I loved this! Molly is a Phrogger (which I’d never heard of) , and is caught up in a crazy week at the Reilly’s home!

I was literally on the edge of my seat wondering if Molly would get caught in Jack and Helena’s home! Jack is a bit of a lady’s man and his life takes a turn when one of his mistresses is found murdered……. Molly is on the case and determined to get to the bottom of it

Fabulous read - thank you for allowing me to review.

Gripping. Love the blog use. Definitely did not expect it to go the way it did and the twists. Definitely worth a reread when in the mood for a thriller.

A great suspense thriller! Great characters and well written. As I was reading it, I questioned myself if I would rent my attic out to a stranger. Must read!

First, thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC!

I usually have an eye on the pub date when deciding in which order I do read my ARC. But I really grew to be a fan of Gemma Rogers, so I dove into it right away.

I have heard of the concept of phrogging before, mostly in crime or thriller shows. It is scary to imagine that there is someone living in yiour home with you, and you have no idea. I also could not imagine ever doing such a thing myself. Like, sure, some people are desperate.... and most do not want to harm any of the home-owners, either, but still...

Molly, our FMC here, has a stable job, but wants to save money to fullfill her dream. So, she is into couch surfing and, well... phrogging. Currently, the place she has picked belongs to the Reilly family. And all is fine and dandy - as much as it can be in a situation like this - until someone does vanish. And, not anyone really. It is the mistress of Jack Reilly. And Molly, the curious journalist she is, does start digging. Convinced, alibi or not, that Jack has to do something with it....

I will always recommend Gemma Roger's books! This one was a gem again, and I loved the rather unusual living situation of our FMC. Very much recommended!

Title: The Stranger at No. 6
Author: Gemma Rogers
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Publication Date: September 8, 2025

I have read several books by this author and have never been disappointed. This book is no exception. As with her other books, this was also a quick and easy read for me.

The main character, Molly, is a struggling writer who wants to live the "nomad" lifestyle. She abhors "settling down" and having to pay rent. This is where the phrogging comes into play. I have never heard of this concept and thought for sure it was a made-up thing. Well, after some quick research, I found out that it's something people actually do. CRAZY!!!

Because of the phrogging, the storyline was unique and interesting. The main character was likable, but as with most psychological thrillers, I thought that Molly made some pretty dumb/questionable decisions. I was 95% certain that I had the book all figured out. Boy, oh boy, was I ever wrong!

Add this to your TBR pile for when you need a book that has an easy storyline.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

I'd never heard of Phrogging before, and after reading this novel I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Seems too much like hard work and very stressful. But hey, Molly, a journalist for the local paper, is an old hand but even she gets more than she bargained for at No 6.
This was a great read, very fast paced. My heart was pounding each time Molly came close to being discovered. Her amateur sleuthing was dodgy but at the same time admirable.
My first Gemma Rogers novel but I'll definitely look out for more to read

Thrillingly intense. It shows a different side of stalking and I was chilled by the idea of someone living in the house unknown. I felt like screaming out loud at the characters at times but I managed to control myself by continuing to read too find out what would happen next.

This is the second time I’ve read a book where the protagonist, Phrogg, lives in a house unnoticed by the people living there. They sleep somewhere hidden, shower, and eat their food without being seen. It’s an intriguing concept that I couldn’t imagine actually doing.

The stranger at No. 6 is definitely an interesting read. You won’t see the twist coming. Gemma writes captivating stories that keep you reading. Some of the characters are there just because they’re needed for the story, even though you don’t know much about them. If you’re looking for an entertaining beach read, this is one you might want to try.

I certainly felt my heart pounding whilst reading this one! A sign of a really good thriller where you actually can’t sit still and wonder what will happen next. The writing is so easy to read and I’ve found Gemma has a way of you believing in the characters. I really liked the FMC, Molly despite her choices and I found myself concerned for her wellbeing living in that house! Definitely strap in for this one!

Molly Hudson is a reporter for the local paper in Crawley. She is also homeless and she participates in phrogging. Phrogging is when you go and live in someone's house without their knowledge and evading discovery. Molly found the perfect house. It was number 6 Church Road belonging to the Reillys. A massive 3 floor house with the 3rd floor still unoccupied. She moved in, sleeping in the loft and using their utilities. She can hear all what is going on and is surprised when one afternoon whilst she was home, Jack the husband came home with a woman that was not his wife for an afternoon of passion. Molly intrigued, watches the woman leave. Molly is shocked even more on learning the woman went missing that same evening. Molly's journalistic instincts kick in and she finds Jack the husband is not all what he seems. I loved this book, full of tension and twists.

