Book Review: Saratoga ABCs by Lauren Magina

In this delightful early reader children's book, Lauren Magina takes young readers on a vibrant tour of Saratoga Springs, NY, using the alphabet as their guide.

Saratoga ABCs is a fantastic and creative concept, perfectly suited for families planning a trip to this historic city. The book presents an A-to-Z journey, highlighting well-known landmarks and attractions. It’s a brilliant way to introduce children to the unique charm of Saratoga before they even arrive.

What I particularly enjoyed is the potential for this book to become a family activity. The idea of visiting each location mentioned and creating new memories based on the destinations is a fun and engaging way to experience the city. It transforms the book from a simple read into a memorable scavenger hunt.

This book is highly recommended for families with young children who are planning a visit to Saratoga Springs or for those who simply want to introduce their little ones to this beautiful part of New York. It's an excellent tool for sparking curiosity and making travel an interactive and educational adventure.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced readers copy!!

This book is very informative about saratoga. I do not know much about saratoga so I cannot fact check these things. If correct, this is great things to know and would be great to read before a trip there. It would give lots of ideas of places to visit.

Saratoga ABCs: The Alphabet Book of Saratoga Springs, NY (Board Book)
by Lauren Magina
More of a tourist abc book rather than a preschool book. The book shows the history and features of saratoga and how its history shows the lives of the people who have changed the places, and history of the country from them.

This was cute! I requested Saratoga ABCs because my family vacations in the area every summer and I thought it would be fun to read with my young daughter. I do think it’s geared more toward older children/teens and adults, but the content was interesting to me and the illustrations were pretty and not overwhelming, which I loved. I think this book would make a great gift or souvenir for someone visiting Saratoga.

A great addition to a travel section of our nonfiction books, or for locals of Saratoga, NY, this celebrates the famous landmarks and historical accomplishments in the NY state region. I enjoyed the text font, colors, and illustrations in addition to the interesting facts. My favorite way to use alphabet books in the classroom is as a simple encyclopedia or research book. Learners don't have to sift through thick volumes, and can easily narrow down a book that will have what they are looking for.

I highly recommend this book for schools and libraries.
