My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach is a twisty, fast-paced thriller that kept me hooked. The plot is full of secrets, betrayals, and surprising turns, and I found myself second-guessing every character. Perfect if you like domestic suspense with a few jaw-dropping moments.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟from me

My Husband’s Wife, is the new standalone thriller by author Carla Kovach.
Eva, a dedicated wedding planner, has rebuilt her life after the tragic loss of her husband, Hugo, five years ago. She’s now married to Zach, devoted to their young son, and seemingly settled into a happy new chapter. But her world tilts violently when Madison, an excited bride-to-be, hires her to plan the perfect wedding. Madison’s fiancé, Theo, walks into Eva’s office—and Eva freezes. She knows that face. She knows those eyes. Theo is Hugo. The same man she buried.
Mixed feelings with this one, it started strongly and I did enjoy reading it but continually felt annoyed by some of the characters.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 rounded to four.
The writing style wasn’t exactly my jam, and throwing in new POVs late in the game was a little confusing, but I enjoyed this book once I got used to the voice! The overall outcome was a little predictable, but I feel like it came with the territory of the premise itself, although getting there was extremely twisty and everyone/everything was something to keep your eye on with plenty of twists and surprises.

My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps you on edge from start to finish. The twists and suspense are brilliantly executed, and the tension between the characters is intense and believable. I was completely absorbed in the story, constantly guessing who could be trusted and what would happen next. It’s a compelling, page-turning read for anyone who enjoys dark, twisty thrillers.

Eva is a wedding planner, and loves her job. Five years ago she lost her husband, Hugo, but has since got married to Zach, and has a young son. Then Madison comes into her life. Madison is getting married, and Eve is going to be her wedding planner. Madison and her husband to be, Theo, come to meet Eve, and to her total shock, Eve recognises Theo as Hugo, her dead husband.
And so begins a story of twists and turns, lies and deceit, and not knowing who, if anyone, can be trusted.
This was a real page turner, a tense thriller which I enjoyed. Thank you for my advance copy.

I’m giving this book an overall four stars as an average between my rating for the story (5 stars) and for the writing (3 stars).
The story itself is a gripping page turner. You are kept guessing. You want to know what’s next. It’s really good.
The writing is unfortunately disjointed and can be confusing at times.

As a big fan of Carla Kovach’s Gina Harte series, I was excited to get into My Husband’s Wife. While it didn’t quite reach the same heights for me, it was still a solid and enjoyable read. The pacing kept me turning pages, even when certain parts felt a little frustrating. By the end, the threads came together nicely, delivering a satisfying conclusion. Not my favourite from Kovach, but still a decent, well-written thriller worth picking up.

Five years ago, Eva's world comes crashing down when her husband, Hugo, appears to commit suicide, leaving her as a single mother to a little boy, Caiden. Ready to start moving forward with her life, Eva finds love with Zach and remarries. The perfect step father, the perfect husband, and ready to move into the perfect home, leaving the past behind her. A new job as a wedding planner helps Eva to really start a new beginning and it is a career that's she's really enjoying until she starts planning the wedding of someone she didn't expect to ever see again - her Hugo. Five years after his death, how is he here? How is he getting married? How does he not recognise her? The further she tries to find answers, the more her life takes a turn for the worst but she is determined to find out the truth;even if it kills her.
I absolutely loved this book. I read the whole book in under 24 hours and just could not put it down. it was twisty, turny, flipped upside down at every corner and my mind was racing with how this story would end. I've not read a book this good for quite some time and I will definitely be reading more from Carla!!! Everyone needs to read this book.....just wow! Speechless!

This thriller sung to me for some reason. The cover and tagline/blurb really drew me in, I was so incredibly eager to read it. It didn't disappoint one bit. From the beginning I was hooked. Who was this man? Was he her husband? If so, how?? You question every single character from start to finish, and it's just so juicy and thrilling. I'll be checking out more of Carla's books because this was so good

This was a riveting read. Great plot and characters and totally unexpected ending. Really had me hooked.

An absolutely addictive thriller from Carla Kovach. Her writing is superb and I just couldn't put it down. Very addictive!

Eva is convinced her dead husband still alive when she meets a couple whose wedding she has to plan. But is it really him or her mind playing tricks. This book packs in the mystery and intrigue from page 1. No one or nothing is as it seems. Everyone'shiding a secret that may kill them all. This books is a faced paced thriller, that will leave you shocked and wanting more.