Molly is into phrogging, which means she hides in people's houses without them knowing and lives there. She despises sleeping on her friend's sofa in their shared flat. Molly picks a big, newly renovated house owned by Jack, Helena, and their young son Nathan. As a reporter eager to advance her career, Molly starts uncovering the family's secrets. Then, a young woman is murdered. It's such a gripping, twisty, and addictive read!

Molly is a junior journalist, who is saving up to buy a campervan. To fulfill this dream, she has stayed on friends sofas, and also been phrogging. This was a term new to me, I discovered it meant living in a house already occupied by the rightful owners without being discovered by them. I was rather sceptical that this could be accomplished, but Molly moves into number 6 and is undiscovered. The family have recently moved in, and there are rooms as yet unused by them which Molly takes advantage of.
Molly showers, and washes her clothes by day, when the owners are out at work, but one lunchtime things change. The husband comes home unexpectedly, with a female companion who he calls Grace, who is not his wife, and Molly just has time to return to the unused rooms before she is seen. She hears the couple having sex, realises the husband is having an affair, but that really is none of her business, although she feels sorry for his wife. Then she hears that Grace has gone missing, and starts to wonder about this man. As time goes on, Molly discovers secrets about him, and the journalist side of her nature makes her want to find out more about him.
This is a story full of suspense, I kept turning the pages to see what happened next, I couldn't put it down. The plot twisted and turned, right up until the final surprise at the end.
Thank you for my advance copy.

A fascinating insight into the world of phrogging….Molly, a journalist and blogger finds herself court-side at the disappearance and murder of a local woman. The obvious suspect has his charms but it seems all too obvious. A brilliant and well plotted thriller that explores a topic I wasn’t previously familiar with (but I’ll be checking my attic & shed from now on!!!). Recommended. Thanks to the author and publisher for an Arc in exchange for an honest review

I enjoyed how the writing was accessible, fast-paced, and tension-driven. The short chapters pushed the pace forward and kept the suspense taut. I loved this book so much I almost didn't want it to end. The tensions were real and numerous. I was entertained the whole time. This book had me gripped, it was full of psychological suspense, introduced a concept I’d not heard of before. I particularly liked how it was all brought to a satisfactory conclusion for a great ending.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley.

A suspenseful, binge-worthy read with just the right amount of paranoia and neighborly secrets. The Stranger at No. 6 was an engaging, twisty domestic thriller that kept me second-guessing every character. The creeping sense of unease built steadily, making it a tense and bingeable read. Gemma Rogers’ writing style is fast-paced and suspenseful, with a straightforward approach that immediately pulls me in. Her conversational tone and short chapters make her books easy to devour, and I’m always drawn to her relatable female leads and the domestic noir themes she does so well.

Book Synopsis:
In The Stranger at No. 6, a hidden intruder, Molly, also an investigative reporter, secretly lived in the Reilly family’s loft, helping herself to their food, Wi-Fi, and heat. When a local woman disappeared, suspicion fell on Jack Reilly, but the unseen resident began to uncover unsettling secrets that suggested that something far darker was going on inside No. 6 Church Road.

There were quite a few aspects that I favored in this book. The most intriguing was the ‘phrogging’ premise. I have never read a book with this concept. It felt fresh and original. I also liked how the story was told in a linear format with a single point of view, Molly, because it kept me tethered to her experience—heightening the sense of paranoia. I also enjoyed how the writing was accessible, fast-paced, and tension-driven. The short chapters pushed the pace forward and kept the suspense taut. Rogers implemented strong use of red herrings and minor twists that maintained my engagement even though not all were fully unpredictable. Rogers drew upon strong characterization. Molly was a well-drawn character—sympathetic but flawed, emotionally raw, and increasingly anxious. Whereas the stranger (new neighbor) was effectively menacing without being overdone. Rogers left room for suspicion to build naturally. Even more, the secondary characters (husband, friends, other neighbors) were sometimes thinly drawn but served their purpose in the narrative’s tension.

Overall, I love Gemma Roger’s’ writing style and found The Stranger at No 6 to be an entertaining and all consuming read!

Thank you Net Galley and Boldwood Books for this captivating ARC in exchange for my honest review.
