A fresh start for Eva and her new husband goes disastrously wrong when, during the first week of her job as a wedding planner, she meets a couple planning their dream wedding, the only problem is that the groom looks exactly like Eva’s deceased husband who has been dead for five years. With emotions running high Eva starts to doubt her own memories and as her behaviour becomes more and more erratic so everything around her starts to disintegrate.
This is an interesting story especially when we start to get the point of view of three other women who are involved in this complicated story of hidden identity. With several unreliable narrators, there were a few parts of the story where I had to suspend belief but that’s the beauty of fiction and I was engrossed enough to keep turning the pages as there’s lots of action, plenty of twists and turns and a few compelling storylines I never expected.
Overall My Husband’s Wife is an entertaining read, with a satisfying conclusion.

I loved the premise of this book, but not the way the story unfolded. If I hadn’t been sent an ARC, I suspect I wouldn’t have finished it.
Having said that, the second half engrossed me a lot more than the first half.
There were a couple of twists I didn’t expect, which made it more enjoyable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for sending me this advance e-copy.

3.75stars-MY HUSBAND’S WIFE by Carla Kovach is a contemporary, adult, psychological thriller focusing on three women connected by loss and death.
Told from three omniscient third person perspectives (Eva, Madison, Nicole) MY HUSBAND’S WIFE, told in three parts, follows Eva as she embarks on a new life, a new husband and a new job five years after the death of her first husband Hugo, but as the resident wedding planner for a local venue, one of Eva’s first clients is a young woman whose husband-to-be Theo, is the doppleganger for her late husband Hugo. Determined to uncover the truth, Eva launches an ill-conceived campaign of discovery only to be accused of madness as she gets closer to the truth. Trying to convince everyone, including Theo’s fiancé Madison, that all is not right, someone else is adding fuel to the proverbial fire, someone who knows more than anyone could have ever imagined.
The world building follows several intersecting pathways as Eva, Madison and Nicole’s odyssey of discovery pulls not only Madison’s fiancé Theo, but Eva’s new husband Zach down the rabbit-hole of secrets and lies, murder and madness. Eva’s past is mired in psychological issues, and the inconsistent information and contradiction forces the reader to deviate between honesty and lies, acting as their own investigator and detective. There is plenty of redundancy and duplication especially between Eva and Madison’s POV as the events overlap with one another; the conflict resolution felt like a rush to the finish.
MY HUSBAND’S WIFE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, madness and murder, acceptance and moving on. The slow building premise is twisted and tragic; the characters are anxious, vulnerable and often TSTL as they ignore the copious number of red flags and obvious lies but saying that, there would not be a story if everything was smooth !

This book is the reason why I am obsessed with Kovach’s writing!
Just when I think I have a handle on the plot she pulls several fast ones on me.
I figured out part of the major plot halfway through but Kovach embedded some more surprises for me.
The story will mess with your mind and you may even begin to question whether you’re believing what you think you’re reading!

carla, girl!! you had me all over the place with this one. there were so many easter eggs woven through each storyline, i could barely keep up.
i loved seeing ava, madison, and nicole form this little family. they truly needed each other in the end, even if it took so much devastation to get there. another life lesson, ladies: never let a man control the narrative.
the way hugo was built up as this completely unhinged figure!! his own foster mom terrified of him… absolutely chilling. the way he inserted himself into each woman’s life, only to unravel when everything started crashing down around him? the ultimate revenge. who knew just how far someone would go.
and nicole… i adored her tenacity. she may have had a smaller presence, and even been underestimated because of her substance issues, but her mind was so sharp. she was clever, strategic, and the one quietly pulling strings. the conductor, while everyone else played their parts. it was so satisfying watching it all unfold.

My Husband's Wife is a tense, drama-filled, fast-paced psychological thriller. Eva's husband died five years ago. She is now happily re-married to Zach, a wonderful man who is thrilled to be in Eva's life helping to raise her son. They have now moved to a charming seaside town and Eva has started a new job as a wedding planner. During her first week, she's tasked with planning Madison and Theo's wedding. When they arrive to Eva's office, Eva can't believe her eyes. She is staring at her deceased husband. However, Theo acts like he's never met Eva before. Eva doesn't understand not only how her dead husband is alive but also why he is marrying someone else. In addition to facing this surreal situation, Eva is realizing that Zach is hiding things from her. Are both her marriages complete lies?
My Husband's Wife is action-packed and full of unexpecting twists. To be honest, there was actually a bit too much going on for me. There were so many storylines involving different characters that I was left confused at parts. A few of the storylines were definitely unnecessary. The ending, in particular, felt both rushed and forced. Overall, the connections between the characters, as well as some of the twists, were extremely far-fetched, making the whole story feel unrealistic. With that said, I did appreciate the multiple POVs and short chapters. I honestly did not know who to trust or believe. While an easy read, I just can't get over all of the unrealistic parts of the book.

