Such a wholesome book! Really enjoyed the themes of kindness and empathy, there should be more books out there like this.

The illustrations in this book were beautiful but we didn’t vibe with the actual writing. We appreciate the opportunity to have read it though!

The Book of Kindness is surprisingly one of the most eye opening books I've read recently. Suitable for both children and adults, it's a fluffy family and school read as well as an excellent reminder of a small concept so overlooked: Kindness. The author did a brilliant job of showcasing our friend Kindness (yes, the noun) to be so much more than what we perceive it to be. Through small poems of gift giving and family and even a seed, the enormity of kindness was thoroughly explored.

The illustrations only added to the effect, imposing with its creativity and colours. My only concern was that whilst the repetitive theme was necessary, it may bore children who read it and lose interest. Some stories in particular are slightly more complicated to understand and children would need assistance. Again, this feature also makes it family and classroom friendly as it encourages the book to be read together.

Overall, this book has received a 4 stars from myself, I would recommend it to my own class, as well as family. Thank you, Egor Klopenko and publishing team for this beautiful reminder and NetGalley, for this opportunity.

This book should be read by all children and adults. This book was filled with good reminders of how important small acts of kindness can change the world around you. The illustrations were a beautiful complement to the poems as well.

“Kindness spreads like magic!”

The Book of Kindness (Kindle Edition)
by Egor Klopenko
A poetic look at kindness the different types and how they are spread. Each poem does a different view and sets up the meaning of kindness has different ideals.

I loved this! This was a perfect first book of poetry for my elementary-aged kiddo to read. We went back and re-read our favorites. Thank you to Net Galley for this early copy to review.

This book is very good to read for kids. I remember in the book that kindness is everywhere and it can shared to everyone.

I think the absolute star of this book is the last two poems, What is Kindness. I would absolutely look at this with my grade 5 class and do a literary study of it. I found it so powerful to have different voices interpretation of kindness (may have all come from the author but regardless still powerful). It was also so powerful to highlight how one small act of kindness can have a ripple effect.

While I absolutely loved the graphics of this book, I was really disappointed at the lack of diversity in this book, not only in skin colour but also the representations of families and physical ability. The art style is stunning and found myself completely taken by the gorgeous illustration of the whale especially. Also, the message that an elephant is kind because it lets children ride around on it was shocking. Many elephants being used for riding for financial gain are abused, which I feel is well-known in this day and age, and therefore quite unsettling that would be approved in a current book. Also for a mother to call her husband odd? I was quite confused.

So while I enjoyed parts of this book .. it is not something that I would feel comfortable having in my classroom.

This book is soooo cute and phenomenal! The poetry was beautiful and well-written plus with the beautiful pictures just made it such a pretty book to go through. I love reading poetry because I wish that I was that talented. The one that was so cute was about the dog. But overall, this book was so cute. Definitely recommend!

This would be a good book for an SEL collection or for a school counselor’s resource library. It has little stories about what kindness is and examples of it in action.

Collection of poems for children translated into English. Beautiful illustrations!

This book feels a bit like a collection of folktales. Lots of big emotions and the poetry feels almost cautionary at times.

The verses don’t rhyme, but are written in prose—just something for the reader to be aware of, in case they are expecting something rhythmic.

The Book of Kindness by Egor Klopenko is a collections of poems and illustraions for children. I think parents would benefit from reading it together with their young children for a heartwarming experience for the entire family. Though one of the more obvious issues is the lack of diversity, I think it can be chalked up to the original country where it was published, and it didn't take away from the core morals conveyed. In particular, I loved the last poem What Is, as it explains kindness in terms of different professions.
Thank you to NetGalley and Egor Klopenko for providing this ARC!

This book is perfect for ages 5 and up. I think that’s when kids become aware of themselves and their actions. The messages were good and the artwork is stunning. The star of this book (pun intended) was the story The Star. I would definitely purchase this book for my nephews!
