My Husband's Wife is an unputdownable thriller that I read in 1 day! I knew a Carla Kovach book was going to be awesome, but I loved this book. This book is told from multiple POV's and trying to figure out the truth about what's going on is impossible. That kept me glued to the book unable to stop reading as each new twist was revealed. Eva and her husband Hugo are happily married with a young boy at the beginning of the book. The book skips ahead 5 years and Eva and her son are on their own as Hugo has died. Eva has moved to a coastal town and is working as a wedding planner which she loves.
Madison and Theo are engaged and so ready to get married. They are meeting with a wedding planner today to plan out the details. As Eva is waiting for her next couple, Madison walks in and thanks her for agreeing to be their wedding planner. She says that Theo is on his way. When Theo arrives carrying their newborn daughter, Emily, Eva can't believe her eyes. She starts to sway as she is looking into the face of her dead husband. Theo can't be Hugo though because he died 5 years ago! The voice is the same and everything. How can this be?
Eva knows what a good liar Hugo was and can't risk him blowing up her new life with the secret he knows about her. Eva doesn't say anything, but as the happy family leaves she notices Theo looking at her a bit too long. Theo knows that she knows he's Hugo, but is he? This book will grab you and not let go! Trust me, I could not put this book down and kept putting off things I should've been doing. My Husband's Wife will draw you in, and with each new twist, keep you reading more and more. If you love a thriller that you can't figure out easily, this is the book for you! I rate My Husband's Wife 5 stars with my highest recommendation. The book is out now and should not be missed! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of My Husband's Wife in exchange for a fair review. #MyHusbandsWife

Absolutely loved this book! Couldn't put it down at all. So many twists and turns that literally had me racing through the book!

This is one of the books which is really on my TBR list and so when I saw it on NetGalley, I grabbed the chance to request it. The premise and the synopsis seem sooo good and intriguing and I was so excited to read it.
I really wanted to give this book a perfect rating because I really did enjoy reading it. I could not put it down and read it for only a day and a half. It was fast-paced, and everything happening, including those in the side characters, were really exciting and will hook you on. The multiple POVs piece every detail of the story to us and so we get clarity at the end. The title, wow. At the end of the book, the title meant more to me than anything to be honest, I think some of you might feel the same. Also, say it with me: girl power! And most importantly, the twist, or should I say, twists, in this story are surprising, like nothing I've read before. Kudos to Carla for these.
However, there are jumps or skips throughout the book that made me often think - wait, did I read this happen? And then I have to go back a little and can't find it. It happened multiple times and it was a little bothering, to be honest, as it can disturb the flow of reading. Maybe the descriptions of some of the scenes could have been improved, for better visualization and understanding of the scenario for the readers. Also, there were multiple times when I felt like so many things were happening at once to so many people and although this is exciting, it is a little overwhelming because it is not always easy to track what is happening with all the side characters. Let's put it this way - if this is to be transferred into the big screen, I would hope for a series, not one movie, because one movie might not be enough to capture everything happening there. So because of these, I cannot give the book a perfect score. But other than that, I really liked the book.
ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

While this book is wonderfully far fetched it is a read that I really enjoyed.
Eve, Madison, and Nicole. are all fabulous characters and the plot is brilliant done,
It is a read filled with drama and a few twists, I often wondered how this was going to end and I was not disappointed.
I loved it

I give this 5 stars. I absolutely loved this novel. It had me hooked from the beginning . This has so many plot twists and turns it had me on the edge of my seat and in suspense.

Eva thought that she had put the past behind her. Five years ago, she buried her husband Hugo and slowly began to rebuild her life. Now happily remarried and working as a wedding planner, she finally believes she has found stability again. But her world is thrown into chaos when a new client walks through her office doors. The bride to be beams with excitement while her fiance, Theo, carries their baby in his arms. One look, one word from him, and Eva's blood runs cold. Theo isn't just any groom. He is Hugo. The man she married, the man she loved, the man she thought was dead. As Eva struggles to make sense of the impossible, she realizes Hugo, now Theo, knows things about her no one else could. Secrets she has buried and lies she has told. If he exposes them, the life she built will crumble.
Wow! The idea of a husband you thought was dead suddenly walking back into your life is chilling, and Carla Kovach brought that nightmare to life so vividly. I really felt Eva's fear, confusion, and heartbreak on every page. I couldn't stop reading because I just had to know what Hugo / Theo was hiding. The twists were well placed and that ending?? Definitely one I will be thinking about for a while! There are a couple of places where you do need to suspend your belief but overall if you like twisty, suspenseful, psychological thrillers definitely add this to your TBR!
Thank you to NetGalley, Carla Kovach, and Bookouture for this eARC! Publication date is September 8th 2025.

