I Want What You Have is another utterly gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller by Hayley Smith. Right from the prologue I was completely invested in this story and I didn’t want to stop reading until the very end. It’s a twisty read full of secrets and lies. The back story was jaw dropping and I enjoyed reading the POV’s of the two main characters Gemma and Addie. I loved the short chapters and that ending was pure perfection.

This thriller is a wild ride from start to finish. The storyline is packed with tension and psychological mind games that keep you guessing. At its core, it’s a story about obsession and revenge.

The setup feels innocent enough: a vacation giveaway. But things quickly spiral into something much darker. The host isn’t just being generous—she has a plan, and Gemma is caught in the middle of it.

Hayley builds suspense with every chapter, and just when you think you’ve figured it out… boom. The twist hits hard and changes everything.

If you love thrillers that mess with your head and keep you turning pages late into the night, then make sure to add this one to your TBR list!

I Want What You Have was a fast, clever thriller that I tore through in just a day. The pacing was quick, the short chapters kept me hooked, and the twists had my jaw on the floor more than once. Even though most of the characters were not exactly likable, I still found myself rooting for them (or at least needing to know what happened to them), which is not something I usually experience when reading. I thought the author did a great job balancing enough detail to set the scene without overdoing it, and the multiple POVs kept the tension high. Gemma’s intensity, Addie’s scheming, and the shifting friendships really pulled me in, and I felt especially bad for Matt, he definitely didn’t deserve the mess he ended up in. If you like fast-paced psychological thrillers with messy relationships, obsession, and a little revenge, this one is worth picking up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

It took me a little while to get into I Want What You Have by Haley Smith, but once the story picked up, I found myself turning the pages quickly. I enjoyed the use of dual/multiple POVs and the way the narrative jumped back in time—it added layers to the story that kept me engaged.

That said, I found myself a bit frustrated with the FMC at times, and while the book had moments that pulled me in, overall it landed in the “just okay” category for me.

What really stood out, though, was the twist at the end. It definitely made me pause and think about friendships—who you can trust, and who truly has your back.

🔹 My take: 4/5

🔸Gemma & Sophy, in their early thirties are friends since their school days. Gemma is obsessed with a social media influencer Addie and wins a giveaway arranged by her. The prize is two couples can spend a week at a lush fertility retreat. Gemma convinces Sophy & her hubby to join for a luxurious stay assisted with nutritional food, body cleansing & healing treatments. Addie joins them at the resort and is shocked to see that Gemma is imitating her in all aspects - looks, hair, clothes. Addie wants Gemma to remember something they did in past but Gemma is trying equally hard to forget that detail about her life. When Addie & Gemma come face to face with the reality, both are left stunned to the core.

💖 Wows - Prologue begins with a banger and then the book keeps readers glued with its highs and lows throughout. I finished reading this in 2 sittings over 2 days. Hayley has done a superb job bcoz it’s not easy to juggle multiple POVs with multiple timelines and still not confuse the readers. The descriptions of spa treatments, the resort waterfall, the access road to the retreat, the food are so evocative. The characters feel realistic rather than fictional and hence believable. Twists are scattered at multiple points making it an interesting read from beginning to end. I could predict few but a couple did make my eyes open wide.

💔 Ows - The parts which felt off to me are bits and pieces throughout the story - like guests unable to access devices, minimal number of guests at the retreat etc. There were red flags visible at multiple points but people chose to ignore leisurely. But this could be more of my observation as I was looking at it more as real rather than a fictional plot. The latter half got a tad bit boring but that again could be bcoz I felt a lot of action happened in the first half.

💫 Looking forward to read Hayley’s past publications since this one was a quick and delightful read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I Want What You Have by Hayley Smith is a wonderfully written suspense novel.

It isn’t nice to play games with other people’s lives but it sure is fun to read about it when they do!
Gemma seemed obsessed and quite a bit intense.
Sophy and Tom were good friends to Gemma but what happens when that loyalty is tested?
I couldn’t fathom what Addie had planned but she was truly a snake!
I felt so bad for Matt because he didn’t deserve anything that happened to him, he really was a good guy.
Reuben was a douche and deserved to be with the partner he chose.
Friendships can be tricky but revenge is best served sooner rather than later.

The book was pretty crazy! I remained glued to my kindle the entire time. It's really fast paced, with terrific suspense that kept me wondering where the story was headed. I love it when a book can suck me in, and I felt as if I was at the resort alongside the characters. The twists had me in complete awe, and don't get me started on the revenge component. A wonderful thriller that had me up past my bedtime.

Gemma wins a luxury stay at a fertility resort with her husband after entering a competition hosted by her favourite influencer Addie. Gemma invites her best friend and her best friend’s husband along to the stay, excited to hopefully fall pregnant while relaxing. Only she isn’t aware that every detail of the trip has been pre planned and this isn’t the first time she’s met Addie.

I have read a couple of this author’s previous books and really enjoyed them so I was excited to read this one. I really liked the premise of this, focused around a fertility retreat, as this was fresh and intriguing. Because of this and the excellent writing style, I was gripped straight away and enjoyed watching the story unfold.

The characters were interesting, even though many were quite unlikeable, and I liked that there were different point of views to tell the story. I found the remote setting helped create an eerie atmosphere and build the suspense. The story had lots of twists and turns and overall ended up being a fun, solid psychological thriller. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

This one’s a deliciously twisted psychological thriller that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. Think luxury resort meets revenge fantasy with black lilies, buried secrets, and a narrator who’s playing a long game.

