Can you keep a secret?  This novel does!

Lisa Reagan's The Couple's Secret focuses on one secret that most couples already know: Relationships are hard! While Noah and Josie are evolving in their relationship after some recent traumas, they are also building a relationship with a new additions to their family. Meanwhile, Josie and Gretchen are solving a  seven-year-old murder mystery that leads to a web of other mysteries, all tied to strained relationships. Regan reminds us again of the importance of familial bonds, teamwork, and telling the whole truth.

This book had me hooked from the very first page. The mystery of Tobias and Cora’s disappearance was chilling, and the twists just kept coming. I thought I had it figured out—then Lisa hit me with another curveball! Josie Quinn is such a strong, relatable character, and every case she works pulls me deeper into her world. The emotions in this one hit hard—grief, secrets, betrayal—it had everything. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a smart, gripping detective thriller with heart.

When a drought lowers the water levels in the river, a submerged car is discovered with two skeletons inside. The bodies are identified as a couple who went out to dinner seven years earlier and never returned home. The case was never solved. It’s also determined that they were murdered. Since the car is discovered in Denton’s jurisdiction, Josie and her team are assigned to reopen the cold case and determine who killed the couple and why. There are a few possible suspects. As the clues start to add up and secrets come to light, another member of the family is found murdered and Josie is determined to get justice. The deceased couple weren’t the only ones hiding secrets. Twists, turns, lies, betrayal, and so much more!

On the home front, Josie and Noah are still trying to make positive progress with Wren, but she isn’t helping matters at all.

The teaser at the end regarding Turner having a teenaged daughter named Cassidy, leaves us eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am amazed that Lisa Regan can write so many books in this series and still keeps me wanting more books! Josie and Noah are back (and the whole team) . Josie gets called to a crime scene where a car is submerged in a lake. Who are the two bodies in the car? How did they get there? Josie is on the hunt to find out what happened to the couple in the car, and who would want them dead? As always, another very captivating mystery in this series. If you haven't read this series, you really are missing out! This isn't a stand-alone book. You need to read the whole series, and you won't be disappointed you will love every book as much as I do! Read today!

When the bodies of a couple missing for 7 years are found murdered in a car submerged in a lake there are no clues to what happened. This is a mystery that will keep you guessing. There are a few twists at the end of the story that are completely unexpected. This book is part of a series and could be read alone but I would also recommend reading the rest of the books in the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Wow, The Couple’s Secret had me guessing until the very end. I was really stumped by the mystery of what happened to Tobias Lachlan and Cora Stevens. The Couple’s Secret blends mystery and emotional depth, again proving that Lisa Regan is proficient at modern suspense. From the very first page, we learn of the heart-wrenching story of Tobias Lachlan and Cora Stevens, two people whose lives were cut tragically short, leaving behind unanswered questions that resonate long after the last chapter.

Detective Josie Quinn stands out as a relatable and determined protagonist. The backdrop of a serene community shattered by violence adds to the tension, making every discovery feel significant and impactful. The mystery itself unfolds at a captivating pace. The author keeps readers guessing, layering the story with red herrings and emotional revelations that challenge initial assumptions about Tobias and Cora’s seemingly perfect life.

What makes The Couple’s Secret an interesting read is its exploration of themes like love, betrayal, and the past, and the added tension of subsequent bodies being discovered raises the stakes, creating a sense of urgency that makes it impossible to set the book down. The author paints vivid scenes that immersed me in the story, whether it’s the serene setting of the river or the harrowing emotional moments faced by the characters. And I LOVE Wren. I cannot wait to see what will happen next, and hopefully we will get to see more of Wren’s character in future books.

Overall, The Couple’s Secret is a great read for fans of thrillers and crime fiction. I would highly recommend this book and this series.

Another great instalment in this series. I can’t believe this is book 23. It’s hard to find words that are different to previous reviews for Lisa Regans writing. Just if you haven’t started reading them and you enjoy a good thriller/police procedural then start!
I’ve taken one star off because sometimes I think Josie’s actions are a bit unbelievable, swimming underwater for ages, pulling a license plate off a car with her hands whilst holding her breath for example. A bit too superwoman , but just my opinion. I still enjoy the story.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The Couple’s Secret Detective Josie Quinn Book 23 - Lisa Regan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series continues with another gripping story. Josie and the team investigate a crime that has remained unresolved for seven years which triggers the gradual unraveling of long-held secrets, lies, lives and loves lost spanning years and across jurisdictions. This all takes place at the same time as Josie and Noah are navigating a dramatic and uncharted turn of events in their personal lives, doing the best they can on all fronts to keep it all together. Book 23 maintains the suspense throughout, ending with an intriguing hint of potential future developments for our ‘favourite’ Detective Turner. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review her work in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Lisa Regan does it yet again! She knocked this one right out of the park. With a fantastic cast of characters, all seemingly with secrets. Dynamic personalities made this impossible to know who to trust. As usual Regan spins a heck of a tale. Big 5 stars from me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Detective Josie Quinn investigates when a car is discovered in a river. She quickly discovers that the car and later the bones inside, relate to a cold case. Cora and Tobias disappeared on the way home from dinner 7 years ago. The couple were happy and left behind their blended family. As they investigate Josie struggles with the lack of leads, combined with planning a vow renewal and dealing with becoming a guardian to a teenage girl.

This was excellent. Josie’s frustrations (and other emotions) were clearly on display. The pace was perfect, revealing things slowly to keep you hooked, but not so slow that you give up. Details of Cora and Tobias’s life together and before each other are revealed slowly , and the final reveal is explosive. Definitely one to add to the must read pile! Highly recommend.

