"My Husband's Wife" had me hooked from the first page and refused to let go. The twists were so sharp and unexpected that I found myself audibly gasping more than once. The pacing was relentless, balancing high-stakes action with moments of chilling suspense. Every character felt vivid and layered, making the danger feel all the more real. By the end, I was both breathless and desperate for the author’s next book.

I swear I have goosebumps from reading this book! I was frightened and scared and I could feel my heart pounding so many times. Theres quite a few characters in this and I didn’t know who to trust and I feared for a lot of characters safety.
This book is legit full of twists as soon as one comes then boom along comes another! And you know what the best thing is I definitely didn’t see them coming!

This is a very spooky thriller.
You’ve got the concept of your husband, faking his death.
And then you have so many other things thrown in the loop to create this very chaotic treat of a book.
I am really sad because the writing style just did not do it for me. I really really wanted to continue with this one, but about 50% in even though there was actually an activity happening and I was interested in reading my brain was just not having a good time with the very specific writing style..
When I tell you, I’m picky about writing style I’m not joking, especially when it comes to thrillers. It needs to be like as easy as a read with short paragraphs as I can get shorter chapters when possible because I feel like the way that a thriller is written heavily heavily Correlates to be reading experience and can make or break the thriller book. A book is gonna be more of a page Turner if I have to keep turning the pages more often because the paragraphs are shorter, but if there’s longer paragraphs in the chapters are much longer, my brain automatically feels like I have a bigger hill to get through every time versus Experiencing a really fun roller coaster ride where I just wanted to keep on going and there’s another chapter but it’s already over. This book did not excessively have long chapters or long paragraphs. That’s just something that I also really appreciate and thrillers. It was mainly the writing style on this that caused me to just not connect with it as much as I wanted to..
There is a solid chance I’ll pick this one back up again and finish it, but I made it to about 55% and then I just really was not feeling it. I can tell it’s a me thing because I really couldn’t pick out a single thing in this book that was written in executed poorly like it’s done so well. Please trust me when I say this is still a good thriller, and I’m just super picky about mine and that I genuinely think anyone who is wanting a solid thriller that will keep them up at night will enjoy this one.. I am buns that I just didn’t connect with it and the way that I wanted to and I just couldn’t find myself wanting to pick it back up and I was struggling to get through it which is not a good sign and it can lead to book slumps. Part of me is wondering if it’s just the actual concept that I’m not as invested in which could be part of it so I think I wanna check out other books from author as well..
I am only taking off a star because I didn’t finish the book, but I want to and because this book didn’t blow my mind away. It’s still really great read.

My Husband’s Wife opens with the question, Is this her husband?—and from that moment, I was eager for answers. The constant twists and turns made it an enjoyable, quick read. This book had many layers that unfolded with each page, yet just as I thought I was figuring it out, a plot twist was added. While the beginning was a bit slow and it took me some time to adjust to the writing style, once the plot thickened, I was hooked. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a cozy fall-day thriller and mystery to curl up with.

My Husband’s Wife by Carla Kovach is a gripping domestic thriller that delivers a tense, twist-filled ride from start to finish. The story centers on Eva, a wedding planner who has recently remarried and settled into a beautiful new home with her husband, Zach, and her young son, Caiden. Life seems to be on an upward swing, until a meeting with a new couple, Madison and her fiancé, Theo, turns Eva’s world upside down. To her shock, Theo is the spitting image of her late husband, Hugo, a man she buried years ago. Or so she thought.
Told primarily from Eva’s point of view, the novel expertly blurs the line between reality and paranoia, drawing the reader into her increasingly shaky perspective. Kovach skillfully plants seeds of doubt about Eva’s memory, about Theo’s identity, and about who can genuinely be trusted, keeping you constantly second-guessing what’s real and what’s imagined. There’s an undercurrent of unease that runs through every chapter, and the author sustains that tension without letting it feel forced.
While some of the twists are slightly predictable for seasoned thriller readers, Kovach still manages to slip in unexpected turns that kept me on my toes. I appreciated the way she layered the suspense, never relying solely on shock value, but building genuine intrigue through character dynamics and well-timed reveals.
Overall, My Husband’s Wife is a well-crafted, fast-paced read that hooks you early and holds your attention to the very last page. It’s perfect for fans of domestic suspense who love flawed, complex protagonists and stories where every answer leads to new questions. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an addictive, binge-worthy thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Carla Kovach for the ARC, all opinions are my own.

This was just unbelievable. A crazy ride of a read and I loved every word of it. Hope to read more by the author soon.

A really good psychological thriller that keeps you guessing throughout. Information is drip fed to the reader so that you think you know what is going on but then another twist appears and you have to rethink everything, I read this in a day as I just needed to now what was going on.

My Husband’s Wife has a great spin on the idea that your spouse can be keeping secrets from you. Eva just moved to a new gorgeous house on the coast with her new husband and is settling in at her job wedding planning when her old husband walks in ready to be married. Except her old husband, Hugo, is going by Theo, claims to not know her… and died. From the start the mystery drops down and the tensions just continue to ramp up from there.
In addition the mystery/thriller element there’s some exploration of grief, anxiety, and mental health in many forms, and really that’s what sets this thriller apart from others. The ending was not to be believed, quite literally, but I found myself more and more engaged with Eva and her past and health. A good one for those who want a little more substance to their thrillers.

