Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book. Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me at this time. I got part way through and have struggled to carry on reading or pick back up. Nothing to do with the author I just couldn’t get into the book.

Unfortunately this wasn’t for me I found the characters very wooden and the writing style boring. It was a very quick read but I found there was no depth and the pacing was also off.

Rook & Rebel is dramatic, messy, and oddly addictive. It definitely veers to be over the top at times, but that doesn’t stop it from being entertaining. The hero has that brooding edge nailed, while the heroine could have used a bit more backbone to really hold her own.

The story kept me turning the pages, though I found myself wanting more from certain aspects. The father/daughter subplot in particular had huge potential, but it was wrapped up far too quickly to feel truly satisfying. A slower build would have added much needed depth. On top of that, a tighter edit could have smoothed over some of the rough edges.

That said, the chemistry between the leads works, and there’s an undeniable pull to the narrative. If you’re looking for a biker romance that delivers high drama, strong emotion, and a dash of chaos, this one fits the your memo even if it leaves you wishing for a little more.

ROOK & REBEL BY KATE CREW: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I did not, in the slightest, expect to like this as much as I did. I've always been iffy with dark romance, I DNF'd Lights Out and thought Hooked was mediocre, though Hooked and Rook & Rebel had a very similar structure. However, it was executed so much better here, with compelling, layered characters who we love, and a plot that is funny, gripping, and tense at all the right moments.

Thanks to the publisher and author for the ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

I really struggled with this one, the premise seemed interesting but I didn’t make it far into the book.

The writing seemed repetitive at parts and the decisions the FMC was making didn’t make sense, and random at times.

Really wanted to like it!

If you are a fan of
#stalker romance
#biker romance
#found family
#morally grey mmc
Then this book is for you. The plot is a little absurd at some points; however it is a beautiful mix of funny and dark. The mmc and FMC are both likeable and their relationship is believable. I did love the banter between them and the side characters were all well written (I especially loved the little psycho Evie) A solid 3* read with a fast pace and well written characters .

Well this was rather good.

Ok, it was AMAZING!

Hot as hell.

Highly entertaining.

And what a cast of characters.

Dark, sarcastic and actually rather loveable.

The storyline that is tense and twisty mixed with the steamy relationship between Rook and Rebel, there is everything to love.

I do believe that Rook could be my next best book boyfriend.

This book includes many tropes I really enjoy - found family, biker romance, (mutual) stalking and it's a romcom with a morally grey MMC.

However, the writing felt a little flat and repetitive to me. I also struggled with the FMC, she came across as childish and somewhat insufferable at times.

I was excited to finally read this one since it had been on my wishlist for a while and I truly appreciate the chance to do so, but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

3.5
I enjoyed the setting and most of the banter and back & forth between the main characters Regan & Rook, which I can’t deny, was funny at times.

The main characters were flat, especially Regan. While I overall enjoyed reading from her perspective, her character was difficult to like. She was naive, partially because she grew up mostly sheltered from everyone and everything, but also just generally naive, making me almost roll my eyes.

The relationship between Regan & Rook started off fun. I would even go that far to describe the first time they met as a meet-cute in their own way.
Their relationship and the development of it was a bit chaotic. It was cute at times and other times it made me kind of question the whole dynamic they had going on, even though there wasn’t anything particularly wrong. It seemed like Regan couldn’t decide for herself if she wanted Rook, while her actions were very clear.
The dialogues were repetitive, the monologues at times as well.
When I look at the dialogues, while other people were just *saying* things, Regan more often than not was *yelling*. For some reason this really stood out to me..

I did however like almost all of the side characters! Evie was a gem and I would love for her to have her own book!

“Rook & Rebel” reminded me in a lot of ways of Katee Robert’s “Neon Gods”, which I didn’t enjoy as much as this one. If you liked “Neon Gods” and want maybe a different setting, something quick and a bit more fun, this book might be it.

Overall, I did enjoy the book. I will definitely read the next book of the series.

While I would like to make it known I did actually enjoy reading this, I found the dialogue sometimes it got really repetitive and the story didn't seem as developed as it could have been. I felt like I always knew what was going to happen and there was no real build up to things and they just happened very quickly on the page. I liked all the characters and I would love to read about more of the group in the future.

Unfortunately I really didn’t get on with this book, even though it had many tropes I enjoyed. I liked the humour, and the murder, and the flirting. However I found the writing very clunky and it felt unedited. I kept having to reread sentences of dialogue to understand what the characters were saying. The dialogue especially didn’t feel natural for them. It was repetitive in a way that usually wouldn’t occur in a conversation.