I have just finished My Husband’s Wife and I’m still reeling from the emotional whirlwind Carla Kovach masterfully created. This gripping psychological thriller isn’t just about secrets and betrayal—it’s a powerful reminder of the strength we find when everything falls apart. The twists kept me breathless, but it was the raw humanity of the characters that truly moved me. Kovach paints a chilling portrait of love gone wrong, yet somehow, through the darkness, she shows us how resilience can rise. It’s a story of survival, of facing the truth no matter how painful, and of reclaiming your voice when it’s been silenced. After reading this book I ever felt trapped or doubted your worth, this book definitely spoke to me.
Highly recommend for anyone who loves thrillers with heart.

when i saw the blurb of this book i was already excited. when i read the book i read with that excitement only ramping itself up with each minute i read.the "oh" moments and "what the" moments were great. it was fab. it was somehow a joyous ride simply because of how tense it made you. something all thriller readers really wants from a book was there every step of the way with this one.
gripping most definitely.
because what would you do if the man you thought was dead. was there in front of you. right there. alive. definitely not dead. and hes there in front of you definitely alive with a new woman, and a new child???
well, if i was Eva id be running into the other direction screaming or id have fainted. and you can feel all of Eva's emotions bubbling up at this confrontation. you can see this wrecks her.
whats worse is this man standing there planning his wedding is acting as though he doesn't know who she is. yep, you heard me.
i was then full on girl gangin it for Eva when instead of finding the floor she finds her metal. and is a reflection of his placid surface. he doesn't need to know what going on with her underneath. for now she must act this thing out.
everyone is hiding things in this book. no one knows the depths of the people they are revolving around. and its about to get blooming marveloooooos to be part of.
this book was so very clever and everything fit together like a well planned, well written read.
Eva is the star of the show for me. she is who i wish i could be when facing up against turmoil. the grit in her was awesome.
dark and twisty this book was but all i found myself at the end was pure joy. joy from finding a most excellent read.

3.5★ – Some spoilers ahead

I enjoyed the book and the overall storyline. However, a few sections, particularly Nicole’s POV towards the end, felt a bit rushed. At times, moments that seemed intended to create mystery instead just left me feeling more confused than intrigued.
I guessed fairly early on that Nicole involved with Hugo and that Aaron was Hugo’s son, but there were other twists I didn’t see coming, like Emily not being Theo’s. I actually wish there had been more depth there as there's a lot left hanging: how did her pregnancy with her ex happen, what was the fallout, and how did it feed into the rest of the story?
One personal gripe: the POV shifts. Eva’s chapters were in first person, while Nicole’s and Madeline’s were in third. The inconsistency broke my immersion and made it harder to fully connect with each perspective. I just felt thrown about a bit and felt there was no need to "call" it a different POV when it then wasn't actually from THEIR perspective.
Overall, book was a good read and I would recommend it if someone wanted a casual read.

I could not put this one down! It was fast paced and exciting. As an avid thriller reader, I really should have seen the plot twist/explanation coming, but admittedly I did not. The only reason I knocked one star was because I felt like the whole explanation was a little overly complicated (not really hard to follow, but maybe a little more than it really needed to be in order to connect everyone). Overall though, this was different than a lot of thrillers i’ve read in the past, so thats always a win!

"My Husband's Wife" had me hooked from the first page and refused to let go. The twists were so sharp and unexpected that I found myself audibly gasping more than once. The pacing was relentless, balancing high-stakes action with moments of chilling suspense. Every character felt vivid and layered, making the danger feel all the more real. By the end, I was both breathless and desperate for the author’s next book.

I swear I have goosebumps from reading this book! I was frightened and scared and I could feel my heart pounding so many times. Theres quite a few characters in this and I didn’t know who to trust and I feared for a lot of characters safety.
This book is legit full of twists as soon as one comes then boom along comes another! And you know what the best thing is I definitely didn’t see them coming!

This is a very spooky thriller.
You’ve got the concept of your husband, faking his death.
And then you have so many other things thrown in the loop to create this very chaotic treat of a book.
I am really sad because the writing style just did not do it for me. I really really wanted to continue with this one, but about 50% in even though there was actually an activity happening and I was interested in reading my brain was just not having a good time with the very specific writing style..
When I tell you, I’m picky about writing style I’m not joking, especially when it comes to thrillers. It needs to be like as easy as a read with short paragraphs as I can get shorter chapters when possible because I feel like the way that a thriller is written heavily heavily Correlates to be reading experience and can make or break the thriller book. A book is gonna be more of a page Turner if I have to keep turning the pages more often because the paragraphs are shorter, but if there’s longer paragraphs in the chapters are much longer, my brain automatically feels like I have a bigger hill to get through every time versus Experiencing a really fun roller coaster ride where I just wanted to keep on going and there’s another chapter but it’s already over. This book did not excessively have long chapters or long paragraphs. That’s just something that I also really appreciate and thrillers. It was mainly the writing style on this that caused me to just not connect with it as much as I wanted to..
There is a solid chance I’ll pick this one back up again and finish it, but I made it to about 55% and then I just really was not feeling it. I can tell it’s a me thing because I really couldn’t pick out a single thing in this book that was written in executed poorly like it’s done so well. Please trust me when I say this is still a good thriller, and I’m just super picky about mine and that I genuinely think anyone who is wanting a solid thriller that will keep them up at night will enjoy this one.. I am buns that I just didn’t connect with it and the way that I wanted to and I just couldn’t find myself wanting to pick it back up and I was struggling to get through it which is not a good sign and it can lead to book slumps. Part of me is wondering if it’s just the actual concept that I’m not as invested in which could be part of it so I think I wanna check out other books from author as well..
I am only taking off a star because I didn’t finish the book, but I want to and because this book didn’t blow my mind away. It’s still really great read.
