Okay - this book captured me right off the bat!! You get a point of view and main character that you feel for and trust right off the bat. There is a twist you will never see coming!!! I listened to this thanks to NetGalley and the narrator was SO good. Narration voice is a big thing that captures me or turns me off on a book and this captured me. I will definitely be reading more by this author!!

I loved it, it's an amazing domestic thriller with a lot of plot twists throughout the whole story, if you love thrillers you have to read this!!

Woah woah woah.
Didn’t expect that! Figured maybe Miranda was absolutely out of whack but I guess not??
A really fast psychological thriller with twists galore and an unreliable narrator with a major bias.
The Crux of the story happened half way and the rest was drawn a bit, but you got a good insight into the characters. I liked the alternating POV.
Thanks for the ARC NetGalley!

A big thank you to netgalley for another amazing ALC psychological thriller 👍.
This book was pretty intense 😮... I enjoyed this book and this is my time reading a book by this author ☺️.
I thought i had figured out the plot earlier on in the story but i was wrong 😕.
The ending was very satisfying though 💯😁

At 1st I was like ummm! then I was like OK OK SLOW DOWN! BACK UP BACK UP! this was a mess! a good mess!! I didnt wanna stop listening at all i was so upset that it was the end of the book and actually went and listened again to the ending because I was like that went way to fast! Becca Day! always delivering a fast punch!!

An engaging listen with enough twisty turns to keep your attention.
This has a modern day, slightly film noir feel to it (aside from Anna's section which I found irritating).
Who to believe in this tale of primarily two couples living next door to each other?
On the whole I really enjoyed this, it is a tad repetitive in places, probably because we hear the same timeframe from differing points of view. In my opinion the very final 'twist' really isn't necessary, I saw it coming and hoped I was wrong. I feel the ending was stronger without but that's just my pov.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARAC which was very much appreciated.

My first book by this author(definitely not my last🔥)
This ALC was such a ride! The dual narration was engaging and really pulled me into the tension of the story. Both narrators captured the anxiety and messy energy of the characters so well, though I found myself preferring the deeper, more mature voice overall (wish I knew which one that was!).
If you’re a Frieda McFadden fan, you’ll love this. It’s got that same addictive, twisty vibe! Full of flawed, messy characters, a strong first-person voice, and a big twist 🫢.
Entertaining from start to finish, with narration that elevated the whole experience.
✨ Huge thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the advance listening copy

The Secret at Number 7 had an intriguing premise and moments of genuine tension, but overall it felt far too drawn out. The pacing dragged, with long stretches where not much happened, making it difficult to stay fully engaged. While Becca Day does a good job building atmosphere and the characters are well developed, the story could have benefited from tighter editing to keep the suspense alive. There is a payoff, but it takes a lot of patience to get there. Not a bad read, just slower than I hoped.

This was a total page turner. The story was WILD and completely addictive. I was invested from the very beginning and couldn’t stop reading. The twists kept coming, the suspense never let up, and I found myself needing to know what happened next. A gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller that delivered everything I want in this genre. Highly recommend!

thriller with a twist on Hitckcock's Rear Window watching the neighbours through her doorbell camera.
I could not stop listening , I was hooked right from the start.

Thank you to Netgalley / Bookouture Audio / Author for the audio ARC of The Secret At Number 7 by Becca Day.
I had the ARC (or would it be ALC if its an audiobook?) with Daphne Kouma& Melanie Crawley providing the narration. Each did a phenomenal job that gave wonderful dimensions to their roles.
This is my first delve into anything by Becca Day, and what a delight it was! This psychological thriller is fast paced and engaging the entire way through without being too long and has all the plot devices to keep a reader hooked.
We have an idyllic neighborhood that has that ‘small town’ vibe that Miranda and her family have lived on for a while, with Miranda recovering from traumatic events from before they moved there. Wanting their new neighbors to feel welcome, Miranda is practically the welcoming committee and feels instantly drawn to Anna but something is off with Anna’s husband Fraser…….Especially when Miranda finds some odd happenings on her camera involving Fraser.
Day’s writing seamlessly gives complex and layered characters, obsession, desire, bad choices and determination through a dual p.o.v that really takes off when the reveals begin to happen. This is perfect for readers wanting a shorter read/listen that is fast paced pretty much the entire way.

