"It Always Rains on Wednesday" by R. Douglas Hackney is a thought-provoking novel that explores relationships, self-discovery, and the human spirit. Set in 1969, the story follows Monte Scott, a young vocational rehabilitation counselor, as he navigates a residential school for the blind. I liked this book for its nuanced portrayal of characters, revealing their complexities and growth. Hackney's writing is engaging, balancing humor and profundity. The story is compelling, encouraging reflection on societal norms and personal connections. Overall, it's a great read that resonates long after finishing. I highly recommend it for its unique perspective and character-driven narrative.

The characters had that feel that I wanted and was engaged with what was happening with them. R. Douglas Hackney has a strong writing style and had that element that I wanted. This was a strong sequel in the It Always Rains on Wednesday series, it had that element that I was looking for and was hooked from the first page. I hope there is more in this series and from R. Douglas Hackney.