This series just keeps going strong, can't believe it is number 23! I feel like I know these people - strong and very human cast, complex and emotion driven crime - you have to feel bad for the killer in the end, it just isn't so simple! Love Josie and the whole crew (speaking of, where did Sawyer disappear to?). You can jump in and read this as standalone, but read the series, totally worth it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“The Couple’s Secret” by Lisa Regan – Book 23 and Still Absolutely Unmissable!

It’s almost unheard of for a series to make it to book 23 without losing steam—yet Lisa Regan not only keeps the engine running but ramps it into overdrive. “The Couple’s Secret” might just be the strongest entry in the Detective Josie Quinn series yet—and that’s saying something when every instalment is already top-tier crime fiction.

From page one, Regan yanks you headfirst into a chillingly personal mystery, where second chances and happiness are cruelly cut short. The emotional hook is instant, and Josie’s determination to bring justice—despite secrets, lies, and shocking twists—remains as compelling as ever. The plot is layered, the pacing is razor sharp, and the emotional payoff? Absolutely worth the ride.

What really sets this apart is Regan’s consistency in quality and character depth. Josie Quinn is not just a detective anymore—she’s a character you live through. The balance of personal stakes, forensic intrigue, and dark family secrets in this one is pitch perfect. By the time the final body drops and the secrets unravel, you’ll be emotionally spent but already reaching for book 24.

If you’re new to the series, start at the beginning. If you’re a longtime fan, buckle up—this may just be your favorite yet.

Lisa Regan proves once again why she’s in a league of her own.
Unputdownable. Unforgettable. Unmissable.

6/5 stars.

Thank you Bookouture, Lisa Regan, and NetGalley for this ARC!

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 5 ⭐️.

Right from the first few pages, Regan already set up an unsettling scene that is both chilling and intriguing. This is part of a 23-book series with plans to expand up to 35 books. But not every book needs to be read for the story to make sense or for the readers to connect with the characters. But plot twists in prior books could be spoiled by reading later books first. Regan does an amazing job introducing backstory and vivid side characters in the first few chapters through their dynamics/interactions. There were a few plot twists, two of which I guessed, one came from out of nowhere yet still made sense and an emotional impact.

Josie is back with a very mysterious and confounding case. Wren is living with her and Noah and things are tense. The book is full of twists and turns. I was surprised by who the murderer turned out to be. Things definitely weren’t straightforward. It’s an intriguing book that kept me guessing to the very end. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I could not wait to dive into this book! I have been hooked since the very beginning and each story seems to keep getting better!

In this book, Josie and her husband Noah have been unexpected guardians to a 14 year old girl for a few months. They are completely out of their element but it's amazing to see them try and bond with the girl. I can't wait to see more of that in future stories. Add in Noah's PTSD issues and the emotional and personal elements are handled amazingly.

The main storyline however centers on a car that was found at the bottom of the river. Why is this such a mystery? Because the bodies of an engaged couple who have been missing for the last seven years, were found inside! The steps in trying to solve a cold case are not always easy but Josie and her team try to find answers. The case gets even more complicated when a person connected to this couple is found dead days later!!

Will they solve it?

I loved this addition and can't wait for the next one!

Detective Josie Quinn and her husband Noah's lives have been thrown into turmoil , they are now the guardians
of a teenager , Wren . This along with Noah's PTSD ( You need to read the previous book ) is making home life
very difficult - Josie doesn't know how to be a parent ! and doesn't know how to get Noah to see a therapist !

Denton just cannot remain quiet long enough for them to catch their breath - a car has been discovered , submerged
in the river - the bodies are soon identified as a missing couple , both shot to death .
Th ensuing investigation of this supposedly happy couple is full of twists and turns , there seems to be no obvious
reason for their death .

This is the latest Josie Quinn book - full of mystery , a psychological thriller , a real page turner - the Author at her best
I must admit that the end reveal of the murderer was a surprise BUT when are we going to learn more about the annoying Turner - although
the development at the end of the book has set up the scene for the next in the series , so perhaps more is to come .
I look forward to reading the next book with (im)patience !!

Y’all … OMG. This was an amazing addition to the series. Book 22 was so good … could LR top it? YES! Book 23 rocked along and kept me invested then toward the end it started coming together at breakneck speed. It was jaw dropping. Full of twists and surprises. We got more depth in Josie Quinn this time. I’d love to say more but spoilers are just plain mean. If you are a JQ fan then this is a must. Highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to get back to Denton and see what is in store!

Seven years ago, an engaged couple vanished on their way home from dinner, leaving three children to fend for themselves. Their disappearance remained an unsolved mystery until a submerged car containing their bodies is found three hours away in Denton, Pa., the jurisdiction of Detective Lisa Regan. When it is discovered they were murdered, Lisa and her team reopen the case to find the culprit. As the investigation unfolds, surprising secrets are revealed.

Meanwhile, on the home front, Josie is trying to establish a relationship as a new guardian of a teenager (the cliffhanger ending of the last installment of this series), dealing with husband Noah’s PTSD, and planning a vow renewal ceremony with him.

Cleverly plotted, this is a compelling, twisty mystery with elements of psychological thriller and family drama. Readers will be privy to more and more of the personal aspects of Josie and Noah’s life as well as gaining a little insight into the relatively new character of Turner, annoying enigma that he is.

I enjoy seeing Regan’s characters show growth and change with time and experience. I like Josie. She is a capable, intelligent, though vulnerable young woman.

This is book #23 in the series and I have read all of them, as it is one of my favorites. Regan does a good job of filling in pertinent information in characters’ backstories so it does work as a standalone, although I do recommend trying to read some if not all of the prior stories.

If you like well written, gripping, police procedurals/thrillers, I highly recommend this book/series. I can’t wait for #24.
