A brilliantly fast paced thriller told from multiple pov. The story is just bursting with unsavoury characters doing terrible things to each other - not exactly ingredients for a relaxing retreat getaway!

This was an amazing thriller! I hate a love/hate relationship with both main characters and the twists and turns were out of control!! A must read for all thriller fans!!

This was a quick, fast-paced psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns to keep the pages moving. I appreciated that the story was told from several points of view, which added variety and helped keep the narrative flowing. The short length also made it an easy book to get through in just a couple of sittings.

That said, I struggled to connect with the characters—most of them felt unlikable, and the overall story didn’t bring much freshness to the genre. While the premise had potential, the execution left me wanting more depth and originality.

Still, if you enjoy quick reads with multiple narrators and don’t mind not rooting for the cast, this one could be worth a try. A solid read, though not a standout for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy of I Want What You Have. Nice cover, good plot, characters are complex. I felt horrible about the way Rueben left Gemma that was terrible and did even more damage to her. Each character had problems that they didn’t deal with whether it be bitterness, jealousy, codependency or just denying truth in themselves. I liked the book but to me it was sad overall. Very fast reading, thank you again.

This is the second book I’ve read by Hayley Smith and having enjoyed the first one, I knew this would be a good one and it didn’t disappoint! This turned out to be even better!!

This story centres around best friends Gemma and Sophy and the formers obsession with an online influencer Addie. Gemma wins a week away for 4 in a fertility retreat in North Wales from a completion giveaway on Addie’s Instagram page.

It is full of secrets and mystery around Addie’s connection to the two best friends and their partners.

The story is told from Gemma, Addie and Sophy’s point of view focusing on events from 20 years ago, before, during and after the retreat.

I found this a very easy read, that kept me gripped throughout. It kept me wanting to read one more chapter, I couldn’t put it down!

I guessed some of the twists but this didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the book. I would have liked a bit more from the ending, but still enjoyed it enough to give it a five star review!

I will definitely be reading more from this author as this book has definitely left me wanting to read more.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Talk about obsession gone wrong! Three couples. One luxe retreat called Luna Bliss. And Gemma, who is so wrapped up in influencer Addie’s curated life that she even cuts her hair to match, thinks this week will finally solve her deepest wish: having a baby. But this dreamy getaway is not all green juice and yoga mats. Old grudges, buried resentments, and secrets from the past bubble up fast, and suddenly paradise feels more like a trap.

This book is sharp, unsettling, and impossible to put down. The author layers tension so well that every chapter feels like a ticking time bomb. A clever, quick, addictive thriller that will keep you wide-eyed until the very last page.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. Every opinion here is my own, and my opinion is simple: read this.

I Want What You Have by Hayley Smith is a gripping and addictive thriller that had me hooked from the very first page. The tension builds perfectly as secrets unravel, and I loved how unpredictable the story was. The characters were compelling and the twists kept me turning the pages late into the night. I truly enjoyed this book and rated it five stars.

Gemma wins a trip for four to a mountainside resort that focuses on health and fertility. Gemma wants nothing more than to have a child with her new husband, Matt. But she also wanted nothing more than to have a child with her ex fiance, Rueben. It soon becomes clear that someone arranged for Gemma and her friend to win this trip. Gemma is a very obsessive person. Doesn't understand why everyone doesn't love her or thinks she latches on too hard. Secrets from her past come out, people end up dead; just who is trying to ger revenge? great book!

It is one of those books that transports you making you forget about real life and full of delightful characters that spring to life. I actually felt like I was there in the story with them ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The book revolves around three couples who attend a retreat, ‘Luna Bliss’ after the main character Gemma wins a week at this breathtaking venue. Gemma is obsessed with an influencer on social media named Addie, and she offers up the prize. Gemma is beyond excited that she will be attending, she is obsessed with Addie, purchasing everything she promotes and copying everything she does, even having her hair cut into the same style.

Gemma is in her second marriage and more than anything she wants a baby but is having fertility issues. This retreat promotes health and fertility, and Gemma believes that after the week is over, she will be pregnant with her own child.

But there are forces at work in the background that may prevent Gemma’s dreams coming true. You never know who is going to come back from your past who may harbour resentment, and you also never know what repercussions may arise from many years ago and the way you treat people in life.
The author did a great job of setting the plot for this book and it was a quick and clever fast read. If you like psychological thrillers that quickly grab your attention and hold it to until the last page you will love this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.

The setting of this book is unlike any other I have read. This author is incredibly creative!

First, thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC!

A woman planning revenge on another woman - for numerous reasons, usually - is surely a trope I have seen a lot as being a part of thriller books at this point. One might say, it is getting old at this point, but really, as long as I do feel entertained, I do not care. Not to mention the luxurious resort and the influencer trope. So yes, it is safe to say that I did feel entertained while reading this one.

We have short chapters - which I love - and different POV's - which I get better and better at liking - and the usual fast pace filled with a lot of twists! So, I personally would very much recommend you to get this book once it does publish! very well done!

This was a great book that I read in a couple of days.
Short chapters left me wanting more and a host of complex characters, none of whom were particularly nice kept me reading.
Really enjoyable and I’d definitely recommend

It was a slow start for me but once the story got going, I became much more gripped and intrigued by where the story was going.

What a page turner! I had a really hard time putting down this book, I needed to know what was going to happen! I really like how the author slowly let us in with the details. Every time I thought I had an idea of what was happening or had happened, I was thrown for a loop.

Reuben sucks - really disliked him. So other than Reuben, I found the characters to be marginally likable, I wanted to like Gemma but by the end I was frustrated with her choices. She was a wannabe mean girl and that feels somehow worse than just being a mean girl. Sofy ended up being my least favorite, because at least Gemma and Addie were exactly who they were - Sofy never really showed her true self, not even in the end when she should have. The flaws of the characters really built the story up, added that loved suspense of it all. I like how the book ended fairly open ended so that the reader can theorize what they think happened.

The influencer Gemma is absolutely obsessed with (we are talking same hair, same clothes etc) launches a competition to win a 2 couple stay at a fertility retreat, and Gemma wins. She’s absolutely thrilled to be able to do this with her new husband and her best friend and her husband.

This was a fast paced read, with mainly completely unlikable characters. I liked the setting and think that the characters needed a bit more depth but I found the deception and the themes about the past coming back to bite you quite well done.

A perfect choice for a quick read with quite obvious twists, but which has a good satisfying reveal.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishers for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review - I Want What You Have - By @hayleysmithwriter

Publication Date 2 September 2025

4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book description:
She wants to be me. But I want to take what’s hers.

I smile as I welcome Gemma and her husband to the exclusive resort. I picked Gemma, my biggest fan, to win a romantic holiday for two. But as we toast the start of a week of luxury, I notice we look exactly alike. It’s almost like she wants to be me…

I’ve planned every detail of their week. From the carefully placed black lilies around her luxury room to the ex who broke her heart turning up unannounced. Because I need to jog her memory, so she remembers who I really am. The girl whose life she destroyed and heart she smashed into a thousand pieces.

But soon, I’ll learn just how far Gemma will go to stop the truth about her past – and who she really is – from coming out. Because she wants something from me too…

And by the end of the week, one of us will be dead.

I mean what's not to reel you in with that description? This book had multiple POV's and a few jaw dropping twists.

Fast paced book that I read in a day as I couldn't wait to find out what had happened.

Short and easy to follow chapters.

Thank you @netgalley @bookouture and Hayley for giving me the opportunity to read and best of luck with publication day, this is sure to be a hit ❤️
