Molly, a reporter, is saving her money so phroggs in the meantime (stays at other people's houses but they don't know it). She ends up in the middle of some secrets and dangerous situations. Lots of suspense in this book. Really enjoyed it!

Review of ‘The Stranger at No. 6’ by Gemma Rogers, due to be published on 8 September 2025 by Boldwood Books.
Molly, a young local news reporter, is saving up to buy a camper van, and in between sofa surfing has taken up phrogging. Her latest home to live in, belongs to Helena, Jack and Nathan Reilly.
Molly soon finds that things are not as they seem with the family, with Jack coming home at lunchtime during the week with his mistress. When she goes missing, Molly makes it her mission to find out what has happened to her, and what, if anything, Jack’s involvement could be.
This book had me gripped, it was full of psychological suspense, introduced a concept I’d not heard of before and plenty of evidence to point you, as the reader, towards a likely conclusion. With a final twist that blew all that out the water, it made for a fantastic read. Recommended.

The Stranger at No 6 by Gemma Rogers, published by Boldwood Books, is a full length, stand alone. A pulspounding, literally unputdownable thriller of its finest.
A read in one sitting, cover to cover story that gives all the feels.
The Reilly family moved into their dream house. But soon Jack Reilly is accused of being involved in the vanishing of a woman. Secrets are revealed, secrets that should stay hidden.
A fantastic 5 stars read.

This story is based around ‘phrogging’, an interesting concept which I’d never heard of before. It’s when someone lives in other people’s homes but stays hidden so that the owner/s has no idea of their presence. The phrogger uses their hot water, eats their food, uses their electricity, etc, so they’re living there totally free of charge.
The Reilly family recently moved into a newly renovated three-storey house. There are only three of them: Jack, Helena, and their young son, Nathan. They don’t use the top floor so it’s ready and waiting for another occupant.
Molly is a journalist for the local newspaper and a keen advocate of phrogging. She has been watching this property carefully, and worked out how to enter and exit, and where she’ll sleep. Molly enters the property via the back garden and sets herself up in the uninhabited top floor bedroom conversion, sleeping in the fitted wardrobes. She can hear a lot from her vantage point, and has a window view of people coming and going, which is when she discovers that Jack seems to be having an affair with a much younger woman called Grace. Unfortunately, Grace then disappears and, although Jack has an alibi, Molly can’t help thinking that he’s involved in some way.
Another gripping read from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

"The Stranger at No. 6" by Gemma Rogers was a book that made you want to keep reading so you could find out what happened.
Molly is looking for a new place to stay. She tries a new trend that she has heard about. While living in her new place she gets to know a family that may not be what they seem. When the husband is caught having an affair things go from bad to worse. Molly is investigating a missing person for the newspaper that she works at. When things seem off about the missing person Molly starts to investigate the husband.
This book keeps you guessing throughout the whole book. Highly recommend.

I read this book over the space of an afternoon. The story was fast paced and the concept of phrogging brought a different element to the story.

Never ever would have seen that coming. I love the concept of the newspaper reporter and online blog trying to get answers. This was such a great book. The characters were spot on. Loved everything about this book
Thanks to the author the publisher and Netgalley for a early release of this book.

Whoa - what a wild concept! I always appreciate a book that introduces new concepts and ideas. Because of this, I was hooked right from the beginning!
Molly is a journalist hoping to rise through the ranks at work, and on the side, she writes a blog about her phrogging lifestyle. (Not squatting—phrogging. The difference? The homes aren’t abandoned. Phroggers sneakily tip-toe alongside the residents, eating their food, drinking their water, using their electricity and Wi-Fi, even their washing machines, all without being discovered.) As a homeowner - this sounds terrifying to me!
Molly picks her next house and begins her newest phrogging adventure—but quickly gets way more than she bargained for. She witnesses the husband having an affair with Grace, a woman around her own age who works at the same school as him. Gross? Yes. But it’s not until Grace goes missing that things start to spiral.
Molly suddenly questions everything. Who is this man she’s been watching? What kind of danger might she be in? And what does she do with what she knows? Confessing to the police, her boss, or even her best friend means revealing how she found out—and that’s not exactly legal.
But when Grace’s body is discovered, things go from bad to worse… and Molly has some big decisions to make.
Does she come clean? Shut down her blog? Reveal the truth to protect others—even if it means exposing herself?
This book was super suspenseful and easily a FIVE STAR read for me. There were so many edge-of-your-seat moments where Molly nearly got caught, and I felt that pulse-pounding anxiety like I was right there with her. When a thriller gets under your skin like that? I’m all in!
I’ve read all of Gemma Rogers’ books and continue to be blown away by her storytelling. If you love jaw-dropping, twisty thrillers check out her catalogue of works and DEFINITELY check this one out!
📚 The Stranger at No. 6 releases September 8th, 2025.
Big thanks to NetGalley, Gemma Rogers, and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I’ll be counting down to the next thrill ride!

