Thank you for this read!

I really loved this book. The characters felt real and were easy to connect with, Their fake dating story was sweet and fun, and I adored their grumpy girl x golden retriever boy vibe.

The book touches on important themes like grief, guilt, and not feeling good enough, but in a gentle and thoughtful way. I appreciated how it showed both Wren’s anxiety and Mile’s vulnerability made them feel more relatable.

The story was a mix of emotions. The writing was smooth and easy to follow. I’m excited to read more from this series!

This book is a typical Figure Skater/Hockey Player romance. There’s some challenging topics explored and they’re detailed and managed well.

The chemistry between Wren and Miles is slightly stilted in the beginning, Miles is soooo into Wren whereas she seems really standoffish and almost mean 😅 the fake dating set up is awkward and funny because of this.

The book is longer than a typical sports romance and the beginning does seem to drag a little, especially since they meet in chapter 3 or 4, there’s a biiiiig build to their relationship.

Tropes:
he falls first and HARD💞
black cat 🐈‍⬛ x golden retriever 🐕
college based 📚
fake dating 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨
mental health rep 💗
figure skater ⛸️ x hockey player 🏒

I love a good sports romance as much as the next person... add in some spice and chefs kiss...
However... I just didn't love this one I'm sorry!

The plot was ok, the characters were ok, some parts were funny, i could appreciate where the fake dating trope was trying to take us and the spice was fine when we finally got there if a bit cringe!

What happened to Carter?? Why didn't we find out??

Wren confused me, does she like romance like the books she reads, does she like figure skating? Is she bothered if she makes it or not? Who knows.

I struggled through this one sorry 😞

Thanks to NetGalley for the free copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

I really really wanted to enjoy this but the FMC just drove me crazy :/
The book itself seems all over the place and constantly contradicting itself.
The MMC is probably the best character but as it’s a romance … I really need to like both characters if I’m to carried away with the story.
