I was really hoping to get a good ghost story based on the title of the book but that is not what this is. While the title was misleading on what the book would be about, I still enjoyed the story. The atmosphere is described so well, I really felt like I was there on the island. The story is a slow build and was overall good. The main character was 'haunted' by her own trauma, and I think many readers can relate to that kind of thing. IF you go in not expecting a ghost story but instead a story of life and our own personal 'haunts' then you will enjoy this book. Thanks, NetGalley.

Definitely a page turner however the ending to me felt a bit rushed. Would still recommend to thriller fans.
Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC!

The title had me expecting a chilling ghost story that would keep me awake all night, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Instead, it wasn’t that kind of haunting at all, though in its own way, it offered a different kind of haunting experience, one rooted in personal struggles.

Thank you NetGalley and Severn House for the eARC.
I didn't love or hate this. It was a solid thriller and sometimes that's all you can ask for. I didn't find it to be scary but the action picks up in the second half!

After reading some reviews on this book, I was a little hestiant to start it. But I did and finished it in one day!
Greiving after the loss of her child, a woman accepts a job to help finish a house on a high cliff overlooking the sea.. She will be working for a bereaved widower who wife has disappeared and presumed dead. As she begins her job, eerie events begin to occur and she wonders who she can trust in this suspence packed story. Is it the sad widower, his daughter or new friends that she has made in the small town?
The scenery , the people, and who did what kept me reading to the very end. Highly recommended.

Thank you NetGalley and Severn House for the eARC.
It's a great book, I loved it!
Emily Grace has suffered an incredible loss, to the point she has lost the will to live.
But the chance of a new job has ignited her enthusiasm and she is ready to start a new chapter in her life. Unfortunately there are new problems she has to face, some of them might cost her her life ...
I empathized with her demons totally and was glad to see she was able to slay them, slowly but surely. It's a great story, unputdownable, with an uplifting ending.
The part where she was gifted a Schipperke puppy at the end was such a nice touch!

I really struggled with this book. I had to force myself to finish it. It wasn’t until I was around 60% through that I started to get interested but the ending didn’t really do it for me. I feel like the story had so much potential but it was lacking. I appreciate having the opportunity to read it though.

2.5 rounded up because I love the cover. The book, not so much. It actually bored me, rather than scare me. Thsnks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

The Haunting of Emily Grace is a beautifully atmospheric and unsettling gothic tale that blends grief, isolation, and ghostly suspense in a way that kept me turning pages late into the night.
Emily Grace is a character you can’t help but root for—she’s endured unimaginable loss and takes a job on a remote island as a way to rebuild her life. But the setting itself becomes a haunting force: the unforgiving sea, the eerie manor, the whispers of a local curse. Elena Taylor excels at creating an environment heavy with dread, where every creak of the floorboards and every shadow in the corner makes you question what’s real and what’s imagined.
What I especially loved was how the novel balances the supernatural with the psychological. Emily’s grief feels raw and authentic, making her both vulnerable to the haunting and strong enough to face it head-on. The mystery of the manor, layered with accidents, secrets, and possible ghosts, builds toward a chilling and satisfying conclusion.
With its windswept setting, slow-burn suspense, and gothic tension, The Haunting of Emily Grace is perfect for fans of Simone St. James and Darcy Coates. A gripping read that lingers long after the final page.

Emily Grace as a character was intriguing enough for my taste, but all the lore and stories around her seemed too off for my taste.
I loved the setting - I usually do when it is set on a secluded or small island, and a creepy manor or house. The writing is atmospheric, sometimes, but I never truly cared for the characters.
It was like I was in it for the plot, but not for the characters.
Hopefully, other readers will enjoy this book more than I did.

Emily Grace has suffered personal loss that seems insurmountable. When offered the dream job of completing carpentry work on a millionaires mansion it seems too good to be true. Perilously perched on a cliff and island connected to the mainland via a bridge Emily Grace moves in and attempts to complete the work her employers late wife had started. Weird things start happening, is he being targeted or is it the island rejecting him and his house.
Spoiler alert …I guess this one could be described as a sheep in wolf’s clothing or I was mis-sold and the advertising needs work. I expected a creepy haunted mansion, a few scares but instead got a gaudy ultra new show home with wet foot prints. The writing is sound but with not a ghost or ghoul in sight I feel aggrieved this wasn’t the book I was expecting.

The Haunting of Emily Grace is just that. Haunting. although it takes some time to get going once it does it doesn’t stop, and you won’t want it too because you’ll be flying through the pages to find out what happens next. It’s spooky with small town vibes and makes for a perfect rainy day read.

2.5 rounded up to 3

Oh guys I was so disappointed!!
It’s taken me over 10 days to read this book, if you know me that rarely happens, it just didn’t grab me and it felt like a chore to read, the title grabbed me, the blurb grabbed me.
I was really expecting scares and it just didn’t deliver, I really was close to DNF’ing!
Such a shame because from the blurb and the title, it had so much potential 😭

The Haunting of Emily Grace was a great book. It drew me in from page 1. I loved how even as we began to see who Emily was we didn’t get it all at once. The writer did an excellent job of giving you pieces of the story to keep you wanting more but also keep you guessing. My only complaint was I felt like the ending was abrupt and could have been given a little more time, that’s the only reason I am giving it 4 stars.

this book was such a fun read, a tiny remote island and a millionaire? Yes please. the atmosphere was spooky and gave everything i expected and more. With an incredible writing style Taylor delivers all the twists and turns in spine chilling detail. I cant wait to for the next book from her

I was really in the mood for a good haunting, and while this hit that spot *technically*, I was really hoping for more jump-scares and creepy vibes.
What I think did hit the most for me was the detail put into the plot and the scenery/atmosphere, which I think is very important for a book like this. I also enjoyed the play on words that Emily was also mentally haunted by her own traumas while also dealing with the weirdness of the home she is fixing up.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. It just didn’t hit the expectations I had going in, and that’s definitely a me thing, and not a fault on the author or the book.

Wow!!! Incredible read. I genuinely dont think i put this book down from the first chapter. My jaw was on the floor and I would highly recommend to anyone xx

Thank you for this book. It was so good. First of all I love a great thriller and this one just gave Page turn and twist after the twist at the twist. I love the storyline. The characters were great. I’m glad that Emily stepped in and did her thing and the plot just was thick in this book Can’t wait for others to read it.

A contractor stays at a mansion she is helping to build- stays with the owner. Strange things have happened. Now the owner's estranged adult daughter is coming for a visit, and things are getting weird. I think the title is a tad bit misleading, because people who enjoy mystery thrillers might not want to read something that sounds a lot like a horror novel.
