The ending is so twisty. The first twist is pretty predictable but after that, you see nothing else coming at you. This was a great fast paced thriller, that doesn't take a lot of brain power. It would be a good cleaner book. I would recommend this book if you are into Frida McFadden. It has a similar style and the twists are ones that you never seen coming.

Review:
This was an intriguing premise to me and while I think it's fairly popular, I haven't read a mystery about somebody who has amnesia in a while. Unfortunately, while I wanted to finish to know what happened that night, I was not invested in Susan and the other characters in this book. I thought things were unrealistic at times. Knowing where a book is going and figuring things out doesn't impact my enjoyment or rating, but I think it's important to note nothing really took me by surprise. I liked it enough and am glad I read it and will try more from this author. Thanks to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC of this book

Synopsis:
A woman wakes up after 10 years in a coma with no memory of how she got there. She finds out that she is an infamous woman who is accused of the murder of her millionaire fiance. With the help of her psychiatrist, they try to recover her memories.

I ended up reading this in one sitting, once I started I found i couldn't put it down and needed to know what happens next. I love the author using both past and present media references within the story however some felt out of place and bothered me. The same thing with the mention of a nokia being used in 2015 and the fmc not knowing what smart phone is, when in 2015 smart phones were massive and I dont remember a person who didn't have one.

I loved the past and present timelines, I personally love a book that includes this, especially a thriller, however they could have been chartered off with dates to title which past we were in, at some point of the book there were 3 timelines, 2 past and the present which made for a bit of a confusing moment in the book.

Apart from the author briefly mentioning the fmc was a bigger girl when she was younger, and in tje present in the mirror she describes her face as shrunken, I dont have any idea what the fmc actually looked like, a full description would of been nice.

This story could of gone from I enjoyed it and it was a great story to this story was amazing, if it wasn't for so many little issues I kept picking up throughout the book, the ones I reviewed were just the main ones I found, however it is definitely a story worth reading

The Woman in Room 9 got under my skin in the best way. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, even when I wasn’t reading.

Susan Gummer wakes up after a decade in a coma to find out the world thinks she’s a murderer. She has no memory of the night Jamie Mawdsley died, but the verdict is already out there for everyone to hear. Podcasts, documentaries, and social media have turned her into a villain. Trapped in a remote hospital with the unsettling Dr. Max Quane, she starts digging for the truth, even though part of her isn’t sure she wants to find it.

Tim Adler’s writing pulled me straight into Susan’s fractured mind. The tension is constant, the atmosphere heavy enough to make you feel trapped right along with her. Every time a piece of her memory came back, I held my breath. I kept wondering, what if the truth is something you’d rather never remember?

If you like thrillers that make your heart race while giving you that delicious, creeping sense of dread, this one’s for you.

Thanks to Tim Adler, Incubator Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

The Woman in Room 9 is a gripping psychological thriller that expertly blends memory loss, media frenzy, and the creeping dread of not knowing who you truly are.

Tim Adler drops us into the fractured mind of Susan Gummer, who wakes from a ten-year coma to find herself at the center of a murder mystery she can’t remember. The world outside has already cast its verdict—true crime podcasts, documentaries, and social media have painted her as the killer of Jamie Mawdsley, heir to a healthcare empire. But inside the remote hospital, under the care of the enigmatic Dr. Max Quane, Susan begins a desperate search for the truth.

Adler’s storytelling is taut and atmospheric, with a pace that keeps you turning pages late into the night. The psychological tension is palpable, and the question of Susan’s guilt or innocence is deliciously murky. As memories begin to surface, the novel takes on a haunting quality—what if the truth is worse than the accusation?

Perfect for fans of Ruth Ware and SJ Watson, this is a thriller that doesn’t just entertain—it unsettles. A chilling exploration of identity, justice, and the stories we choose to believe.

My thanks to Tim Adler, the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

A terrific thriller with plenty of twists and characters who will keep you guessing as to their motives and trustworthiness. The last couple of chapters are really cleverly done so it is hard to review without spoilers, but well worth the wait! I liked how the author built characters with flaws and with problems, making the story itself all the more believable.

