Another book by Camilla Isley that I just flew through. With short chapters, plenty to keep you hooked and loveable characters, I just raced through without even realising.

Unlike many of the author's other books, this one is much more of a slow burn. The main characters have to take the relationship slow with no physical contact. That's not to say the book wasn't hot though. There's so much chemistry between the two of them.

I thought the plot was going to be predictable, but actually there were a couple of curves I didn't expect.

I loved the dynamic between Dorian and Josie. They are the sort if cute that makes you smile until your cheeks hurt.

Overall - enjoyable, fast paced and held my attention to the end.

So- I am done with rom-com romance's for a while. I don't think I am the rom-com audience!

Josie gets stuck in an elevator with rock legend Rian. They share a night of getting to know each other and sharing secrets. But then they are let out. A year later, Josie discovers that Rian has requested that she be his PR manager, while his current one is on maternity leave. (Yes, Josie is in the biz). Instant attraction again- but they will not cross any lines while in this business relationship.

So I got tired and bored about half-way through. There was so much focus on the yearning the characters had for each other, but absolutely no character insight or development. I felt that I did not know the characters any better at the end of the story. The characters are cute and charming, and I felt the connection in the elevator scene, but then it just seemed to be witty banter and yearning.
There is also a lot of texting. I don't mind when authors use this as some communication element in the story- but sometimes it was a whole chapter of text messages! By this point, I was really looking for depth- but not getting it.

I do not think I am the audience for this type of book, as I want deeper relationships that show growth in the characters.

Please check other reviews because I am an outlier!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I haven’t met a book by Camilla Isley that I didn’t love, and You Rock My World is no exception. I devoured this one! The chemistry and tension between Dorian and Josie had me hooked from the very start. Their push-and-pull dynamic was so much fun to read, with just the right mix of banter, sparks, and heart. Camilla’s writing is always engaging and leaves me wanting more, and this story was no different. A perfect mix of swoon, tension, and romance.

⭐⭐.5 (2.5)
A tortured rockstar and Josie are thrown together when an elevator malfunctions.
Unspoken truths and confessions made--things they'd never voice out. It sparks a connection so unforgettable -- that walking away from each other felt like the greatest heartbreak---what happens when they're brought together again : but now she's his PR help and strictly off-limits

It could have been a good book. I was so excited for it. The concept of celebrity romance, rock star, tortured artist, is my jam, okay! But this one was way too much into insta-love and ex-drama.

❤️ THE LOVELY.
• The writing is easy to read and flows quickly.
• I loved the Josie relationship with her family, and they were such a fun and lovely bunch.
• celebrity/rock star premise was delivered perfectly and in detail
• Dorian’s ‘rock star angst’ part was told perfectly--his music, the tortured artist image and also the behind-the-scenes details of the rock star life - PR stunts, music industry image management—were vivid and well done.
• And the impact the ex had on him was also shown properly.
• It was an entertaining read, and the concept was definitely appealing.

🚫 THE UNLOVELY
• Insta-love was too much. Within hours they’re in 'forever love'. I wished that elevator scene would've been the first step in their story rather than their entire foundation.
• The deal breaker : use of the ex to fuel the entire plot. The sword hanging over their head was the ex , not that fraternising with the client would get her fired.
• Both fell hard instantly, leaving me no time to know them, to understand how their dynamics work.
• I felt that their relationship progression was very fast paced with no gradual buildup, despite the fact that she'd get fired -the Josie caved very easily to his charms because she was already in so much love with him
• I don’t mind insta-love when paired with strong banter or proper depth, but here it was instant devotion without foundation
• Instead of being swept away, I felt like a bystander in their story, I wasn't sucked into the world
• And the J’s career--a great conflict point, was in the backseat once the romance started

✨ FINAL THOUGHTS
I’ve loved Camilla Isley’s work before (If the Ring Fits was delightful),So I was hoping the same with
this one, but it missed the mark for me.
I do think that a lot of my feelings about this book are due to my personal taste, and others might actually enjoy it because the concept is appealing and the writing is easy. For me, the pure insta love and the ex-fueled drama made it a 2.5-star read.
So, I think it’s worth a read; it might surprise you.
Pick this up if you like fast-paced, instant-spark celebrity romances with lots of drama.
But if you’re craving layered character dynamics, in depth character development, this may not be the one.

✨ Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an audiobook ARC of this book.

Rockstars Ah. The fantasy of so many - especially when they have muscles, tattoos, and open leather vests with not shirt under. And here we have a good example of this type.
Except that he knows that it is all a show, even down to the guy liner, and that it isn't the real him.
The real person behind the rock persona is much more normal person. One who falls in love like any normal person, but one who can also write a form of poetry and set it to music about his l9ve.
A fairly standard trope storyline but nicely put together and written. A good example of the type.

