This book is based in Logan Point, which has been the location 4 other books which Patricia Bradley wrote at the beginning of her career. It's been a while since I'd read those so I can confirm it can be read as a standalone. It made me want to go back and read this series.
There's a couple of mysteries over the course of the book which keeps the reader guessing at how the ending of the book was going to play out. Over the course of the book, the heroine has some growth on one of her relationships which was a good element of the book.
I receive complimentary books from various sources, including NetGalley, authors, and others. I am not required to write a positive review, and I have not received any compensation for my thoughts.

Jenny Tremont called her teenage friend Drew in the middle of the night to bring her a package from a hidden spot but Drew couldn't make it in time and Jenny was shot by a stranger as she tried to escape her home. Drew entered the home and found Jenny with blood pooling around her body and his fathers' gun on the floor so he took the gun and ran back to his truck.
Drew thought his cousin Tori would be able to help as she was the host of "Dark Deeds Unraveled", a true crime podcast that had helped to highlight irregularities in a murder case that freed an innocent man in the murder of businessman Walter Livingston in Drews' hometown.
Tori decided to unofficially help to investigate who killed Jenny but someone was after her too!