Gemma is obsessed with Addie, a social media influencer she idolizes. When Addie runs a contest for a trip to a fertility resort, Gemma wins and invites her new husband Matt and her best friend and husband. What Gemma doesn't realize is that Addie specially selected Gemma as the winner because they have history together.

This was a fast-paced thriller with a lot of twists. None of the characters were very likable, but I was thoroughly invested in the drama. Fertility issues, marriage problems, secrets and lies. You never know what can come back to bite you later in life. Beware of your past self! A fun, entertaining psychological thriller!

This one had my attention from the get go and I think that was down to the social media aspect. Told from several points of view - Addie, Gemma and Sophy. It’s definitely a read that will keep you guessing until the last word. I found the characters really unlikable along with Gemma being extremely irritating but I think that’s the point. It’s a fast paced read that keeps your attention as it’s a twisty one. Enjoyed it and would recommend.

This story blew me away! Gripping, twisty and with a jaw dropping backstory.

Gemma is the lucky winner of an instagram competition hosted by her favourite influencer, Addie. The prize is a weeks stay for 4 at a luxury fertility retreat, also a chance to meet Addie during the stay. With hopes for an imminent pregnancy, Gemma and new husband Matt, attend along with Gemma's best friend and husband. During the stay a number of things happen that trigger Gemma as they appear related to her biggest secret. As the secret is revealed in the backstory, Gemma's world is thrown into chaos.

Such a good read, I just can't recommend it highly enough.

This book drew me in from the start with the engaging writing style and compelling storyline. I loved uncovering the secrets each character carried; it added depth and intrigue throughout the book. While the ending was a little predictable, there was a twist that I didn’t see coming and liked reading about. A great read overall!

From the very first page, I Want What You Have had me leaning in with that delicious mix of dread and curiosity. The premise is simple but so sinister: a luxury getaway, a smiling hostess, and a past that refuses to stay buried. What follows is a week of tension so thick you could slice it with the resort’s cocktail knife.

This is the kind of psychological thriller I love, glamorous on the surface, but with shadows lurking behind every champagne toast. I found myself devouring chapters because I had to know what the narrator’s connection to Gemma was, what secret she was hiding, and what exactly had been so carefully planned. The black lilies? The unexpected guest? Every detail was so unnerving, like a spider slowly spinning a web.

The brilliance of Hayley Smith’s writing is how she keeps you second-guessing everyone. Who’s really the predator here? Who’s the victim? Just when I thought I had the twist pinned down, she yanked the rug out from under me in the most chilling way.

This book is fast paced, addictive, and absolutely dripping with suspense. It’s about obsession, revenge, and the lengths people will go to protect (or destroy) the life they think they deserve. If you love psychological thrillers that make you feel like you’re on a runaway train with no brakes, this one’s for you.

Dark, twisted, and impossible to put down, I tore through it in a single sitting.

Reading the blurb, I knew I Want What You Have would be right up my street – and it did not disappoint.

The story centres around Gemma and her husband winning a competition through influencer Addie’s Instagram page, the prize being a getaway to a fertility retreat. Gemma brings along her best friend Sophy, but what should have been a dream trip quickly unravels their past, dragging a tragic high-school event back into the spotlight.

I really enjoyed the multiple POVs – Gemma and Sophy (best friends for 20 years) alongside Addie – and the dual timelines flashing between that significant high-school event and the present day retreat. Add in short, punchy chapters, and this was the kind of thriller that had me saying just one more chapter until I was at the end.

The book is packed with twists and turns – a few I predicted (hazards of being a seasoned thriller reader!) but plenty that kept me on my toes. What I loved most was how it blended dark secrets, fractured friendships and the glossy-but-fake world of social media into a fresh, addictive thriller.

This was my first Hayley Smith book – but it definitely won’t be my last. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

ARC Review
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to read this psychological thriller centred around Gemma and her favourite social media influencer, Addie. Gemma enters a competition on Addies page, not expecting to win but when she does, she invites her best friend Sophy along. With both husbands also includes, they arrive at a fertility retreat where the small details around the spa start to haunt Gemma and remind her of a tragic event included in their past. What did Gemma and Sophy do that they don’t want others to know? Will the truth come out? What will their spouses think if it does?

A real page turner! Well written from three different POVs but so easy to keep up with. Each chapter is short, not allowing for the chance to be distracted from the story. And I absolutely love the fact that the characters live in Sheffield, which is a stones throw away from where I live making the characters extremely relatable.

"I Want What You Have" by Hayley Smith is a suspenseful, fast-paced thriller centred around themes of jealousy, betrayal, and manipulation stemming from a tragic event that occurred 20 years ago. I love Hayley Smith, and so far, all her books have been incredibly satisfying for me!

The story follows Gemma, who is obsessed with Instagram influencer Addie. She is thrilled when she wins a week's getaway at a fertility retreat. She and her husband, Matt, attend the retreat with their best friends, Sofy and Tom. Soon, Addie and her husband arrive as well.

As the three couples settle in for what was meant to be a relaxing week, they instead find themselves embroiled in constant drama fueled by past secrets. Everyone is connected, and each person harbours secret motives and expectations.

The book is mainly told in the present, with some past flashbacks presented from multiple points of view, making it easy to follow. The short chapters allow you to breeze through the story like the wind.

If you never read book by Hayley Smith I advise you rund and grab one!
