this is a good book. The way it tells the story of the jobs people did to help get our soldiers away from France and the coast in the beginning of the war. You only normally hear about the little boats that got the lads of the beaches not what happened once they where back on English soil so well done on enlighten us on the next stage.
It must be so hard for the girls to keep going especially Catherine after her accident in book one
Im glad she got her present from joe and shes learning to use it.

set in 1940 during the war, a group of women want to do their part to help with the war. good story of friendship.

This is the story of love, loss & friendship. Not forgetting the strength of these amazing women working on the railways regardless of the battles going on in their own lives.
It’s the friendship that pulls Catherine, Maggie, Naomi, Lily and Violet through.

There is quite the mix of characters, my favourite was the Faradays who were so kind, always thinking of others.
Least favourite was Mr Franklin the domineering father, bully of the worst kind.
I found some of the background to the railways during war fascinating.
Even better, there’s another book in the pipeline.

A great look at the home front war during the early part of WWII and the civilian efforts to support the troops after the Dunkirk evacuation. I hope this series will continue throughout the war.
