3.5 stars. Audiobook was well down and nicely paced. Unreliable narrators can be cliched but this was done well. Lots of twists and turns but did feel like it could’ve been a bit shorter.

I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked incredibly quickly and couldn't stop listening (I had an audio copy) to it. From the very first chapter to the very last I was hooked.
In this story, a woman finds herself in a hospital bed recovering from an accident that she doesn't remember. Her husband, John, refuses to tell her what happened or answer any questions about anything. He keeps telling her that he is looking out for her best interests but when she receives a note that tells her to trust no one she becomes suspicious of every person around her. Her husband knows more than he's letting on and is hiding things from her but is he doing it for her best interests or for his?
This book is fantastic. It's well written and entertaining. The author has a knack of keeping you drawn into the story so that you just can't wait to find out how it all ends. You'll be guessing at every turn!
I did get the chance to hear the audio copy of the book and I would say that if you are an audio listener this is a good one to listen to. On the other hand, if you don't enjoy audio this would also make a killer book to read.

Jessie wakes from a year long comma she’s disorientated and struggling to tell reality from that of her disturbing dreams. When she receives an anonymous note telling her to trust no one her reality is up ended . Stuck in a hospital bed in her grandmothers house, cut off from the outside world and with no information about her accident or her children being shared with her, Jessie becomes paranoid and suspects everyone. With a huge inheritance at stake can she work out who is the enemy before it becomes too late.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the book, it had me on the edge of my seat, completely buying into the paranoia. The twist was ok but I did see it coming a mile off. A good pay off at the end.

COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! The twists and turns were absolutely perfect. Some vibes of Verity, The Housemaid and The Perfect Marriage all wrapped up into one. The author did an amazing job, I can't recommend this book enough. The narrators fit the characters to the letter. Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. Thank you D.K. Hood and Bookouture Audio.

I’ve been hooked from the start, and struggled to put the audiobook away, to the point I’ve ended up listening at 2.0 speed, just so I can know how it ends!
Jessie wakes up after an accident, with little memory of what happened. Assisted by a nurse Dolly and house staff Maria, she struggles to find out what exactly happened and where are her kids. As things unfold, and memories come back, Jessie must decide what’s the truth and who to trust.
I really enjoyed the book, though I felt bamboozled by the ending - it came out of nowhere, but not in a fun way, more of an “oh…” way. Despite the ending, the book is a great read, with narrator doing a great job of telling the story. Can definitely recommend it to everyone who’s interested in two timelines and loves a good thrill!
Thank you to the NetGalley and publisher for an Advanced Reader Copy.

As it says, this book certainly is a psychological thriller! Right from the get go you have a woman (Jessie) waking up out of a medically induced coma of twelve months after a car crash that she has no memory of, though she does have some nightmares that seem to relate to it. And that definitely makes her an unreliable narrator. Enter the mind games, gaslighting, and untrustworthy characters that may or may not be after the money Jess has inherited from her grandmother. It was a wild ride and I did not trust anyone, not even Jessie as she has her own secrets. The note given to her to not trust anyone is fair warning to the reader too!
So, yeah, lots of twists, unlikeable characters like John, her husband who might be having an affair, to Dolly who tends to put Jessie to sleep every time she tries to to find out the truth about her accident. Very questionable medical practices too! And beware that Jessie does make some very stupid decisions that may cost her everything. It has a nice ending though, which is a relief after the roller coaster of a thriller. I did have to take a bit of a break partway though because the gaslighting was really getting to me. But overall it is a good thriller.
The narrator, Kate Handford, did a good job of bringing Jessie and her wild story to life. It sounded like a book that Alex would write which I am sure would become a best seller. :)

I listened to the audio version of this book and could not stop listening! I read it one fell swoop, even when my ear buds died toward the end and I had to switch to my ear plugs. It's that compulsively readable. If you enjoy twisty psychological thrillers this book is for you. Highly recommended. 4.5 stars.

This book kept me guessing. I thought i had it figured out, but i was wrong. This was my first D. K Hood book, and it was fantastic. I was enthralled from the first page. It has twists and turns. It isn't told linear, which isn't for everyone. However, it's not confusing to get through. Kate Handford narrates the audiobook. She is wonderful.

I loved The Liar I Married by D.K Hood.
This is the first time I'd heard of the author so have no experience with their writing, but this is also the first time I can say I was able to listen to a audio book from beginning to end!!
Would recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5/5
This book had my nerves on edge from the very first chapter.
As a mother, I immediately connected with Jessie’s panic and confusion—waking up with amnesia, told few details about what’s happened, and unable to trust anything or anyone. It’s the kind of psychological nightmare that feels eerily real and terrifying.
I was suspicious of nearly everyone. At one point, I didn’t know who the real threat was—or if Jessie even had children at all, despite how deeply I had empathized with her as a mom. That uncertainty added such depth to the suspense. You may be surprised yourself…
The pacing is tight, the twists are well-executed, and Jessie’s gradual shift from helpless to headstrong was satisfying to watch unfold. The character development, especially Jessie’s, was strong—and just when I thought I had the plot figured out, D.K. Hood pulled the rug out from under me again.
Also… I hated the “other woman” in this story—until I didn’t. (No spoilers, but whew… I had my feels.)
If you enjoy twisty domestic thrillers with unreliable memory, tangled loyalties, and the creeping fear of being gaslit by those closest to you, this one is worth the listen. I couldn’t stop until I knew everything.
Audiobook note: The narration pulled me in emotionally and made the tension feel even more real. Highly recommend this format. Rec’d Audiobook ARC on NetGalley. Look forward to this release!

