This was a good introduction to this world and characters, it had that element that I was looking for from the description. Douglas Roberts has a strong writing style and enjoyed how good everything worked together. I thought the characters were well written and enjoyed the way it was written.

Can’t make my mind up about this book. It rambles all over the place in the first few chapters, sets up background and characters then leaves them hanging. I see that this is the first in a series so maybe that’s the reason. I seriously considered one of the main characters to be a suspect, I was so confused by the narrative. Given that this book was published in 2021, I was surprised to see so many errors in the writing. As a proofreader, they jumped out at me! I appreciate that NetGalley books are not usually proofread but surely four years after publication that would have ben done.
