I am on page 10 of this book, and I am DNF'ing it. Sadly.

There is one main reason that I cannot carry on reading this book. There are almost no visual descriptions of the characters, places, or things. I have no descriptions of how the characters may look like (physical features, what they are wearing etc) how the place where they are looks/feels like (weather, is it cold, is it dark, what is surrounding them - bookstores, homes etc). On page 10 there is a mention of a bridge and a body of water, but why not speak about that more? I'm quite visual and I feel like I'm reading a story but there is no illustration that comes to mind.

I do recognize that I'm only on page 10, and perhaps this builds further on in the book, but from my experience in reading novels, this is done rather early on. I would expect as soon as the character is introduced, to have read some details as to what they at least look like.

This is book two in The Highland Cookery School Series and can be read as a standalone as I have done. I love a book that combines romance and cooking. Jodie is not having the best of luck recently, everything seems to be going wrong so when she gets mistaken for her ex girlfriend she goes along with it. A new job but she has to pretend she is her ex, can't be that hard right? Jodie does not really realise what the job entails but she might as well try it out. Can she find her happiness? I liked how simple but courageous the story line was, I was really rooting for Jodie though I don't think I would of been as brave as her to up sticks and start a new life. It was a nice read to escape with.

Cooking Up A Christmas Storm by Amelia Berry is a heartwarming and festive read full of charm, romance, and holiday magic. I loved Jodie’s journey of self-discovery as she rebuilt her life and found unexpected love in the Scottish Highlands. The setting, the cookery school, and the cozy Christmas atmosphere made it a delightful story from start to finish. I truly enjoyed it and gave it five stars.

This was such a cute and cosy festive read. I loved the Scottish place setting in the book and the baking story line. The story was easy to follow and had a great cast of characters. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author.

Amelia Berry does a fantastic job in writing this sequel to the Highland Cookery School series. I was engaged with what was going on this universe and how the characters worked overall in this story. I enjoyed this as a concept in the genre and enjoyed how the characters were used in this type of book. 'm excited to see where Amelia Berry goes from here, as this and the first book worked well overall.

A really lovely story about two people who in very different ways and for very different reasons find themselves feeling unable to be themselves. Jodie and Pav are great characters and Low bridge is a terrific small village setting. This is best read in order but this third installment does read fine alone.

another wonderful book with an author who knows how to hug me via her books. the setting was just stunning. i always think when people are setting their books in Scotland a whole different feeling comes through it. when done well that is as you have to be able to capture the scenery of the place. and boy does Amelia shine with that one. from the Highland scenes to that actual cooking location itself it was just like i could feel, smell and almost taste it all. i mean who doesn't love a cooking school and the mention of lots of food scenes? thats a romance in itself!
the cast of characters in this book feel like you could just make a home with, quirky, fun, often kind and such a lovely community. at first i thought we are in for a disaster here. she could just play Gemma forever for goodness sake. so then when she started getting fully involved, maybe even settle i was genuine gets anxious about how this would, might go wrong. like no!
the romance was sweet. and felt true with all those this is him vibes.
this book had all the cosy, warming, give me a hug in a book feels to it. from the moments i read the first page i was smiling.the wit and humour elements to it were spot on and really lit up the book.
i want to go and be involved in this cookery school. do they need a pot washer?
Amelia has done it again with her heartwarming story telling. i feel truly lucky to get to read her books and feel just so much better from doing so.

What a wonderful, sweet novel! What I really loved was that I was able to get into the book right away. The book started off quickly, just like I like. The scenes were so beautifully written and I could imagine being there. I really liked all of the characters except maybe Gemma. She just seemed a bit pretentious, which is fine! Gemma was a side character although her name was used a lot. I personally wouldn’t have gone looking for her though. The romance was sweet and overall the plot was woven together quite well. I love a good Christmas book and this definitely delivered. Now I need to go back and the author’s other book! I’ll be looking for more books as well!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC.