Five stars!!! This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The ending had my jaw on the floor!! Just when you think you know what happened…. You were wrong

Psychological suspense is my favorite genre. I thought I knew where the story was going but I was wrong. It has plenty of twists and turns and a killer ending. Looking forward to the next one.

I just love everything Gemma Rogers writes and this certainly didn't let me down.
Two decent sittings of worrying Molly was going to get caught, i was really kept on the edge of my seat.
I was a good way through before i had an inkling where the story was going.
A very different storyline to anything i have read for a while and i think this is her best so far.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Slow started but once I got into the story I was gripped! Many twists and turns that left me guessing and a dramatic ending, fantastic read

Are you familiar with the term ‘phrogging’?
Honestly, I had never heard of it before, but once it was explained, I realized that I had come across something similar in a book before — though it was used a bit differently than in this case.
I sincerely hope I never have to deal with something like that.
Just the thought gives me the creeps!
Luckily, I don’t think my circumstances would make me a likely target for that kind of visitor. I’m pretty sure there are easier options out there. Phew! ;)
I definitely don’t approve of Molly’s actions — after all, she steals, and it's clearly out of self-interest.
But I also can’t deny that, in this particular case, it had some positive consequences and even helped solve a crime.
Still, I felt a lot of sympathy for Molly. She’s such a kind and likable character, and I kept hoping she wouldn’t get caught.
The story is fascinating and had me hooked the entire time.
That’s why I ended up reading the whole book in a single day — I just couldn’t put it down.
Sometimes, people act in the spur of the moment out of panic, unable to think clearly, and end up digging themselves into an even deeper hole.
One suspect on my list felt a bit too obvious to be true, but I still couldn’t rule them out.
Another person kept catching my attention as well, and the two suspects were constantly battling in my head for the top spot.
But the final twist? That never would have crossed my mind — not even in my wildest dreams.
I really enjoyed seeing how Molly’s life evolved throughout the story.
In her mind, the end probably justified the means, and while I might disagree with that, I still found this to be a very compelling read and truly enjoyed it.
I also really connected with Molly — the author made her so likable that I honestly couldn’t help it. :)
Top score for this book — a full 5 stars.
Thank you!

This was everything that I was looking for in a locked-room thriller novel, it had that overall feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the use of the sea. The overall feel was everything that I was looking for and enjoyed the way the characters were used during this storyline. I was invested in what was happening with the characters and thought the overall concept oft them in their environment. It had that suspenseful atmosphere that I was looking for and glad I read this. Gemma Rogers has a strong writing style and was glad I was able to read this.