I am always up for a new read from Carla Kovach. Just pop her name in the search on my blog and you can see I have read and reviewed several of her books. She has an easy going way of writing that immerses you in the happenings and keeps every chapter as interesting as the last.
This was a very unique plot and I have to just say, highly unrealistic, but it was a wild read! If you think you have it figured out, believe me you don't.
This is broken up into three separate points of view- the first from Eva, who tragically lost her husband a few years ago. The second from Madison, who's soon-to-be husband looks almost exactly like Eva's ex-husband. The third point of view is from Nicole, a new friend of Eva's who has a link to Eva's new husband. How does she fit into all of this?
Yes, the characters in this book got annoying at times. There wasn't a single relatable one. The weird twists and crazy turns that showed up in the last quarter of the book were unexpected. This was just a highly entertaining read. I really liked it!
I, of course, won't give away the ending, though I am not sure I could summarize it if I tried. The sheer drama of the wrap up will leave you shocked.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me an advanced digital copy to read and give my honest review. It was a 4 star read!

Happy Reading!

The premise of this book sounded interesting. A widow finds that her supposedly deceased husband is actually alive and with a new wife. What follows, however, is a confusing tale in which neither wife is entirely sure of what is real.
Eva, the first wife, has a ten-year-old son called Caiden with her dead husband Hugo. Five years after his death, she moves on, marries Zach, and moves to a new town. That is where she finds the new wife, Madison, her eerily familiar husband, Theo, and baby Emily. Eva has a history of mental illness, and she is constantly questioning her reality throughout the entire book. Adding to that, possible lies Zach is telling and her new friendships, there are a lot of characters and plot lines to keep track of.
My Husband's Wife can be divided in three parts. Eva's narrative, showing how she believes Theo is Hugo and the steps she takes to try to get proof. Madison's part repeats most of the events from the first time, with just a dash of new information coming from the other POV. Finally, the last chapters of the book bring the resolution of the story and an increase in stakes.
I identified a lot with our two main characters; I was confused throughout the whole story. While we, as readers, are supposed to agree with Eva the Theo is Hugo, the way her inner monologue is written makes it sound like she is actually crazy. Same thing is Madison. Maybe some will see this as the writing being so good that the author managed to extremely accurately portray their inner conflicts, but I found it made everything harder to understand.
Finally, I have mixed feelings about the ending. One of my favorite things in mystery novels is when even minor details and/or characters turn out to fit into the bigger picture. My Husband's Wife does an excellent job of that. In my opinion, though, it might have done that way too well. Everything is intertwined and, I found, slightly convoluted.
I am sad to say this book was not it for me. But readers who enjoy thrillers that put you in the mind of the characters and intertwining stories might enjoy this more than me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Carla Kovach, and Bookouture for the advanced copy. This review is left voluntarily and honestly.

Carla Kovach’s My Husband’s Wife is a dark, twisted psychological thriller that grips you from the very first page and doesn’t let go. This is the kind of story that demands to be read in one sitting—filled with tension, shocking revelations, and a lingering sense of unease that makes you question everything you’re being told.
What stands out most is how cleverly the novel is constructed. Kovach masterfully blurs the line between truth and deception, weaving a narrative that keeps readers second-guessing at every turn. Just when you think you’ve figured out what’s real, a new layer is revealed, shattering assumptions and pulling you even deeper into the web of lies and secrets.
The pacing is relentless yet balanced, offering enough character depth and emotional weight to ground the story while never sacrificing momentum. The characters themselves are complex, flawed, and deeply human, which makes their choices—and the consequences that follow—all the more unsettling. Kovach’s ability to capture both vulnerability and menace in her characters ensures that readers are constantly torn between sympathy and suspicion.
Ultimately, My Husband’s Wife is an addictive and well-crafted thriller that thrives on uncertainty. It’s a novel that keeps you engaged not just with its shocking twists, but with its atmosphere of paranoia and doubt that lingers long after the final page. For fans of psychological thrillers that are both cleverly written and emotionally gripping, Carla Kovach has delivered a standout addition to the genre.

Five years ago Eva buried her husband after he committed suicide and has recently moved, while starting a new life as a wedding planner. She is shocked when she meets a new couple who are planning a wedding, as she is sure the groom is her husband l, but he doesn’t seem to know who she is. Is the groom really her husband and will secrets be revealed?
I had heard a lot of good things about this author but was yet to read a book by her, therefore I decided to give this a go. I was drawn into the concept of this one as it sounded fun and mysterious. This was certainly a wild, twisty ride which had me turning the pages, however at times felt a bit disordered and it took me a while to warm to the writing style. Overall this was an interesting read with plenty of drama but a bit repetitive at times. Even though I had a few minor issues, I would read more by this author. 3.5 stars rounded down. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

Enjoyed this one on both audio and ebook. It definitely delivers when it comes to intrigue and mystery. The author weaves a well developed storyline that keeps you guessing and wondering what’s coming around the corner. Some likeable and unlikeable characters with some being irritating but maybe that was the idea. The pace definitely ramped up in the last 1/4 with many a twist along the way. Engaging read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to listen/read and review #MyHusbandsWife

Loved the premise for this and the execution didn’t disappoint.
Eva, her son and new husband leave for their new life. 5 years after the death of her husband. Whilst starting her new job she runs into her dead husband, planning his wedding to his new partner.
Whilst Eva is convinced Theo is Hugo, no one else is, including Theo’s fiancé Madison.
Eva tries to prove she is right but is she putting herself in danger or is her fragile mind close to breaking point.
I enjoyed the split POV between Eva and Madison to reveal the truth and the twists of the story kept it intriguing right up to the end.
A great psychological thriller.

