This was such a cool, creepy begining to a series. 'This Gilded Abyss* has that unsettling, atmospheric vibe—I was hooked pretty much from page one. Rebecca Thorne’s writing is super moody and vivid, and the sense of dread just kind of creeps in and doesn’t let go (in a good way!). The setting was haunting and unique, and I loved how the horror wasn’t just about blood or jump scares, but more about that slow, claustrophobic feeling.

The characters were interesting and had enough layers to keep me invested, even though I wish we’d gotten a bit more time to explore the world and the “why” behind all the weirdness. Some of the mysteries stayed a little *too* mysterious for me, but honestly, that just made it more haunting in the end.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and would totally recommend it to anyone who loves atmospheric horror with great writing. Not a perfect five just because I wanted a little more explanation, but definitely worth reading!