Thank you Netgalley, Gemma Rogers and Boldwood Books for the eArc of The Stranger at No.6
Having now read a lot of Gemma Rogers book, I was thrilled to get this arc. We have our MFC, Molly or Mol, is a budding junior journalist working for Crawley's local paper. What people don't know is Molly Phrogs ( the means of living in peoples houses without their knowledge) Having settled into a house without detection, Molly starts uncovering a mystery and a possible murder when a local women goes missing. The catch? Molly suspects the Man of the house is the killer.
I devoured this book pretty much in one sitting! As always Gemma balances a good mix of character development within the unfolding plot line. I really bonded with Molly. Trying to make her way in life and saving money, hence doing this technically illegal living style. It also makes for a very claustrophobic read as a lot of what's unfolding, is from a built in wardrobe in this house. The plot line is medium paced and just gathers pace as things start to unfold leading Molly right in the middle of a murder. There was some very close calls of her being caught in the house and they make for some very tense scenes! This makes a page turner for sure. There are some clever foreshadowing within the narrative and does not take anything away from the finale. I could not put this book down.
The characters are well built with the Reilly's, which are the family Molly has chosen and also the side characters. All felt really, likeable... and not so The Stranger at No.6 is a immersive and an addictive read..
5 stars

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Stranger at No. 6 by Gemma Rogers due to be published September 8,2025.
The Reillys had no idea someone was sleeping in their empty loft. It seemed perfect until someone vanished. With all Molly had witnessed, should she go to the police or risk getting caught?
I admit I had never heard the term phrogging before (staying in someone’s house without them knowing). Talk about a rush – always wondering if you’ll get caught, being perfectly silent, making sure everything is turned off, etc. Molly almost gets caught several times but manages to escape unnoticed. What a thriller – kept me on the edge of my seat every time she entered the house! Thinking there could be a sequel, too!

If you're looking for a psychological thriller that grips you from the very first page, this one is it.
The story follows Molly, a struggling journalist who’s found a disturbing solution to her rent problem—phrogging—the act of secretly living inside someone else's home while they remain completely unaware. Her latest hidden home is a beautifully renovated house on Church Road, occupied by the Reilly family. It seems like the perfect setup. Until everything unravels.
One afternoon, Molly witnesses something she was never meant to see. Jack Reilly, the seemingly devoted husband, is having an affair. When the mistress goes missing, Molly becomes convinced he knows more than he lets on. But how do you expose the truth when your own presence is illegal?
This novel is packed with tension, secrets, and a mounting sense of dread that builds to a shocking finale. Molly is a flawed but deeply compelling character—you’ll root for her, even as she walks a morally grey line.
The writing is sharp, the pacing relentless, and the concept of phrogging? Both disturbing and fascinating. I flew through this book and didn’t want it to end. An addictive read with a genuinely fresh twist on the domestic thriller.
Highly recommend to fans of suspense and morally complex protagonists. Gemma Rogers has outdone herself.

A gripping book that keeps you turning the pages until the shocking conclusion. Brilliant characters and plot. A great read!

I love Gemma Rogers books and was thrilled to read this new one. I loved this book so much that I had a hard time putting it down. I was in a constant state of anxiety worrying that Molly, the main character, would be caught living unseen in someone’s home. Twists, secrets and lies abound in this roller coaster of a book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers.

Amazing! What an addictive and wild ride The Stranger at No. 6 was. I loved this book so much I almost didn't want it to end! The tensions were real and numerous. Phrogging is a new subject matter to me, and man, did I eat this one up. Gemma Rogers raised the bar with this addictive thriller that kept me rapidly flipping the pages.
Molly is an aspiring young journalist trying to make a name for herself in the world of journalism. Though she is making a salary at her job, she is saving to buy a camper van so she doesn't want to waste money paying rent. Enter phrogging. Molly has discovered she can live undetected among families and do it for free. She has done this successfully a few times, so she has high hopes as her newest phrogging adventure brings her to the home of a young couple and their young son. Unfortunately, this one has some major bumps in the road. Namely, Jack, the husband, is having an affair right under the wife, Helena's nose. When the mistress goes missing, Molly knows she has to investigate further. With all the evidence pointing in the same direction, she has to figure out a way to alert the police to it without disclosing how she gained access to it.
Unable to catch my breath until the very end, this roller-coaster ride did not disappoint. Twists, secrets, lies, and deception were repeatedly thrown out at a frantic pace, leaving my head spinning. The story is told from Molly's perspective, and the chapters are short and flow seamlessly. This was a brilliant story. I loved the character of Molly, as she had a good heart and evoked sympathy at all the right times. I absolutely can not wait for Gemma's next thriller and highly recommend this book.
