💬 "I've observed, in my very limited experience of the world, that all of us are broken. The ones you can trust are those who learn something when life breaks them. Those who don't, can't be trusted."

This was a book full of secrets. Some of which I guessed, some I didn't. But they kept me guessing and hypothesising till the
very end. Wow. I definitely did not see the ending coming. At all.

I can't say that i really felt like I got to know the characters, because I didn't. But that's how these books work. If we got to know the truth about who was who early on there would be no secrets, no twists and turns. I think the characters 'true selves' were revealed at just the right pace, so many times I found myself saying "oh... that's who you really are!"

The plot was well paced and engaging. Even the secrets that I had guessed made me want to keep reading so I could find out if I was right or not. I think this is Grant's debut novel, but I'll definitely be looking out for more of her books in the future.

I gave this book 3.5 stars. I quite enjoyed the mystery, but Daniel's gaslighting was really frustrating to read. Overall, I'm not really sure what to think of this thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

What happens when you marry into the wrong family? This was a great thriller. There were amazing twists and turns. Throughout the book I just wanted to scream. lol. This was the first book by Cathryn Grant I've read and I will for sure be picking up more by her.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC!!

Creepy, unsettling, and quietly addictive. Welcome to the Family takes its time to build tension, but once it does, it’s impossible to look away. The Whitmans are chilling in their subtle manipulation, and the final twist lands well. A bit slow at the start and some characters felt flat, but overall a gripping domestic thriller that had me turning the pages late into the night!!

I tried so hard, I really did. I just could not get into this book. The extreme gaslighting was too infuriating to make it very far. I understand it's part of the plot but I couldn't get through it. When I'm unsure if I'm going to finish a book, I will go read the last chapter. It helps me determine if it's worth it to me to find out how they got there. I did that with this and instantly knew it would be a DNF for me. The writing was great, though! Cathryn Grant can definitely write and I will be picking up more of her work, this one just wasn't for me.

I was so curious about this book from the description. There were certainly secrets among the Keller family. I was interested to discover what they were. Some, in my opinion, far fetched scenarios . Nevertheless I continued to the end and all was revealed, and more.

I read this book through in one sitting. I definitely found that it pulled me in immediately and had me up reading past my bedtime.

The characters are all unlikable. Even the ones we are supposed to like didn’t work for me.

There are several twists in the end - some worked better than others. I predicted some aspects of the story but not others.

The first half of the book had me rolling my eyes at the FMC. I questioned her choices repeatedly. The second half moved much much faster.

If you like thrillers especially popcorn style thrillers you will love this one.

Grant’s storytelling is razor-sharp. The family’s icy dynamics—Daniel’s mercurial mother, Elliott’s unsettling flirtations, and the sister’s silent hostility—create a pressure cooker of dread. Claudia’s internal monologue and her secret emails to her sister become lifelines for the reader, anchoring us as the tension ratchets up.
And just when you think you’ve mapped the terrain, the narrative flips. Enter Renee, a new fiancée with her own agenda, and suddenly the story spirals into deeper layers of gaslighting, survival, and revelation. The final twist? Jaw-dropping.

I was immediately drawn into the story from the very beginning. Claudia just got engaged to Daniel and went to his family’s house and winery in the Napa Valley. The family is “unique”. The mom acts like she’s hates her one minute and tolerates her the next. Daniels’s brother Elliot seems to be hitting on Claudia. But things aren’t always what they seem.
These characters are so messed up but I couldn’t stop reading. This was a twisty thriller and the ending was WOW! Now I need to go back and read the rest of Cathryn Grant’s books. Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Let me just say this book surprised me. I've never read anything of Cathryn Grant's but let me just say she's definitely on my list of authors to read her future work. The past few books I've read have been fine, but this one actually kept my attention. It was an interesting dynamic of characters and a few twists towards the end that were not easily guessed (like many mystery/thrillers where you can fairly easily guess the plot twists). I couldn't put this book down (which is not something I say lightly). Quick read that kept my attention.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Welcome To The Family
Cathryn Grant

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I'm getting pretty good at picking out a good psychological thriller just from the front cover ....and the titles - and this was no exception.
Although my first read from this author, I was excited to dive in and give it a go.

I loved the premise of this one and couldn't wait to get into the storyline and find out what on earth the family was hiding.
I also needed to know the backstory of why and how Claudia already knew what she knew and given the rest had gone missing, how she intended to get away unscathed and uncovering the secrets along the way.

The writing style was quite different to my usual read and this wasn't one of those fast-paced and heart pounding thrillers that have you racing through the pages at speed.
But, I actually quite enjoyed this slower pace and allowed the whole atmosphere to take over and let the tension buils and build.

I really wasn't too keen on any of the characters if I'm honest, but this was perfectly fine as I'm pretty sure this was intended.
I had this wariness around each of them and as the story progressed, it was clear that each member had their own part to play in this storyline.

This was an enjoyable read and something a little different for me.
I'll have no problem grabbing more books from this author in the future.

