This was a strong sequel in the Midnight Rush Romance series, it had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed how it improved on the previous entry. I enjoyed the way Jenny Proctor writes a strong story and thought the character development worked in this story and had that romance concept that I wanted. The characters were everything that I was looking for and was invested in what was going on and was hooked from the first page.

I would be excited if this is the start of a series about the different band members- let's have a Freddie/Ivy match first!
That's a quote from my review of Once Upon A Boyband. So glad this book came first! Will Jace or Leo be next... hmmm? I feel like single dad Jace needs some love. Will it be with Carina? Or will it be Leo and Claire? Looking forward to either.
Jenny Proctor writes cozy, closed-door romance novels that are easily devoured in one sitting. This one did not disappoint. Ivy was a tour de force in 6 it was nice to see where that strength came from. As a therapist, I found the way Ivy dealt with grief, by micromanaging her life was so realistic. She found a way to fool herself that she was living a big life while keeping it small and safe.
It was so sweet and sad that Freddie had a real-life list of things to do in OUAB, and here, the fact that he felt so disconnected was explored well. He was so well adjusted about his family differences, and it showed that he was more real and mature than he gave himself credit for.
This was a slow burn, friends to lovers, boss, only onw tour bus bed, fake dating romance. But the tropes were done well and it was supwr cute. It is exactly what you want from this book. So fun for the beach or fighting the blues now that summer is over. 4.25 stars. Thanks to Net Galley and Jenny Proctor Creative for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

One More Made Up Love Song by Jenny Proctor is the second book in the Midnight Rush Romance series but can be read as a standalone. Rockstar romance plus fake dating. Yes please! Clean romance but still swoony, I totally enjoyed reading this. I also liked the side stories of overcoming grief, trauma and family challenges. Lovely!

This was such a fab, comforting read for me. The second in the Midnight Rush series, One More Made Up Love Song is the follow up to last year's Once Upon a Boyband, and follows Adam/Deke's erstwhile bandmate Freddie and his assistant, Ivy, both of whom we met in the first book. There are cameos from Adam and Laney and the other guys, which was great - but this would also work fine as a standalone if you've not (yet) read book 1.
Freddie and Ivy have that 'married couple' vibe, having worked together, toured together and even lived together for over 5 years. But they're strictly friends - or, more correctly, boss/employee. Ivy promised Freddie she would never fall in love with him; it's part of why she got the job, and she's determined to stay professional and keep that promise. Even if she's accidentally broken it, Freddie never has to know. But when circumstances throw the pair into a fake relationship (to save Ivy's sister and Freddie's reputation), everything starts to change as Freddie wakes up to Ivy as someone more than his Girl Friday. Even so, the pair have to navigate their own feelings and insecurities until they feel brave enough to admit their feelings - to themselves, and to each other.
As in the previous book, this is both a love letter to pop music and boybands, and a thoughtful, funny and heartwarming story with surprising depth. Both Ivy and Freddie are nursing some baggage that is preventing them from admitting their feelings - Ivy needing to control as much of her life a possible after a tragic accident when she was younger; Freddie yearning for a sense of having found his place, his wildly successful career not having fully given him the purpose he's been looking for. This is a low/no spice and fairly low stakes story, but it doesn't feel at all lacking; instead, we really get to dwell inside Ivy's and Freddie's heads and it's all the more fulfilling to see them be brave and reach for their HEA.
I can't wait to see where Proctor goes with her next book in the series and which band member we'll get. I was fully invested in this world after the first book, and One More Made Up Love Song has cemented my enjoyment of, and commitment to the Midnight Rush saga.

Having read 'Once Upon a Boyband', the first book in this series, I jumped at the chance to read this one, and it did not disappoint. I finished it in two days (probably more like 24 hours) and it kept me so engaged.
Ivy has been the assistant to pop superstar Freddie Ridgefield for five years and has been in love with him for nearly all that time, despite not being a fangirl. When she decides that it's time to put some distance between them and try to move on, things happen to force them together into a fake relationship. It is torture in the best and worst way, but then she catches Freddie looking at her in a different way.
I'm not usually a fan of the she falls first trope or her pining, but Freddie was such a sweetheart to Ivy and she wasn't debilitated by her unrequited love. She got stuff done, she made steps to change her situation. I loved seeing the way Freddie slowly fell for her, or had his eyes opened to the potential of them together.
I think Jenny Proctor likes giving her MMCs cute animals to hold! In this book it was a baby donkey!
Tropes:
*friends to lovers
*she falls first
*workplace romance
*celebrity romance
*rockstar MMC
*assistant FMC
*fake dating
*found family
Content warning: grief over loss of sister to drunk-driving accident
Romance level: 3 (kisses/makeouts only)
Thank you to Jenny Proctor, NetGalley and Victory Editing for the copy of the book. I received a complimentary copy, and all opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Clean romance between a rockstar and his personal assistant. Yes, sign me up. I was immediately drawn into the book from the first chapter and that promising start rolled into a good read. In this book you'll find beautiful moments of romance, funny situations, and also discussion of deep topics including overcoming trauma of losing a sibling. This book is definitely more than a light and fluffy rom com with its focus on these challenges and personal growth. I thought it addressed them well and wasn't overwhelmed by it. I am in a no sad books era and this one did not depress me at all. The romance is way to good for that! The author does a fantastic job of pulling you into this life of a rockstar's assistant and the rockstar's point of view dealing with relationships when growing up in the limelight. I really loved the clean romance take in this story.
I read one Jenny Proctor novel previously titled Petals and Plot Twists in The Serendipity series she did with several other authors. I enjoyed it but didn't know where to start with the rest of her books. One More Made Up Love Song was a fantastic place to start even if it's #2 in the series. I didn't feel like I missed much from book one, although I am curious about reading that one too,.
Rating: 3.75 ⭐ rounded up
Spice: 1/5 🌶️ Totally clean, kissing only,
Content Warnings: Some discussions of alcohol and drug abuse not detailed, sibling loss
Recommend: Yes! A fun read.
NetGalley: I received this book as an ARC on Netgalley to read in exchange for my honest review. I'm glad I did!

