My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach is a twisty, bingeable domestic thriller that kept me hooked from the first chapter. Its full with secrets, shocking reveals, and plenty of drama. Some parts were a little over the top, but honestly, that only added to the fun. If you enjoy thrillers packed with twists and don’t mind suspending a little disbelief, this one is definitely worth picking up!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved following the mystery of the husband and wondering if that really was him. This book had such a hold on me. There were times when I was reading this that I couldn't put it down. I kept thinking that maybe the main character, Eva, was going crazy. I know when I did get to the end... I could not believe it. It left me curious about a sequel!

My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach was a gripping psychological thriller that hooked me right from the start. Eva believes she has moved on with her life after the tragic death of her husband five years earlier. She has remarried, relocated, and started fresh with her son. But everything unravels the moment she meets a new client at her wedding planning job—Madison, whose fiancé Theo looks exactly like Hugo, the man Eva buried. That hook alone had me racing through the pages.

What I enjoyed most was the way the story is told through multiple perspectives. Eva’s paranoia, Madison’s uncertainty, and Nicole’s storyline all intersect in a way that constantly made me second-guess what was really happening. The shifting POVs didn’t just add suspense, they gave depth to the story and made it feel layered and realistic.

The pacing is strong, with short chapters that make it easy to keep saying “just one more.” There are plenty of gasp-worthy twists, but what sets this book apart is how emotional it is too. Themes of grief, betrayal, and hidden truths run throughout, making the characters’ choices believable even when they’re messy.

Kovach builds an atmosphere of unease that had me questioning everyone’s motives, and the final reveals tied everything together in a way that was both satisfying and surprising. It’s not just a twisty thriller—it’s also a story about trust, family, and the secrets people will do anything to keep.

If you love psychological thrillers that keep you on edge with shocking reveals and emotional depth, My Husband’s Wife is one to add to your list.

This was my first thriller in a long time and it did not disappoint. There were lies and betrayal and so many unexpected twists that I did not see coming. And a found family that sticks together in the end. 💥

I read this a few weeks ago now and it's still on my mind, thoroughly enjoyed the writing and the plot. i did think the set up was a little slow but that's because i wanted to get into the drama straight away. i loved the multiple POVs, it only helped make the twist more interesting as all throughout i was so confused at which direction the plot was going. very well written and i liked that the characters were still relatable

Everything and everyone is not at all as it seems in this thriller. Eva loses her husband who supposedly committed suicide and after struggling with her loss, she is happily remarried and agrees to a move to a new place that her latest husband has remodelled for their family. But Eva gets the shock of her life when she meets her former husband again during her time greeting new customers (she is a wedding planner) at her new job. From there on, the story slowly unravels and you have to read it to know what happens next! Great book, I enjoyed all the twists and turns! Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity of an advanced copy.

I enjoyed this as a quick thriller read, the twist wasn’t as surprising but I do read a lot of these types of books

My Husband's Wife was an excellent read!
This was a brilliant psychological thriller .. wow! What a page turner, I couldn’t put it down. There were plenty of twists and turns all the way through that you didn’t expect. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more standalone’s in the future.
The characters were great, the story itself was excellent and very suspenseful and the style of writing was perfect.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys to read this genre.

This was such a fast read as I loved the premise. Eva buried her husband five years ago and is still dealing with grief. She is a wedding planner and tries to heal her heart by giving other women their dream wedding. Madison is the bride she is working by with next and she tells Eva that her husband Theo is on his way. When Theo walks in, Eva almost falls to the floor as Theo is the man she buried five years ago. What happens next had be captivated and glued to the pages. This is a domestic thriller that deals with issues women face and the secrets we can hide. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

This is a good suspenseful thriller that keeps you guessing. I enjoyed the plot and found it easy to build a picture of the characters. There are some good gasp moments in the story that keep you hooked in and saying “just one more chapter!” A good twisty thriller!

This was a good thriller which dealt with lots of difficult subjects, principally grief, gaslighting, post natal depression and many more. All of these are covered very well and sympathetically. The story is essentially about three women, all who have young children and are in or have been in a relationship with someone who has caused them distress.

The three main female characters are all in their own way strong storytellers and each gets their chance to tell their story. They interlink through the men in their lives and the characters become more powerful and clearer to understand as each protagonist tells their own story.