Dorian, a rockstar, and Josie, a PR rep, are stuck in an elevator one night a year ago. They connected but didn’t keep in contact until now - his normal PR rep is on bed rest and he requests Josie… the biggest news to break? He is giving divorced. But, his ex, isn’t ready let go and Dorian/Josie want to explore their connection.

I usually love her books and this one was just okay. It was quick to read but I didn’t get sucked in.

Given how much I dislike the rock star romance trope, I’ve enjoyed this far more than I expected. But it's Camilla Isley, so is it really such a surprise?

Starting out with the good things (which were amazing and definitely made this into a great read, despite me having some comments on the not-so-good things):
- the tension and banter were exquisite, especially when ramped up by the fact that they couldn’t be too close - I was downright giddy at some parts,
- the humor, lightness and tenderness of the story - all in all it was very sweet and reading it felt like a blanket for the soul,
- Josie being a blend of sweet and spicy - I like when there’s more to a person, and the shy doesn’t cancel out the sarcastic,
- the details of it, like the care put into song lyrics, and the little references to their time in the elevator.

Now, for the worse things (it feels like there's a lot, but I just have more to say/explain with them):
- the ban on kissing didn’t make much sense in context of everything else they did - it was very tense and steamy between them all the time, and they definitely couldn't look as 'just friends/professionals' + she was staying behind after every meeting and hanging out with him otherwise; generally, in my opinion, they weren’t being very discreet at all,
- Camilla’s books are usually closed-door, and so with this it felt like someone forced her to include more - I don’t think it was necessary. She thrives on dialogue and tension of almost-happenings, and actual, open-door spice doesn't blend well with her style (or maybe it just didn't here),
- there was a red flag or two in Dorian (not providing examples as they're spoilers),
- once it got to a point, the plot became really predictable and e.g. the first kiss scene was really anticlimactic thanks to that - it was the most obvious, boring way for them to kiss for the first time, in my opinion, because that’s the first option that pops into your head if you think of rock star forbidden romance,
- my biggest pet peeve is character A singing to character B at any point, be it publicly or privately, no matter how good/bad they’re at singing - I cringe every time, I don't know what's wrong with me.

Overall, give me Camilla anything, and I'll be happy, and I liked this. It was definitely something new and worth picking up, especially for fans of swooning, banter and tension-filled slow burns!

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for letting me read the ARC!

You Rock My World by Camilla Isley is a second chance, forbidden romance. Josie and Dorian end up stuck in an elevator together for 10 hours, sharing food, laughter, and secrets. They form an instant connection, however he is married (and a world famous rockstar and actor) and she works for his PR firm. A year later, Josie ends up running his PR during his divorce. This book was phenomenal and I didn't want it to end! I absolutely LOVED how these characters were written and how their relationship was almost magical. The authors use of a dual timeline in the beginning of the story really helped lady the foundation and had me hooked almost instantly. I cannot wait for Lily's story!!

Thank you Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoy Camilla's writing and enjoyed reading this one from the start!! It was a quick and easy book to read that's sweet and funny yet still has room for a few deeper moments. If you enjoy a good slow burn, rock star romance that has dual POV's - then this book is for you!!!

A romance between a famous person and a normal person. Just take that and inject it straight to my veins because that’s the kind of thing I’m into.

Josie works in PR, Rian is a rockstar. A year prior to the main plot of the story, they spend ten hours stuck together in a lift and they start to fall in love. Then they are rescued and they meet up a year later.

There’s plenty of things to block the two of them getting together and, thankfully, this doesn’t include any stupid reasons like not communicating properly. Firstly, Rian requests that Josie become his PR agent, which means they can’t be together or she’ll get sacked. Then there’s Rian’s ex-wife, who is not happy that they have got divorced. This leads to a simmering relationship with a nice amount of build up and a whole lot of yearning on both sides which I adored.

I loved the burgeoning relationship between Josie and Rian. Both have their issues but, in the end, there is no major roadblock to their happiness. Everything that gets between them is external and they work well together from beginning to end. I wanted them to get together and I never stopped enjoying reading about them. The supporting characters, mostly Josie’s family, are lovely and supportive and I enjoyed every moment with them too.

You Rock my World is right up my alley. It’s a fun read, I loved the main relationship and it has a trope that I will probably never tire of reading. It was a great read from beginning to end.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

TLDR: A swoony, slow-burn rockstar romance that’s equal parts funny, heartfelt, and romantic. Josie and Rian’s chemistry leaps off the page, making this one of the most addictive reads I’ve picked up this year.

