Miguel has always loved learning about mystical creatures, so he is ecstatic when he is hired by the Mystical Beasts Bureau to be a spy. He learns he will be partnered with Agent Cupcake, who is a unicorn (which is even more exciting for Miguel). They are quickly thrown into a mission when a fashion company is using blackmarket materials. This leads to a bigger case though when it turns out unicorns' powers are being stolen.
This was really cute! I loved the idea that what we would call mythical exist in this world, and I really enjoyed the art. The main storyline is throwing some (not so) subtle shade at a big corporation that is also the name of a river and how it tries to get rid of independent artists, like the unicorns that work at Betsy (wink wink, nudge nudge). There were times I wish things had been explained a little bit more, but I might be thinking about it from an adult reader in terms of plot cohesion. It also seemed like everything happened in one day?? Maybe I missed a day break though. Despite that, it was still a fun, cute read!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

When I was a little kid, I liked unicorns so much. I even asked for one for Christmas, and this fixation never really went away. I want more books and films about unicorns, so I was so pleased that NetGalley gave me the opportunity to read this graphic novel before publication.
IT WAS SO CUTE AND PASTEL AND MAGICAL. I enjoyed every second of it, and I'm really hoping there will be a next one.