I read this book in just two days! The first day I started reading it, I read 51%!! It was such a great thriller book with all the twists and turns. Just when you thought you had it figured out there was a new twist. I can’t wait to read more from this author!!!

This book begins with an intriguing premise. What if your dead husband wasn’t really dead? Eva is rebuilding her life after the suicide five years earlier of her husband Hugo. She has remarried, moved to a beautiful new home by the seaside and is starting a new job as a wedding planner at a bespoke hotel. One of her first clients seems to be Hugo, now calling himself Theo. I was drawn into the book by this premise but found the gaslighting scenes difficult to read, even though these are a common feature of the domestic noir genre. The mystery and its resolution were interesting. Carla Kovachs tells the story from three perspectives Eva, Nicole and Madison - the husband’s wife of the title. Through this narrative strategy the mystery is gradually revealed.

Y’all! Imagine planning the perfect wedding… only to find out the groom is your dead husband. 😳 Yeah, Eva’s world flips harder than a pancake. Kovach drops us right into the dizzy panic—you can practically taste the tension.
Eva’s raw and relatable, Theo’s smooth-as-sin but shady, and Madison is all sugar-sweet innocence you just know can’t last. The writing? Sharp, cinematic, and addictive—every scene hums with unease.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Juicy, fast, and compulsively readable. A couple twists I saw coming, but still a delicious thriller snack. 💍🔥
Thanks to Bookouture for providing this advance copy via #NetGalley for my honest, voluntary review. #MyHusbandsWife

felt this was a tense, twisty domestic thriller that had me hooked from the premise alone: Eva, a wedding planner, is meeting a new client when her fiancé walks in—and she instantly recognizes him as her husband Hugo, the man she buried five years ago. Only now he’s going by Theo, with a new fiancée and a newborn in his arms. From that moment, the story spins into secrets, lies, and betrayals that kept me flipping pages.
I really enjoyed the central mystery and the uneasy dynamic between Eva and Theo. Even though I figured out the twist early, it was still fun to watch how it unraveled and to see the pieces come together. The book was put together well, with a steady build of tension and plenty of suspenseful moments that kept me reading.
My one wish? That the chapters had clearer headings for POV and timeline. There are switches between past and present, as well as several different perspectives, and having that labeled would have made it a smoother read.
Overall, though, this was a well-paced, addictive thriller with an intriguing setup and a satisfying payoff. A solid 4 stars from me!

✨ARC READ REVIEW✨
My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley for my ARC copy of this fantastic book!
If you want a book full of twists and turns this is the book for you. I really enjoyed the fast paced storyline, the development of characters and I found the ending was great at tying together lose ends throughout the book.
Synopsis
When Eva, her husband Zack and son Caiden move to Combe Martin from Malvern it is meant to be a fresh start. 5 years prior Eva had lost her husband, Zach’s father to suicide. However, as she gets stuck into her role as wedding planner at a nearby hotel she is positive that her new client is her dead ex husband. What follows is a twisty tale where lies are exposed and Eva’s sanity is questioned.
A fantastic read and a worthy 5⭐️s.

