we met Zoe in the first book of the village midwife series. and what a treat it was to meet her. she came to the village and everyone rallied round for her. i loved reading her start in this village and this community. and so to know we were coming back...joy!!
and once again we are bought into Zoe's life and the little community she now calls home. we get to meet all the faves once again and a few new ones too.
Zoe is of course the village midwife. shes got a lot of expectant mothers to deal with. including one special one, her old friend Georgia who has moved to the village. but Zoe isn't sure everything is ok. things don't quite feel right. what could it be or is she just being an over protective friend?
i love how we got to come back to this book for a Christmas theme. these series are true gems in my book reading experience. when my fave authors do a series there is nothing better. then when you know there will be a festive one coming up its bonus points and then some!
there is all the gorgeous feels and festive goodness in this book. really getting you cosy and also helping you think about what Christmas and community is all about.
the romance is of course part of the charm for this book. i was feeling nervous for Zoe as i know she was treated badly in the past. and just wanted her and Alex to be ok.
Tilly always manages to make me super connected to her books and characters. ive been overjoyed recently getting to read a few of hers in quite successive timing. and its been like a treat. a gift. she has such warmth, heart and truth to her books. they make you feel good, comforted and also like you aren't so alone somehow.
i'm already in love with this little series and the characters within it. Tilly Tennant needs to be on everyone's to read list. and if she isn't already then either where have you been or shame on you...
in all seriousness though im truly lucky to get to read these books. and when they are authors that have been special parts of my life i cant feel more privileged.

This is the second book in the village midwife series and it was great to catch up with old characters and meet some new ones.

Zoe has settled in well and is enjoying her job as the village midwife and has plenty of expectant mothers to deal with. She soon finds herself with a new patient her old friend Georgia who has moved into the village but things are not quite as they seem.

This book had plenty of festive magic and showed the true spirit of Christmas is not presents but the love of family, friends and community spirit.

I enjoyed the romance of the book but there was plenty of other themes which gave plenty of depth to the book and allowed the focus to be on other characters.

The church and the ending were truly magical and showed Zoe is now truly part of the village and brought a tear to my eye.

I can’t wait to find out what happens next in the series as there is lots of open ending’s.(no spoilers)

Thanks to NetGalley, Tilly Tennant and Bookouture for an advance copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
