With winter here in Australia, I’m always on the lookout for hearty soup and stew recipes, and this book is just perfect. The recipes are comforting, flavourful, and look easy enough to make on a weeknight. The Hungarian goulash in particular sounds amazing and a little different from the versions I’ve tried before, so I’m really eager to give it a go.

With cookbooks, I personally like a photo of each recipe, which unfortunately this book does not have, but the instructions are clear enough that it’s still very easy to follow. If you love warming, filling meals that are perfect for cold weather, this book is a great addition to the kitchen.

In my opinion, soups and stews are the perfect meal, no matter the season. I love a good vegetable soup in the summer, using the abundance of fresh produce that can be cheaply found and turned into an amazing meal. So, when I saw this cookbook, I couldn't get my hands on it fast enough. And it did not disappoint!

Page after page of great recipes. Some you will know and frequently make. Others will be new and inspire you to try something different.

My biggest complaint-there is not a photo for every recipe. I believe that the sign of a good cookbook, and one I will frequently reach for and keep on my shelf, must have photos to accompany every recipe.

The Encyclopedia of Soups and Stews provides around 300 recipes with a ton of variety and skill level. I would have really appreciated more photos in this cookbook because I'd have zero idea of what some of the recipes would/should look like, however.

Thanks to The Coastal Kitchen and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

A book you'll want to eat - with a spoon! Tasty recipes, some great photos of the dishes you can come up with (after some practice, we guess) plus a short history of soups serving as an introduction - what more could you possibly expect from "The Encyclopedia of Soups & Stews"?

With autumn knocking at our door, it is time for cozy season recipes. Soups are always on the menu when the leaves start to change and the weather turns cold. If you are stuck in a rut with the same recipies year after year, this book is bound to give you some new inspiration and ideas. Can't wait to take out my sweater and make up some of these.