This was a new author to me. I found it a good read but did feel it dragged for the first half & there was a lot of characters to meet & get used to. I did want to keep reading to find out what had happened to Hugo but was slightly disappointed by the ending. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book through an ARC & will look at other books written by this author.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘My Husband’s Wife’ written by Carla Kovach in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Eva is starting a new job as wedding planner at the Sea Horse Hotel and her first clients are Madison and Theo with their baby Emily. When the couple walk into the room Eva is shocked as she recognises Theo as her husband Hugo who she thought had died five years ago. She knows Theo recognises her too and she needs to warn Madison before they get married.
‘My Husband’s Wife’ is a tale of deceit and lies with a plot that becomes more involving the deeper I’ve got into the story. As the characters of Madison, Eva and her friend Nicole interact they get entangled in the lies told by Theo until Madison believes she’s going mad and Eva is scared her secret will be revealed. It’s set in picturesque Combe Martin in glorious North Devon, but as the story edges closer to a conclusion it became confusing and I completely lost track of which character was where and doing what, and I felt almost as if the author didn’t know how to finish it. But apart from a rather abrupt ending this thriller kept me turning pages, and despite having a good idea of what was happening I was unable to stop reading until I’d reached the final page. Not my favourite Carla Kovach book but a pretty good read anyway.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
2 stars
I hated the writing style and was not impressed with the ending. The story didn't start picking up until about 55% in and it started to catch my attention. I would not recommend this book.
Rating it 2 stars because out of the 77 I've read this year, I've read worse.

Thank you NetGalley for another arch. This one was a lot for me emotionally. Reading about multiple men who gaslight other women as a manipulative tactic just hits home after processing my abusive relationship. The storyline was effective, but I felt that not only the book dragged on, but it was just too many characters to keep track of after a while. Overall, it was a decent read.
Out on Sept 8th.

I’m sorry to say, despite a good start, this one fell far short.
I was really enjoying this book at first. I was intrigued from the beginning and refused to put it down because I so badly wanted to know what was going to happen. There was a ton of potential and it was a quick read.
That being said, I was very tempted to DNF due to the poor writing. It felt very choppy and juvenile. I would have DNF’d for that had this not been an ARC and/or the story not hooking me quickly.
Sadly, the end completely lost me. It was hard to keep up, the story didn’t feel well thought out, it was abrupt, and just altogether unsatisfying.
I see some other reviews saying they love her work so I may give one of her other books a chance, as again, I saw the potential. I just hope it keeps up throughout its entirety and this writing was an anomaly!

My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach
Holy. This was deeply twisted in the most delicious of ways. The plot kept thickening, twisting, and turning.
I love not knowing what will happen next, and Carla curated quite the tale with this book. The levels some people go to to hide the truth, and the depths some go to to find it- diabolical.
I liked all of the women in this book. They all had flaws, but that only made them stronger. And I loved how their connection honestly held up. The ties that bind are no joke.
The scenery in this book was described beautifully, and I loved how it balanced the storyline so well. It was just as much a character as Eva, Madison, and Nicole.
This book brilliantly handled manipulation, gaslighting, lying, and deceit. While some scenes were uncomfortable, they were handled beautifully, and it did not feel like Carla was exploiting anything.
This was a story that sucks you in. It became impossible to stop reading, because with every chapter something else was revealed, and as the pieces started to connect, I had to know what happened next.
An excellent addition to the summer of thrillers, this is the perfect book to curl up with and get lost in.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read an early copy of this book!
All opinions expressed are my own.
Where do I even begin?! This book had me hooked from the very first page!
I automatically knew from the title that this would be an interesting read. I read this book in one sitting and refused to put it down, the plot was nothing but suspense. All of the characters were absolutely mind-blowing! Once I thought I had an answer, or solved the mystery, I was only led to more suspicion. An exciting page-turner, guaranteed to take you on a mental rollercoaster of guessing!

My Husband’s Wife ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
“Five years ago I buried my husband. Today I saw him with his new wife.”
The synopsis of this book had me intrigued right away. I love a twisty psychological story where nothing is straightforward, and oh did this one deliver!
The women are so well written and feel distinctly different in their POVs. They are both complex with similar but different struggles. As a reader you question everything Madison and Eva are thinking and feeling. Is one of them crazy? Are both of them? Is neither? And who is Theo? The POV structure was perfect too; the more the suspense builds the more often you change perspective keeping you locked in and desperate for more.
While this doesn’t necessarily pack the same punch as other thrillers (wasn’t scary or high stakes), the uncertainty of what was coming next and how it was all going to come together was fantastic! It had all the elements I want in a psychological thriller and I will definitely be reading more by this author.
A big thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Carla Kovach for the eARC. My Husband’s Wife releases this week, September 8th 📖

I had both the eBook and audio book for this title, Sometimes the narrator can spoil an otherwise good book, but that wasn't the case with this book. I thoroughly enjoyed both the book and audio book. The characters were believable and made you both root for them and also be suspicious of them at the same time. One of those can't put it down until the end titles.
