Shane presents a transformative view of spells and curses, redefining them as narratives and false beliefs that shape lives as much as traditional occult practices. Drawing from the etymology of “spell” as “story” or “narrative” , he argues that many people unknowingly live under destructive stories—fear, doubt, comparison, or shame—that function as spiritual spells. Curses, by contrast, are intentional acts of invoking harm.

Through biblical teaching, personal testimony, and psychological insights, Shane demonstrates that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the “good spell” that cancels all others. He shows how narratives can enslave but also how truth can liberate. Stories of deliverance, from dramatic exorcisms to his own struggle with gluttony , illustrate the gospel’s power to transform.

The book provides practical tools—prayers, affirmations, and declarations—to help readers identify, confront, and break free from spells and curses . Shane’s pastoral style makes the content approachable, balancing warnings about deception with encouragement rooted in God’s authority.

Ultimately, the book is a manual for spiritual freedom. It equips readers to replace false narratives with gospel truth, overcome fear and anxiety, and walk in lasting liberty through faith in Christ.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I will certainly recommend it to others. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Unfortunately not what I thought it was going to be so DNF after a couple pages.
The title and cover was what intrigued me but my mistake I didn’t realise was a self help book.
Good luck to the author though