Plot Summary: When Josie gets stuck overnight in an elevator with global rock legend Rian Phoenix, she never expects it to turn into a life-changing night. Ten hours of snacks, secrets, and sparks later, she walks away determined to forget him.

A year later, fate throws them together again when Josie is reassigned as Rian’s PR manager. Keeping things professional isn’t easy when the connection is undeniable, the attraction is impossible to ignore, and falling for him could cost her everything.

My Thoughts: I could not put this book down! The slow burn of Josie and Rian’s romance was absolute fire 🔥 and their chemistry was fantastic. Who would have thought ten hours stuck in an elevator could be the foundation for such a sweet, swoony love story?

Despite the roadblocks they faced, I adored the little ways Rian showed he was falling for Josie, like reading to her over the phone until she fell asleep 📖💤 and making her dream of being an extra in a movie come true 🎬. Those thoughtful gestures melted me and made me root for them even more.

You Rock My World is heartfelt, funny, and full of charm. A rockstar romance that truly hits all the right notes. 🎶

Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley, and Boldwood Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book!! Seriously loved it.

Forced Proximity / Stuck Together Cozy Romance that continues to build upon a beautiful storyline.

Trapped in an elevator is how they meet…. But as time goes on, after the incident, the story blossoms.

Honestly, the love and relationship building in this book is a very slow burn, but hot, filled with sexual tension, and true.

The relationship is built honestly. It’s built on life’s truths and an adorable, real friendship.

I love how the characters take their time and truly get to know, accept and love each other for who they truly are, inside and out. The good, the bad and ugly. Relationships like these are built to last, in my opinion.

This story filled me with warmth and happiness while reading. The growth of the 2 main characters relationships is fantastic and real.

The comical banter between them is great as well.

Well written and a great storyline. Like all great love stories, there are always obstacles to overcome…. This book stays true to that.

Highly recommend.

I just finished reading “You Rock My World” by Camilla Isley. The meet cute for this story was such a fun way to meet in the broken elevator. I enjoyed the story about their time in that. However I have a hard time believing someone would be devastated for a whole year over not being able to be in a relationship with a celebrity they met. She works at a PR firm. Even though it is in tech, she should have more chill around celebrities. I don’t think someone can truly love someone in the hours it took to get rescued. It came up later in the story when Josie said they needed to get to know each other. Josie tried to keep things professional but I thought wearing a tshirt from Dorian’s first album cover was not professional. I felt like she looked like a super fan and not his PR rep at the time. I did like that Josie was pursing her book career.

Though out the book, I enjoyed the relationship growing between Josie and Dorian. I wanted to keep reading about them and their exciting lives.

I have enjoyed several other books by Camilla Isley so I was excited for this one.
The story of Josie, a PR professional who happens to be stuck in an elevator with global rock star, Rian Phoenix (AKA Dorian.) But she gets to know that real person behind the persona. A year later, Josie is reassigned to be his PR representation, but dating a client is forbidden. And Dorian is going through a divorce.

This is your standard rom-com. There is nothing to shocking about the story. It is lighthearted and likeable. I enjoyed the story overall. I will say that the characters fell a little flat for me compared to other books by Isley but still not a bad story.

It is a fairly quick read. I would recommend it.
4 stars.

This enemies-to-lovers romance delivers all the swoon with Josie, a determined PR manager who finds herself trapped in an elevator with global rockstar Rian Phoenix, discovering the tender heart beneath his bad boy image. What starts as an unexpected night of shared secrets and undeniable chemistry becomes complicated when Josie is assigned as his PR manager a year later, forcing her to choose between protecting her career and pursuing the love that could change everything. A perfectly paced story filled with witty banter, emotional depth, and enough steam to fog up your reading glasses, proving that sometimes the best love stories happen when you least expect them and with the person you're definitely not supposed to fall for.

This is an author I found a couple years ago and just fell in love with. I went and read her entire backlist and was so grateful I got a copy of this book advanced. I highly recommend giving this author a try, this one might be my new favorite!

This was a fun spin on the rockstar romance trope. I loved how Josie and Dorian met, sparking an organic feeling connection despite the fame difference. It was low spice and a forbidden romance on multiple fronts. While I appreciated the slow pacing of the relationship at times I struggled with Josie and Dorian's chemistry, feeling a little bit like insta-love. I still enjoyed it but it's not one of my favorites. Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood for the ARC.

You Rock My World, by Camilla Isley, is an intense, fast-paced romance that begins with a meet-cute in a broken-down elevator. While the outcome was predictable, getting there was entertaining and kept me reading into the night. I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC ebook that I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

Love Camilla Isley so devoured this one, very very quickly! I did find the escalation from no relationship to full on secret girlfriend quite fast - would have loved more of a build up BUT the romance was sweet and relatable (even if it involved a rock megastar!)