As my review of One Upon a Boyband also stated, be still my One Direction loving heart. One More Made Up Love Song was a great follow up to book one! I spent my formative teen years as a hardcore directioner so this series is right up my alley. Honestly, this book reads as if it could’ve been a fanfiction I read when I was 14 (in the best way) (though no one’s mom sold them off to Midnight Rush like they did to One Direction in those fanfictions, but I suppose I can look past that 😉). This book and its characters were so sweet, funny, calm, and kind. There is a heavier plot point but it does not bring down the whole book. The only drama was external to the couple, and I’m not sure I would even consider that drama to begin with! I really enjoyed this light read. Looking forward to reading about the rest of the band!
Thank you NetGalley and Jenny for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. This review will be posted on Goodreads August 23rd and will be posted on Amazon and Barnes and Noble on pub day!

4.5/5 stars!!
ONE MORE MADE UP LOVE SONG was absolutely adorable! Freddie and Ivy’s love story kept me hooked, and their banter was so cute! They are perfect for each other, and Proctor was able to make the reader fall head over heels with their relationship.

what a gorgeous book. oh i do love what these books do to my heart. feel good, feel like smiling, feel like going all mushy. and loving every second of it.
here we have a rock-star boss and a fake dating with his employee romance. and don't we all just know where this is going. but dont worry, you'll be delighted it does. Ivy knows one thing, she cannot and will not fall in love with her boss. she musn't. she cant. no. nope. no! but then Freddie goes and does it doesn't he, he kisses her. and of course to him its all to save face and to get over some bad press. but to Ivy...oh poor Ivy. but now they are thrust into a fake relationship. and she knows she has to play along. but this fake stuff keeps starting to feel like very real stuff. their is genuine feelings here. deeper ones. something pure?
so now Ivy has to figure out if the fame life is worth the love she thinks she has always wanted.
watching Freddie see Ivy, like really see her was a joy.
i was nervous for Ivy though as she had my heart. and i felt so protective of her. Freddie might be able to open his heart. but would he, and could they in the orbits Freddie's life takes him? and i just found myself wanting to shout "dont anyone hurt our Ivy".
but then again you cant help but root for Freddie too and somehow know hes a gooden. hes always a good boss, hes actually always more than that with Ivy. and hes just decent. not an ego artist at all.
what they had together was so lovely. and i was rooting for them all the way. so much so you start coming towards the latter part of the book and cant bear for something to go wrong!
loved this book. all the stars.

This was such a great rockstar romance! I highly enjoyed it and love these types of books! It so fun getting to explore what it’s like to work and fall in love with a real life rockstar. I feel the two mains had great chemistry, banter, and I loved the slow burn of how they came together.

Thank you Victory Editing and NetGalley for the ARC

First of all anything Jenny writes is gold and this was no different!!! I really enjoyed One More Made Up Love Song! Jenny Proctor delivers a sweet, heartfelt romance that hooked me right away. The characters felt authentic, with relatable flaws and growth that made their love story all the more satisfying. I especially liked how the musical element was woven into the plot—it added an extra layer of charm and emotion.
The pacing was strong, and the writing style made it easy to sink into the story. There were moments that made me laugh, others that tugged at my heart, and plenty of swoony scenes that had me smiling. Overall, this was a beautiful romance that balanced fun and depth perfectly.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was super excited have the opportunity to read One More Made Up Love Song. I love Freddie and Ivy's story!! They are adorable. Honestly, you could pick up on a bit of the chemistry between them during Once Upon a Boy Band and getting a book that focuses on the two of them...the chemistry is DEFINITELY there! The two of them are comfortable with each other and you can tell. I can't wait to see what is in store for Jace and Leo!