The synopsis of this book really pulled me in, and I was excited to start. While I did enjoy it, the story didn’t fully live up to what I expected. Some twists were predictable, while others caught me off guard, but overall, I liked it well enough.
The dialogue at the start felt a little repetitive, which slowed things down for me, but once it moved past that, the story got better. The pacing was solid, the plot kept me interested, and the narrator did a fantastic job.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC.

I was able to guess the ending well before the reveal, but that did not keep me from enjoying the story. I love how D.K. Hood uses misdirection to throw suspicion around. I look forward to reading more of D.K. Hood's work in the future.
Kate Handford did a great job narrating this story and I will look for more of Kate's work.

This book was good!
I was stuck on it since the first chapter and it just kept getting better even to the point where I was questioning the FMC too. It was intriguing and suspenseful to the last page. I thought the husband was gonna be the bag guy after all!
Overall I enjoyed the audio very much it was very well narrated.
This was received as an arc and I am grateful for the opportunity.

The Liar I Married is a psychological thriller about a mother and wife who was in a car accident, trying to remember what happened prior to the accident. This book had me second guessing and gave a twist that I for sure did not see coming.

This is my first book by D.K. Hood and I will be looking into more books. I did the audiobook and enjoyed the pace of the book – just enough twists to keep you engaged, make you think and realize you don’t have it all figured out.
Following a car wreck, Jessie has woken up from a coma and everyone around her refuses to tell her what happened. After she receives a note saying, “don’t trust anyone,” she begins to wonder what really happened the night of the accident and if she can trust anyone around her.
With the dual timelines, the plot was easy to follow and quick to hook you. I recommend The Liar I Married to anyone looking for a twisty, thriller with a good twist.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing a copy.

Liar, liar pants on fire! The big question throughout this twisted tale is who is lying. With multiple unreliable narrators, gaslighting, and memory loss; this story kept me engaged. There were many twists and turns that were unpredictable and surprising. The narration brought the characters to life adding intensity and intrigue. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

thank you NetGalley & Bookouture Audio for this ARC! i would say this book was just okay. I did not see the twist coming whatsoever, but some of the story just fell a little short for me. a good read nonetheless!

Book Review: ★★★★☆ 4.7/5
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Verdict: 100% Recommend
I devoured this book in just two days—a true testament to its gripping plot and masterful storytelling. From the very first page, the author pulls you into a world where trust is a luxury and every character hides a secret. The suspense is electric, and you’re constantly second-guessing everyone’s motives.
What makes this psychological thriller stand out is the way the author manipulates your emotions. One chapter, you’ll hate a character with every fiber of your being, and the next, you’re rooting for them—shocked by how your perspective has shifted. The character development is so rich and nuanced, it’s impossible not to get emotionally invested.
You're kept in a constant state of curiosity: Who’s the real villain? Who’s telling the truth? Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the plot throws another curveball.
This book isn’t just a thrilling ride—it’s a psychological puzzle that keeps you thinking long after you’ve turned the last page. Would recommend 100% to anyone who loves twists, tension, and unforgettable characters.

D.K. Hood really knows how to weave a thriller full of secrets, lies, and unexpected twists. The Liar I Married dives deep into the dark side of relationships, showing how the person closest to you can sometimes be the most dangerous.
The pacing was fast and kept me turning the pages, and just when I thought I had figured everything out, the story threw me a curveball. The main female character had me so frustrated at times—I honestly wanted to shake her! But that’s what made the story even more gripping, because her choices kept raising the stakes.
This wasn’t just a thriller; it felt like a psychological game of cat and mouse, with emotions and fear wrapped tightly into every chapter. If you like domestic thrillers with shocking reveals, you’ll definitely want to pick this one up.

The Liar I Married
by D.K. Hood
Narrated by Kate Handford
The Liar I Married was one of those books that I kept on figuring was going to really surprise me. It was a fine listen, seriously, nothing wrong with it, except it didn't WOW me at all. It was a pleasant story, and I enjoyed listening, but at the end of the stroy, there wasn't any part of it where I felt excited by twists or anything that was happening. I don't want to give away spoilers, but I felt like the major twist wasn't that exciting and there was nothing that really made my pulse quicken while listening. Also, some of the choices on what to keep from Jessie after she woke up were utterly ridiculous.
Jessie wakes up and discovers that she's been in a coma for over a year. Everything is different. Her husband seems cold and distant, her kids...do they even exist? She is under medical care, but nobody wants to tell her anything. Will she find out what really happened to her? As her memory starts to slowly come back, she discovers the real culprits behind her accident and care thereafter.
The narration was just fine. It was the story itself that just didn't blow me away. I would read another one by DK Hood though, as it was a good story idea. I just want a little more next time. Thanks so much to NetGalley, the author, and Bookouture Audio for the cance to listen to and review this ARC.