Welcome to the Family by Cathryn Grant and narrated by Lauryn Allman, Madeline Pell, and Christopher Ragland was an excellent and gripping psychological thriller, I thought I had worked it all out Then All change!! there was another twist which lead to a jaw-dropping twist, I did not see that coming!!! Excellent!!!! especially as it had me listening throughout the day whilst doing chores etc.

The narrators by Lauryn Allman, Madeline Pell, and Christopher Ragland were excellent and worked well together reading this audiobook.

This was an audiobook if I could give it 10 ⭐️'s I would, I highly recommend this book

Big Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture audio and Bookouture for my audiobook and ARC

I received an ARC of Welcome to the Family from NetGalley, and I really enjoyed it. From the first page, the creepy atmosphere pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down. It’s fast paced, full of tension, and the twists kept me guessing all the way through. I especially loved the toxic in law vibes they added so much to the unsettling family drama. This was my first book by Cathryn Grant, but it definitely won’t be my last. Her writing style is sharp and addictive, and I’ll be looking out for more of her books

Peculiar. Unhinged. Strange. Very clannish.
I didn’t know what Claudia had stepped into but knew from her future MIL’s icy reception it wouldn’t be good.
Daniel was closed off and intentionally deluding Claudia.
Elliott was just a creep and creepy.
I shuddered through the entire read because the winery tended to wipe people out.
The ending was interesting because I thought no way would she go through with her plan!

✨My thoughts: This starts out slow but you’ll be intrigued. If you’ve been following me for a while you know I get bored quickly with slow burns. I was quite unsure of where this was going. The characters were so snobby and smug that I was getting annoyed. Then BOOM. Unputdownable is an understatement.
I was flipping pages so fast trying to get to the bottom of what was going on in this effed up family’s house! These people were so absurd and infuriating with how entitled they were. I needed them to get their just desserts!
The ending was okay but I wanted different results, haha! Also, that final bomb drop was unbelievable… overall I would definitely recommend this and I will definitely be reading more from this author!

Welcome to the family by Cathryn Grant.
This was a good read. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I did find it slow. I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. Took me a few days to read. I liked the writing style and the story. I didn't trust Daniel's family. I didn't like how Janice was. This is the 6th book I have read by this author. I definitely didn't see that coming. Overall a good read.

When Claudia goes to stay with her partner’s wealthy family, owners of a multi-million-pound winery, she’s eager to make a good impression. But things don’t go as planned—her mother-in-law is cold, her brother-in-law makes unsettling advances, her sister-in-law greets her with stony silence, and her fiancé Daniel dismisses her concerns as being “overly dramatic.” As Claudia digs deeper, she realises their perfect façade is built on lies, and while she may be surrounded by luxury, she is far from free.

This was such a gripping read—full of red flags, tension, and secrets. I couldn’t stop turning the pages to unravel the truth alongside Claudia!

Y’all… this book had me sweating like I was the one sitting at that dinner table. 🍷 The clink of silverware, the heavy perfume, those tight-lipped smiles—you feel every unsettling beat as the family’s secrets simmer beneath the surface.

Our narrator isn’t just meeting the family—she knows what they’ve done to the women who came before her. 👀 Watching her play nice while secretly plotting to survive (and expose them) had me flipping pages like my Kindle was on fire. 🔥 Daniel seems perfect, but his brother is dangerously charming, his mother doesn’t miss a thing, and that icy sister? Pure goosebumps.

Cathryn Grant’s writing is sleek and cinematic—short, sharp chapters that build dread like a slow drumroll. A couple of twists you might see coming but ohhh the tension is delicious.

If you love your family dinners served with a side of menace, Welcome to the Family is one you don’t want to miss. 🖤👀

Thanks to Bookouture for providing this advance copy via #NetGalley for my honest, voluntary review.

Riley has protected her younger sister, Claudia, since they were children from their abusive alcoholic mother. They are extremely close and contact each other regularly. Claudia falls in love and becomes engaged. Her fiancé is very close to his family and takes Claudia to meet them and plan the wedding. She immediately realizes that she’s an outsider and that the family resents her. She discovers that terrible things have happened in this household and that she has no way to leave the property.

Claudia has sent emails to Riley and expresses her concerns. When the emails end Riley is determined to find out what happened to Claudia.

The characters in this novel are all broken and dysfunctional and it keeps you guessing what is going to happen next.

Thank you Elle Gray @ Bookouture and NetGalley-

Holy heck!!! I loved, loved, loved this story! I was not sure where this book was heading then bam this book took a sharp turn into something more, and the freaking twists? I was not ready. Ruthless. Chilling. Perfection!!!
There were red flags everywhere, and Claudia walks straight into them! Like girl! Run!!!

Cathryn Grant doesn’t just build suspense—she crafts an emotional trap you want to fall into. Every character pulses with menace, every scene was so intense and caused me anxiety for Claudia. I couldn’t stop turning pages, even when I wanted to scream at the characters!

If you crave thrillers that mess with your head, twist your gut, and make you rethink family gatherings, Welcome to the Family will be your next obsession.