The plot is very well told and the final chapters I found difficult to put down as I couldn’t wait to see what would happen at the reveal.

Great thriller and one of the would recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Stars:

Five years ago, Eva buried her husband. Today, she’s face-to-face with him… planning his new wedding. That premise alone screams popcorn thriller, and honestly, it delivers exactly that. Fast-paced, bingeable, and just twisty enough to keep me flipping pages.

The setup is juicy: Eva, a wedding planner, meets Madison and her fiancé Theo—aka Eva’s supposedly dead husband—and from there it’s a spiral of secrets, lies, and family drama. It hooked me right away.

That said, some parts (especially Nicole’s POV near the end) felt rushed, and at times the “mystery” leaned more confusing than suspenseful. I guessed early on that Nicole was involved with Hugo and that Aaron was his son, but other twists caught me off guard—Emily not being Theo’s was a solid surprise. I just wish that subplot had more depth, because it felt like it was left hanging.

My biggest gripe: the POV shifts. Eva’s chapters are in first person, while Nicole’s and Madeline’s are in third. The inconsistency yanked me out of the story a few times, and I didn’t feel like it added much.

But overall? This was an engaging, easy-to-devour thriller. The kind you pick up for the drama, the wild premise, and the gasp-worthy moments, and you enjoy it while you’re in it. Perfect if you’re in the mood for a bingeable, twisty read.

A tense, twisty domestic thriller that hooked me from page one. I loved watching the “is he or isn’t he?” mystery unravel, and the shifting POVs kept me second guessing everyone. A couple reveals are wild, but Kovach makes them land. Fast, addictive, and very bingeable.

Loved!!!!! This author is one of my favorites. This one is one of her stand alone books but she also writes the Detective Gina Harte Series. If you haven’t read that series then you are truly missing out. Those are the bomb. Now back to this awesome read. It had me hooked from the very first page. What I loved most was the multiple point of views and the way it all came together in the end. At the beginning you are like what is going on but then by the end you are like OMG what did I just read. You are left totally speechless but in such a good way. Now let me sum up this book for you. The characters were all perfect, the plot was entertaining and the ending was shocking. What more can you ask for in a read. I can’t wait for this author to write another book. She is wonderful and I know you will love her just as much as I do.

My Husband’s Wife is a psychological thriller with plenty of drama woven in, a story that shows how secrets, lies, and past decisions can completely reshape people’s lives. At its heart, the book follows two women whose lives become unexpectedly connected through love, betrayal, and choices that come back years later with devastating consequences. Nothing is ever straightforward in this story — the lines between truth and deception blur, and just when you think you understand the characters, another layer is revealed.

What I really liked about this book is the way Carla Kovach builds tension. It’s not the kind of thriller filled with constant action, but one that creeps under your skin with suspense and emotional depth. The relationships are messy, complicated, and painfully real, and that makes the twists even more impactful. It’s a domestic thriller, but also very much a drama about love, loyalty, and the cost of hiding who we truly are.

For me, it was a thought-provoking read that kept me turning the pages, because I wanted to know not just what happens, but why the characters act the way they do. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that explore both the dark side of human nature and the fragile bonds of relationships, My Husband’s Wife is definitely worth reading.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After her husband's suicide several years ago, Eva moved to a new town with her 10-year-old son and new husband. Upon starting a new job, one of Eva’s new clients has an uncanny resemblance to her dead husband. This sends Eva into a whirlwind of trying to figure out what maybe going on.

This twisty storyline has us also following perspectives Nicole, a woman who befriends Eva in her new town and Madison a woman who is now in a relationship with Eva’s supposed dead husband.

I thought this thriller was good, some repetition in chapters that made it drag a little at some points. I thought it was an interesting concept and twisty.

The plot of the story has a great twist and premise to it. Overall it started out strong but the flow and the writing style was not something that meshed well for me. It could be that it’s not something that is my style but I found myself overall struggling to enjoy the book due to this and wanting the ending to come.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy! Overall, this was just an average thriller to me. The premise of the story sounded great and different than typical thrillers but it just did not live up to it :( Two of the FMCs are so similar that I kept confusing the two and the story started to drag around the middle of the novel. I did enjoy the found family plot of it all and really loved the epilogue!