I really couldn’t come to terms with the writing style, but I did enjoy the romance, action, and unravelling the mystery.

If you’re into dark romcoms with tattooed bikers, revenge plots, and over-the-top drama, Rook & Rebel will hit the spot. The story follows Regan Fletcher, a sheltered girl trapped in her father’s mansion, and Rook Emberson, a brooding biker with a vendetta. What starts as a calculated game of revenge quickly turns into obsession, romantic tension, and chaotic chemistry.

The book is absolutely absurd at times, and the characters make some of the dumbest decisions imaginable but that’s also part of the fun. Rook’s “revenge” plan mostly boils down to stalking Regan, and Regan herself is indecisive, often ignoring glaring red flags. Their romance is intense but chaotic, flipping between danger and swoon worthy moments, with spice sprinkled throughout.

Despite its flaws, plot holes, inconsistent motivations, and a romance that sometimes feels more confusing than steamy, the story is entertaining, funny, and addictive. The side characters and the gritty, tattooed biker vibe add a lot of charm, and there are moments that genuinely keep you hooked.

If you want a middle-ground read that is dark enough to thrill but light enough to enjoy, this is it. Just don’t overthink the logic, buckle up, enjoy the banter, and embrace the chaos.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes:
* Stalker romcom
* Biker romance
* Morally gray MMC
* Bad boy x good girl
* Found family
* Revenge
* Opposites attract

Thank you to NetGalley, Kate Crew, and Headline Eternal for this eARC!

Right from the first chapter I was hooked! Such a surprising and intriguing way to meet someone like Rook and Regan do, and it’s almost immediate that he can’t help but give in to his attraction and curiosity about her. I loved that progression throughout the book, especially how he is enthralled by her sweet but spicy nature-which also sums up their relationship nicely 🌶️🧁

This dark romance is definitely violent, but the real tension and conflict comes from an even darker place, which makes their relationship raft with secrets and illusion on Rook’s part. I understand how his motivation to be with her changes, so that ending hits especially hard. It could have been cliche, but the author did well on how that was all revealed and the emotional force it had on them both. I really enjoyed this and I hope we get more soon because I also liked the others in Rook’s group! 😉

This book was such an unexpected ride! I went in thinking it would be a dark romance, but it ended up being way funnier than I anticipated 😂

I received an eARC for the republish, and I’m happy I got the chance to read it. The story had a quirky, twisted charm that kept me entertained from start to finish. It could just be that I’m more used to the really intense dark romances where certain things aren’t up for debate, so maybe that’s why parts of it didn’t fully click for me 😂

That said, it’s a fun and engaging read overall. 🤌

dark, banter, circling of two characters both after what they need but soon needing each other. one thinks the other will bring the revenge h seeks. the other well, she just seeks freedom and a chance to just be.
we've got a male from the wrong side of the tracks who sets his sights on the daughter of the man that took everything from him. his father wronged him and his family. revenge will be found by taking what is most precious to him, his daughter. he was stopping at nothing or no one to get his revenge.
he wasn't counting on her. her.
she put everything aside for her father. to be his legacy. to make him proud. to take on the business.
i loved being immersed into this world and watching our pair against each other but wishing they would just come on already lol.
Rook was a joy to read about. such a brilliant character. an all out swoon was had for us all. and the moments he started falling, started caring were perfection. and then vice versa. they both GAVE each other so much. their interactions, the highs, the giggles, the banter but also the deeper stuff.
their interactions were pure wit and fun. spicy, out to get each other, battle grounds but never really.very quickly there was only one way i needed this to end for them both.
the plot mixed with character watching was just right for me in this book.i delved in to both and the balance made me care more and more for both how this would end up and the characters themselves within that.
and i mean future books! hellooooo. my main worry now is if i will be lucky enough to get the others. as surely they are going to be insane.
the comrade in this book was great. side characters of the best kind.
the growth,depth was a surprise for me too.
an all round fab read.

Dnf at 32% Unfortunately this wasn't for me. I feel like the plot was choppy and had time jumps that didn't make much sense. The writing itself felt very juvenile and although I really liked Rook the Fmc felt insufferable.

Thank you to Headline & NetGalley for providing me with the ARC of Rook & Rebel 😊

This book had the same vibes as Lights Out and I absolutely LOVE that! 😍

This had me sat giggling away while sat on the couch next to my partner and getting funny looks from him. The banter is top notch, the romance is dark and spicy 🌶️🌶️

The plot is well thought out but predictable. I also felt like the big reveal at the end was a bit anticlimactic.

I was already recommending this to friends after the first couple of chapters and will still be recommending it going forward!