Thank you NetGalley, the Publisher and Author for this advanced reader copy.
I give this book 3.5 stars. I definitely enjoyed the book and I love a good page-turner thriller but the plot was so far fetched and the women were unlikeable. Overall though, it was still good.
The title and cover are both misleading. There is no other wife and all 3 women in the story have different hair colors.
I did find one error where Madison describes her eyes as green but they are actually blue. Simple typo to correct.

Overall I enjoyed this one. An easy popcorn thriller. Maybe a little repetitive and long winded through the middle but would still recommend for a quick mysterious read. The narrator did a really great job as well!

I had the recent privilege of receiving an ARC copy of My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach—and I could not put it down! From the very first page, I was hooked by the gripping plot, layered characters, and the undercurrent of tension that just kept building.
This twisty psychological thriller had me second-guessing everything. I kept trying to piece it all together, but just when I thought I had it figured out, the story flipped and left me stunned. The ending? Totally unexpected and absolutely satisfying. I Highly recommended for fans of twisty domestic thrillers with jaw-dropping endings.

I loved the premise of the book. The characters are also depicted very well despite their complex nature. There were many instances I thought I had figured the plot out and a twist would appear. This is what I always look for in a good page-turner and I was definitely not disappointed.
The second half was more interesting and fast paced than the first. I liked that the first half was more about setting the atmosphere for the reader.
I would recommend this book to everyone, and keep a lookout for future works by the author.
4.75 stars!

As a long-time fan of Carla Kovach’s Gina Harte series, I was excited to pick up My Husband’s Wife—and it did not disappoint. With this standalone psychological thriller, Kovach proves that her talent goes far beyond detective fiction.
The story is filled with intriguing, complex characters, each with hidden layers that kept me invested from the very first page. What impressed me most was the way Kovach consistently led me down the wrong path—just when I thought I had figured things out, she pulled the rug out from under me with another clever twist.
Suspenseful, unsettling, and impossible to put down, My Husband’s Wife is a gripping read that fans of psychological thrillers will not want to miss. Highly recommended!

A fresh start for Eva and her new husband goes disastrously wrong when, during the first week of her job as a wedding planner, she meets a couple planning their dream wedding, the only problem is that the groom looks exactly like Eva’s deceased husband who has been dead for five years. With emotions running high Eva starts to doubt her own memories and as her behaviour becomes more and more erratic so everything around her starts to disintegrate.
This is an interesting story especially when we start to get the point of view of three other women who are involved in this complicated story of hidden identity. With several unreliable narrators, there were a few parts of the story where I had to suspend belief but that’s the beauty of fiction and I was engrossed enough to keep turning the pages as there’s lots of action, plenty of twists and turns and a few compelling storylines I never expected.
Overall My Husband’s Wife is an entertaining read, with a satisfying conclusion.

I loved the premise of this book, but not the way the story unfolded. If I hadn’t been sent an ARC, I suspect I wouldn’t have finished it.
Having said that, the second half engrossed me a lot more than the first half.
There were a couple of twists I didn’t expect, which made it more enjoyable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for sending me this advance e-copy.

3.75stars-MY HUSBAND’S WIFE by Carla Kovach is a contemporary, adult, psychological thriller focusing on three women connected by loss and death.
Told from three omniscient third person perspectives (Eva, Madison, Nicole) MY HUSBAND’S WIFE, told in three parts, follows Eva as she embarks on a new life, a new husband and a new job five years after the death of her first husband Hugo, but as the resident wedding planner for a local venue, one of Eva’s first clients is a young woman whose husband-to-be Theo, is the doppleganger for her late husband Hugo. Determined to uncover the truth, Eva launches an ill-conceived campaign of discovery only to be accused of madness as she gets closer to the truth. Trying to convince everyone, including Theo’s fiancé Madison, that all is not right, someone else is adding fuel to the proverbial fire, someone who knows more than anyone could have ever imagined.
The world building follows several intersecting pathways as Eva, Madison and Nicole’s odyssey of discovery pulls not only Madison’s fiancé Theo, but Eva’s new husband Zach down the rabbit-hole of secrets and lies, murder and madness. Eva’s past is mired in psychological issues, and the inconsistent information and contradiction forces the reader to deviate between honesty and lies, acting as their own investigator and detective. There is plenty of redundancy and duplication especially between Eva and Madison’s POV as the events overlap with one another; the conflict resolution felt like a rush to the finish.
MY HUSBAND’S WIFE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, madness and murder, acceptance and moving on. The slow building premise is twisted and tragic; the characters are anxious, vulnerable and often TSTL as they ignore the copious number of red flags and obvious lies but saying that, there would not be a story if everything was smooth !
