Such a captivating read. i love books like this. those saga type books that follow someone over a time period. you come to know them, come to care about them. those books that do nothing better then take a deep look into a family, person and their dynamics.
this book allows you a multi generation look into a family. we can see themes, we can see details, we can see the inner working of a family. a family that goes through stuff, like many families do. some you can relate to, some just make you think a bit harder into. some moments really touch you and some hit you a bit harder. its deep. i love a bit of deep, lol. this book shows life. and life can be lifeing us sometimes. and we get to see how things impact from families and how that follows through. sometimes we can do different, sometimes we find ourselves mirroring those before us. what makes someone able to heal and not? and what do healing look like in nature verses nurture or being plonked into the world we currently are?
i really did feel like we could get to know these characters through the timeline.
its a definite character driven book and when done well these can be up there with the best. and so hard to do!
i really enjoyed Kelly and her writing style was hitting every mark for me and felt so strong.
a great book. i love coming across a great book.

Bright Eggs is an intriguing, multi-generational saga centering family relations. While Georgie has complexity as a queer lead in the story, I would not advertise this book's target market as LGBTQIA+. The book offers a bleak perspective on family, simultaneously undermining and upholding normative roles of women, family structures, love and intimacy. I love inter-generational stories for the networks of characters and their influences, but perhaps being a little more thorough with a smaller selection of characters might allow for more a poignant narrative. Creighton's prose is unique and clearly carefully crafted, but perhaps a little overworked. Not every sentence needs to be interesting; I found myself bogged down in metaphor about even the simplest description, which both pulled me out of the story and took away opportunities to more concretely flesh out scenes and interior emotions of the characters.

I devoured "Bright Eggs" in under 24 hours. Absolutely captivating!

Creighton has crafted something special: a generational story that feels both expansive and intimate. While the timeline took a few pages to click, once I found the rhythm, it became one of my favorite aspects. It's rare to find such a sweeping narrative in a short read that still makes every character feel fully realized and authentic.

The writing is disturbingly real in the best way. Those moments that hit close to home, Creighton nails them with precision and heart. This will resonate with readers from all walks of life.

My only critique? The ending took a few extra victory laps. Several moments felt like natural conclusions, but the story continued on. While I appreciated the character development, the pacing felt slightly stretched in the final chapters.

Despite that, "Bright Eggs" is a remarkable achievement that lingers long after you close it. Highly recommended for anyone who loves character-driven narratives that mirror the beautiful messiness of real life.

This was everything that I was looking for and enjoyed about the genre and how the characters were everything that I was wanting. It had a strong plot and was engaged from the first page and it didn't let go until the end of the book. Kelly Creighton has a strong writing style and glad it was so well done and enjoyed the overall feel of this.

This was set in Belfast two hours from Me so I was excited to read it .
I couldn't really get into it though.
It was pretty sad but an interesting read a bit like a family saga .
It was like the line from the song the living years " every generation blames the one before " .

I felt sorry for Georgie,s dad and of course Georgie herself.

I definitely do think the author is a good writer, just parts were slow .