I was hooked from the very first chapter, Madison introducing her fiancé, Theo, who’s holding a newborn and then the shock that he’s actually Eva’s husband, presumed dead I had to keep reading just to find out how on earth this was going to play out.
The tension is relentless every glance between Eva and Theo is loaded with history, suspicion, and unspoken threats. I found myself second guessing everyone’s motives and trying to piece together the truth. The book really leans into the emotional stakes here: betrayal, grief, secrets, and the lengths someone will go to protect the life they’ve rebuilt.
This isn’t just a domestic thriller; it’s a messy, tangled web of love, lies, and unfinished business. The ending left me thinking about how well we ever really know the people we love and how much we might be willing to forgive.
If you enjoy high drama thrillers where every chapter ends with you thinking one more page this one is definitely for you.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for an ARC

A huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC copy of this gripping psychological thriller.
Reading a Carla Kovach novel is like putting your feet up and sinking into the most comfortable sofa — from the very first chapter, a sense of warmth envelopes you, and you know you’re not going anywhere until the last page is turned. I was hooked instantly, as always.
Without giving away any of the delicious twists and turns, I will say there were moments I wanted to physically scream at Eva, desperate for her to open her eyes! The story is a genius piece of manipulation, weaving its way through the tangled web of many lives. While the outcome wasn’t a complete shock, it still delivered that warm, satisfying feeling… well, right up until that very last sentence, which left me with quite a different sensation altogether.
Carla Kovach once again delivers a perfectly paced, emotionally charged read that kept me glued to the pages.

First ever book by Carla Kovach and boy I was NOT disappointed!
First off, I was intrigued by the title. Any kind of Psychological thriller is my jam and from the prologue I knew I would be ten toes deep into this book!
A bit of mystery mixed in with some thriller aspects.
If you bury your husband he shouldn’t be alive getting remarried should he?
After Eva’s husband, Hugo passes away, Eva looks to rebuild her life with her new husband, Zach. She and her son Caiden move into with Zach and Eva starts a new job as a wedding planner. On her first day of work her world gets flipped upside down. The man who is planning his wedding is none other than Hugo.. or is he?
Such a page turner, I couldn’t put it down! I was invested into finding out who this “Hugo” is and what his story was.
The twists had me shoooked. I was literally expecting exactly the opposite. I had myself convinced the whole time I knew what was going to happen only to be slapped in the face with another twisty turn.
I tried to put myself in Eva’s shoes.. what would I do? I loved her perspective, her emotions felt raw and undefined. This was honestly such a good read. It took me about 4 hours total, just continuously reading. I was that invested! I honestly hope there will be a second book.

I love a Carla Kovach book and this was no exception. This book centres around three women whose lives are interwoven in the most unlikely of ways.
The plot was somewhat predictable but written in such a way that it kept me engaged despite this.

What an intriguing read! I read this book in one day. I couldn't put it down and wanted to see how it would all end! I loved the way the author made me question the narrators. I wasn't sure what to believe! I really felt for all of the mothers in the book, especially the women who had dealt with unhealthy relationships in the past.

With a main character who sees things that might be there or not, and everyone having a secret, the first part of the book was fast and kept me hooked.
Unfortunately, the second part repeated the story from a different perspective. While this served a purpose for the story, it also meant that it repeated the timeline and provided little additional context, which significantly slowed down the book. The book would have been amazing if the two perspectives had been woven together.
Having said that, I enjoyed reading the book as it has an interesting plot and some strong characters.

This book was a 5 star must read. So many twists and turns. Loved the suspense. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole book. I definitely recommend this book

This book had an interesting premise. Imagine thinking your husband is deceased and then running into him when he is about to marry another woman. This book has a few surprises and a twist at the end.

-My Husbands Wife-
Instant page turner. Anxiety inducing, thrilling & simply chefs kiss.
Through each chapter you literally don’t know what’s real and what’s not. You lean one way and then another. It’s a mind maze.
“I owe you this much. The truth is dangerous”
This book will keep you guessing until the end.
The plots and twists were stellar. They just kept coming. I’m hoping that maybe there’s a second book to this. I love it.

In a bold move away from her well-known series, Carla Kovach delivers a standalone crime thriller that’s both intriguing and unsettling. My Husband’s Wife opens with a chilling question: could a dead husband still be alive? From there, the story spirals into a maze of secrets, deception, and psychological tension.
Kovach keeps the pages turning with her trademark twists and turns, though I found myself experiencing several moments of déjà vu—certain scenes felt oddly familiar, as if lifted from earlier chapters. Whether intentional or not, it added an eerie layer to the experience.
Despite that, the novel is cleverly constructed and gripping throughout. It’s refreshing to see the author take a slight detour from her usual path, and I thoroughly enjoyed this change in direction. A solid thriller that plays with perception and keeps you guessing to the end. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookoutre for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
What would you do if your husband died suddenly… and five years later, you saw him again in your new town, about to marry someone else?
My Husband’s Wife is a twist-filled psychological thriller told through the perspectives of three women—Eva, Madison, and Nicole each hiding secrets that slowly unravel. The plot is layered and suspenseful, constantly challenging the reader to piece together the truth.
Eva’s storyline, in particular, is emotionally gripping. Her struggle with past trauma and the disbelief she faces from those around her creates a strong undercurrent of tension. Madison adds depth and heart to the narrative, while Nicole’s chapters, although frustrating, complete the puzzle.
The book hooked me from the start, and I appreciated how real the characters felt. The writing is accessible, and the pacing mostly works well. That said, the middle section slows down slightly, and a few side characters could have been more fleshed out. The final reveal is clever, though not entirely unpredictable.
Still, this is a smart and engaging thriller with a satisfying ending. Fans of domestic suspense and multi-POV mysteries will enjoy this.

Perfect for fans of domestic thrillers that keep you second-guessing everyone.