Woman in coma wakes up to find she is a murdered but can't remember the incident - a classic beginning for a cozy thriller.

This was well paced, with great characters. I enjoyed the sessions in which Susan starts regaining her memories, and enjoyed reading about the backstory to how and why she ended up both accused of murder and in a coma. It was a good thriller without being too over the top. There were a good number of twists, some expected, some a surprise.

A solid thriller.

Although totally unbelievable, this tale of vengeance is a page turner..

When Susan wakes up after being in a coma for a decade, she has complete amnesia about the events surrounding her being practically run over by a taxi. As the family of the woman Susan allegedly pushed off a diving board into an empty swimming pool, leaving her a paraplegic unfolds, an evil so dark and all pervading emerges, until this twisted tale finishes with evil vanquished.

Waking up in a coma to discover that you are suspected of murder. What a winning combination this was and it created the perfect physcological thriller. The atmosphere is suspenseful and I had no idea where it was leading until it was revealed. The characters are strong and the plot is definitely sturdy with suprises.

It was a strong psychological element that I wanted and was engaged with the suspenseful atmosphere that I was hoping for. Tim Adler wrote this well and was glad I got to read this. I thought the use of being in a coma and then waking up as a suspect in the murder worked well together. The characters were everything that I wanted in this and had that secrets that I was expecting.

I am always leery of genre novels, especially when they involve suspense. But Tim Adler allayed my fears immediately - his book is remarkable for the way in which it at once fulfills the expectation of the mystery-loving reader, and makes them fresh, exciting and, most incredibly, original. It's a cliche to say so, especially when you're reading a book on your computer, but I couldn't put it down. 'The Woman in Room 9' is a roaring success - highly recommended to one and all.

a new twist on the person in the coma thriller idea and one that i was really interested to see where Tim would go with it.
Susan has been in a coma for years. when she wakes she doesn't remember anything not even her own self.the police have her down as their murder suspect. but as things start to come back it seems there is far more scarier things at play than being asleep.
what is the blood she can remember?
who was she running from?
the tension is slowly built for this one. you are on a guessing game along with Susan as she clues things together you try to too.
i was taken down dead ends and it kept me guessing on certainly on my "what the?" toes.
the twists and turns as things stat to unravel had me hooked until the end.
Tim is a new author for me so id like to see how his style continues.

Having read the much feted Tony Parsons rave review for this book, I have to admit I was dying to get started… It did not disappoint! I must admit I am baffled by any of the vaguely lukewarm reviews on this site. Edge of the seat, insightful and authentic character portrayals, beautifully written and utterly gripping until the very end, Tim Adler has managed to pull off a psychological tour de force of a novel. One word of warning though, if you have an early start in the morning do not begin this the night before, I started reading last night and was unable to put this down. Matchsticks for my eyes today, but worth it! Bravo!

I thought this was a decent book! A little slow burn for me but over all I did have a fun time reading it. There were a couple of things that I didn't see coming.

3.5 STARS

The Woman in Room 9 had a solid mystery, one that kept me guessing to the very end. The pacing was a little slow for my tastes, but the tension was enough that I kept going--reading the entire book in one sitting! Susan was, at times, a little hard to root for but I desperately wanted to know the truth behind 'that night'.

Although the final reveal wasn't what I expected, I didn't hate it. The ending was a thought-provoking one, for sure!

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the eARC.
The book started out well: Susan has been in a coma for 10 years and when she finally wakes up, doesn't remember who she is and what happened to her. The police wants her for murder, but her psychiatrist wants to help her regain her memory. Slowly things start coming back to her and it terrifies her.
I really enjoyed the read until about 3/4 of it and then it started becoming a tad unrealistic and uneven, but overall it was good entertainment.
Rounded up to 3.5 stars.

Susan wakes up from a coma after 10 years. She has amensia and is tended by Nurse Bunny and Doctor Max. Her memories before the accident is running with blood on her arms, but why and running from whom? This is a slow burn mystery. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy.
