This story is a bit like a cross between Sliding Doors and One Day. We follow Anna down two different life paths - one where she agrees to husband Edward's wish to have a baby (despite her own reservations) and one where she doesn't. This decision causes both possible paths to diverge greatly, and we revisit each strand on the same day every year - Anna and Edward's wedding anniversary.
I like Laura Pearson's books a lot, but this didn't quite hit the mark for me. Although I didn't get confused between the two timelines, I couldn't really get invested in either of them, and some of the characters - David, Ben - didn't really come alive. The once a year "snapshot" doesn't allow much opportunity for development of characters or plot strands, and while it worked well in One Day, I'm not sure it did here. There's a running thread about a psychic's prediction that Anna will marry a man whose name begins with J, and that this is what both strands are leading up to, but again I couldn't get too invested.
Although this wasn't my favourite of Laura Pearson's books, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review, and I'll definitely look out for whatever she does next.

anna goes on dates with both James and Edward and finds it hard to choose between them. she visits a fortune teller who tells her, her one great loves name starts with a J. who will anna choose.

Sliding doors. Two lives, one to stay married and have children and the other to say no to children and leave the marriage.
The mainstay is the friendship and how that decision impacts.
How one decision has a massive difference. Fascinating and interesting.
I really enjoyed this book and made me think how one choice that is big has massive ripples going forward

At first I wasn't sure about this book, then, I realised what was going on and ended up loving this unique story. Very thought provoking. It makes you realise that if you could go back a change one thing in your life what would the consequences be. I loved this brilliant book and was sorry to finish it. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher's for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

“An enchanting ‘what‑if’ romance: Anna’s choice between two paths—with Jamie or Edward—unfolds in parallel lives brimming with hope, heartbreak, and fate. Pearson’s vivid characters, emotional stakes, and gentle exploration of identity and love linger long after the last page.”

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book , I enjoyed this book and story but I personally prefers the authors previous books to this one

This is the first novel by Laura Pearson I have read and I pretty much read it in 2 sittings.
Anna and Nia, young friends, visit a psychic who makes predictions about the future.
A few years later, Anna marries Edward and he raises the question of children. Anna isn't sure what she wants and whether Edward is the man for her. What decision will she make?
Here, the story splits into two as each year, on the anniversary of the wedding, we see where Anna's choice has led her
Thoroughly enjoyable, sliding doors style book.

I actually don't read romance or womens fiction very much.
I might even go so far as to say, I only make an exception for this author.
I'll always pick up her books.
This is such a lovely book.
The relationship between the two best friends was quite heartwarming.
But there wasn't a single person in this book I didn't like.
On both timelines, as the characters all wove in and out of each others lives, I was sympathetic to every single one of them, where they were at, what they were thinking.
It's a rare thing to feel.
Lots of little moments that made me a teeny bit emotional.
Just lovely.

I was really intrigued by the cover of this book, that’s why I requested it. This book shows two perspectives for the same person like if her life had gone one way vs another. I did think it was pretty good, but it did not keep my attention at some places. The chapters are divided by yes and no and then as years go on. You see how things changed and how even the different lives are connected. I did like how Anna has a strong friendship with her best friend. But I never liked the man she started off with. I’m not sure which life I ended up liking better for her. Both had their pros and cons. Still, this was interesting concept and I’d love to read more from this author.
Thank you to the publisher for the review copy.

This was a engaging storyline and had that element that I was looking for from the description, it uses the overall story to the genres advantage. I was hooked from the first page and thought the characters were so well done and was glad they had that feel that I was expecting. The characters were written well and was a heartbreaking concept. Laura Pearson wrote this so well and was glad I was able to read this.
