Oh, this was an absolutely gorgeous book. It had me slightly tearing up! This book would be a brilliant thing to read to children who have been adopted, or read to a child by a step-parent, as a way of letting them know that they are very loved, and life wouldn't be the same without them.

Four Point Two Stars
Sweet story about a Heart that goes everywhere in search of more love. Where does Heart find it? Nice illustrations and simple short story of love, belonging and family, meant for older kids.

This book has lovely rhymes about looking for love high and low and being able to find it unexpectedly. The book was very colorful and fun to look at.

this was a cute book and shows the meaning of love. The author was an adoptive single mother, so it was talking about love coming from one person, such as a single parents. the illustration was cute too! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

My son loved the pictures that went with the story! We enjoyed reading this as a family due to family members working through the adoption process. It was a beautiful story about adoption and finding your family. The rhyming is playful and this book was able to hold his attention.

I received an advanced complimentary copy of this book from The Collective Book Studio via Netgalley. I was not required to leave a positive review.

When I saw this story on Netgalley and realized it was about adoption... I just had to read it. I mean, this story was just so precious and cute. I was definitely cheering for Heart to find a family to call his own, and I think you will be, too! The story was sweet and clean (though there was a picture of Heart trying meditation, which may be a note for Christian families)-- a great introduction to adoption and what it truly means.

The love that went into this book just made me smile. Such a sweet way to tell this story of belonging and family... even if you aren't born into it.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this very beautiful children’s book.
This book is about Heart, who is looking for love and is trying really hard to find it. Heart does activities (like baking and gardening) but doesn’t find love. Unexpectedly, Heart does find love.
This is a book about adoption, diverse families and how love can be found in a variety of ways. Beautiful book for all children to read.

Thank you to the publisher and author for this arc.

I read this along with my 7 yea old daughter. We both LOVED the artwork and how colorful the pages were. We enjoyed the short pages and how easy if a read this was.

this has stunning artwork and a rhythmically pleasant poem throughout but i was a little disappointed with the narrative that someone would be incomplete if they don't have a child. it's important to show your child how much you love them but i certainly don't want to teach my daughter that you have to be a mother to become a whole person.

it also heavily implies that the main character doesn't love their partner as they only find love when their child is born. i feel that's also a pretty bad message.

A Heartfelt Quest for Belonging

The Heart That Found You by Anna Schocket is a tender and enchanting picture book that beautifully explores the themes of adoption, family, and unconditional love. This Children's Fiction book, with its whimsical art by Carole Chevalier, embarks on a rhyming journey following "Heart" as it searches for love.
The book’s greatest strength lies in its profound and heartwarming message: you can find love in unexpected ways and at the perfect time. As mentioned, the story perfectly illustrates the idea that when love arrives, it fills a void and makes everything feel complete. The story shows how a family is made "whole" not by blood, but by a connection of hearts. This message is not only comforting for children in adoptive families but also a beautiful lesson for all readers about the power of intentional love.
The writing, filled with playful rhymes, makes this an emotionally resonant read. The whimsical and visually captivating art complements the story, bringing Heart’s journey to life with charm and warmth. The illustrations are truly a highlight, showing a red-colored "Heart" on a search, finding a yellow "Little Heart" that perfectly fits its empty space. The book visually celebrates the diverse and colorful forms of love and family that exist in the world, reminding us that every family is unique and complete in its own way.
Overall, The Heart That Found You is a truly special book. It's a gentle and hopeful tale that celebrates adoptive and other diverse families, and reminds us that love, when it finally arrives, brings with it a sense of belonging and the promise of a bright future. It's an essential addition to any children's library.

This wonderful book made my heart fill with joy! Such a warm and loving way to tell the tale of a diverse family, which these days, is the case in most families. Being the stepmpther to two young children in the past, this book would have been a wonderful addition to our home library. I will definitely recommend this book to my elementary school teacher friends because ie message in this book needs to be heard! Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC of this beautifully written and illustrated book!

This sweet rhyming picture book is an adorable story about adoption to share with any child in a nontraditional family. The main character is a cute, walking, talking heart who is searching for happiness and love. When it has the chance to welcome a baby heart into its life, it then has love and happiness. The big red heart is androgenous, and represents a single parent of either gender. I love the cute detail that it has a heart shaped hole in its chest. But once the child comes into its life, that spot shows a shining gold heart instead of a whole. The child made the heart complete. The story also includes that "another kind soul helped Hearts dream come true" We see the mother giving up the child. The story talks about choices that need to be made and that the other parent and Heart both want the child "to grow, to thrive and to be strong". this sweet book is a perfect conversation starter that lets a child know that it is loved no matter how it joined the family.

The Heart That Found You is such a magical story. I’ll admit without any hesitation that it made my eyes fill with tears as I walked with Heart throughout his journey to find love and then at last finding what his soul truly longed for when he and Mrs. Heart adopted a “little heart”. The illustrations, the rhyming verses…all of it comes together so beautifully. I would highly recommend this book about adoption to everyone, and I look forward to purchasing it for my library.
