Wild Night Rising follows Gwyn, the former leader of the The Wild Hunt, an old time fey group that ran with odin. But Now she is the herald and has to watch as her beloved Hunt become murder hobos under the leadership of a Fury named Tiss. But Gwyn has a plan and it is a simple one. Win back the Hunt. The only problem is that Tiss is too powerful, luckily she runs into the local supernatural law enforcement agency and gets help from Holly and her partner Renne. Sparks fly and a road trip ensues with death at their heels, but maybe they can find a long term connection.
I struggled a bit with this book. I had to put it down and read something else. I just couldn't wrap my head around the world. There is talk about the old fey, new fey, elves, and magical beings but I never felt like I understood the context of the world. Which made it a bit difficult to understand the characters. While I liked Renne, he was the best friend trope and it fit him well. Holly and Gwyn were fine characters and if it wasn't for the fey annd chaos fields and energy stuff, they would have been a lot of fun to follow on this, but I just couldn't get past that.
All in all, it wasn't a bad book I just got lost figuring out the world and the relationship of the characters to the world. I would imagine if you got that, this would be an enjoyable read. This definitely felt like a me thing and not a book thing. I would recommend it to fans of urban fantasy.

Wild Night Rising is action packed fun set in an urban fantasy that blends the modern day with elves, fey, valkyries, and furies (etc). This book was initially quite challenging for me to get into as the opening failed to grab me and the worldbuilding is a little difficult to get to grips with. Several concepts are mentioned but never explained sufficiently, which becomes very difficult when these concepts are essential to the evolving narrative. However the further I got into the book the more I enjoyed it. The fast pace works really well here, with plenty of action and a constantly moving plot. This turned into a light easy and fun read.
Character wise this is a real mixed bag. While I did enjoy the principle characters and their companions (I loved Renne in particular), every other character is very one note, which becomes a bigger issue when the cast expands past the initial trio. I enjoyed the romance between Gwyn and Holly, with great banter and tension between the two, although I found their actual 'getting together' a little rushed.

What a wild ride! This is a fast paced urban fantasy that's drops you into this world and keeps your focus! This is a first for me from this author and it won't be my last.

This was a very enjoyable fast paced, action packed Urban fantasy. The journey was a wild one, but I enjoyed going on the journey with Gwyn and Holly as they fight to keep their world from chaos. This was definitely a page turner and it kept me entertained from the beginning to the end of this fantastic tale. It was definitely a page turner. I will be on the lookout for more books by this author.

This uses the Wild Hunt element perfectly and enjoyed the overall concept of this book, it was everything that I was wanting and enjoyed the overall feel of this. The characters worked well in this universe and had that feel that worked in the genre. Barbara Ann Wright was able to weave a strong writing style and glad it was everything that I was looking for.

I found this book a bit tedious at times. I have read other books by this author and that is why I requested this one. However i found this one did not keep my attention the same.

Fast-paced and brimming with urban fantasy flair, Wild Night Rising pairs Gwyn, a former Wild Hunt leader turned reluctant herald, with Holly, a half-fae supernatural agent. Thrown together in a race to survive the Hunt’s chaos, they face danger, banter, and a slow-burn attraction that refuses to be ignored. While the complex world takes a little time to settle in, once the action starts it’s relentless—full of fey-fueled mayhem, sharp dialogue, and emotional beats that land. A thrilling, high-energy read that blends chaos, heart, and romance in equal measure.

Gwyn used to lead the Wild Hunt, but now she serves as its Herald. The Fury of Vengeance, the new leader of the Hunt, wants to raise hell wherever it can, wherever it goes. So as its Herald, Gwyn tries to warn people to stay inside and stay hidden while the Hunt passes through. Holly has always fought for everything she has. Her days working for a secret agency that round up supernatural criminals to banish them aren't an exception. When both Gwyn and Holly's world collide, they'll have to fight their way out together.
Wild Night Rising is an action packed urban fantasy. In the beginning, this book was a little bit difficult to understand. The author clearly has a big, complex world in mind, but within the first chunk of this novel, that world is a little underdeveloped. However, once the plot really began, it was nearly impossible to put down. This is a very fact paced book, and very action heavy in terms of a fantasy novel. Additionally, the romance featured in this book was pleasantly surprising and I found myself invested in each piece of banter and snippet of heartache.

Urban fantasy fun, with Gwyn, former Wild Hunt leader now herald, and Holly, half fae supernatural cop, who are both lost souls tied to their ‘jobs’. In the midst of crisis they find an attraction that will change their lives. If that is, they survive the mayhem about to befall as they stand in the path of the Wild Hunt’s American road trip search for a prisoner. Oh, and the fact that they are both stubbornly set on their life paths, not about to change direction, even for attraction or maybe long term love, doesn’t help either. This is a very enjoyable fast paced action packed Urban fantacy. I enjoyed embarking on this journey with Gwyn and Holly as they fight together to keep their world from chaos. Definitely a page turner.
Thank you Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley.

I absolutely loved Wild Night Rising. It’s a fast paced urban fantasy full of chaos, heart, and fey fueled fire. Holly and Gwyn are a fierce, unforgettable duo one a rebellious recruit with wild magic, the other a former Wild Hunt leader desperate to stop an immortal uprising. Set in a version of Houston where supernatural forces clash with secret agencies, this story delivered action and amazing banter, and just enough heartache to keep you hooked. I didn’t want it to end. #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #reading #reader

Gwyn is a former leader of the hunt and she desperately wants to be that again as she fights to keep the world from learning of the Hunt existing. Holly wants to be a cop but her background is preventing her she gets recruited by secret agency that deals with criminals who are supernatural. Gwyn and Holly collide and they have to fight together to keep their world from becoming chaos as both their feelings starts to deepen. Enjoy the characters the dynamics the action was good.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC.
This was overall an enjoyable enough read, but the writing style just wasn't for me.
I did really enjoy the world building, it felt very original and unique.
The romance was cute, but overall this was a bit action heavy for me.
I think people who enjoy a more rough, action heavy book will enjoy this.