Melanie is one of those nosy neighbors who uses her doorbell camera app to see what her neighbors are up to. Like the Hitchcock film Rear Window, she builds a story in her mind to suit what she sees, then wonders why her husband and the police don’t take her seriously.
The story builds quickly and the suspense in this well-narrated audiobook kept me listening compulsively. Well done and entertaining.
My thanks to the author, publisher, @BookoutureAudio, and #NetGalley for early access to the audiobook of #TheSecretatNumber7 for review purposes. Publication date: 18 September 2025.

I received this book as an ALC (audiobook) from NetGalley.
I was hesitant to keep going because I did not like the narrators at first, but I pushed through.
I’m glad I did, because it had an unexpected twist and wrapped up nicely.
It was a good suspense/thriller that I didn't want to put down.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: N/A
Narrator note: I personally did not like the narrators’ accents, as they were very heavy and it was hard to get into the story because of it. If narrators are an audiobook deal breaker for you, this would be a good one to read instead.

When a new couple moves into Number 7, I’m instantly drawn to Anna—she’s warm, stylish, and everything you’d want in a neighbor. But her husband, Fraser, gives off an unsettling vibe from the start. There’s something in the way he looks at me that sends a chill down my spine.
Not long after they settle in, Anna disappears. Fraser claims she’s visiting family—but Anna once confided she didn’t have any. I’ve seen the bruises. I’ve seen the late-night movement on my doorbell camera—Fraser loading something heavy into his car.
Everyone, including the police and my own husband, thinks I’m imagining things. But I know something is wrong. I can't shake the feeling that Fraser did something to her. And the more I dig into what’s really going on inside Number 7, the more twisted and dangerous things become.
Now, I’m not just searching for the truth—I’m trying to stay alive.
This book was an absolute rollercoaster from beginning to end! What started as a seemingly typical domestic thriller quickly turned into something so much more twisted, layered, and jaw-dropping. The suspense builds fast, and I found myself racing through the pages, desperate to figure out what was really going on behind closed doors.
At first, it feels like you’ve read this setup before—new neighbors, a paranoid watcher, a missing wife—but then the story flips, and everything you thought you knew unravels. The second part of the book, especially, takes a darker and more disturbing turn. It might not be for everyone, but I personally loved the wild shift in perspective and tone.
Some parts were unsettling (in a good way for thriller lovers) and I genuinely didn’t know who I could trust. The tension is constant, and the twists? Let’s just say my jaw was on the floor more than once. That ending left me speechless.
If you’re looking for a binge-worthy, can’t-put-it-down kind of thriller that keeps you guessing until the very last page, this one’s for you. It’s twisty, intense, and definitely not your average neighbor drama.
Favorite Quote:
“Remember that your thoughts are the primary cause of everything.”

In a story reminiscent of the classic Hitchcock movie Rear Window, a young woman living in a secure cul-de-sac with friendly neighbours likes to keep an eye on their activities through her doorbell camera.
When a glamorous couple moves in next door, Miranda is as charmed by her new neighbour Anna as she is suspicious of Anna's husband Fraser and the finger-shaped bruises she soon spots on her new friend's body.
Because while Fraser behaves in a very open and friendly manner with Miranda's husband Lee, he seems borderline hostile towards her - to an extent that simply cannot be ignored.
And when Miranda spots Fraser dragging a heavy suitcase into his car in the early hours of the morning just before Anna disappears, she cannot rid herself of the notion that her friend has been murdered by her husband...
But is that in fact the case? Or is Miranda being paranoid because of the trauma she still carries from the break-in years ago at her own home, when she and Lee still lived in London?
This is a twisty story, and will keep the reader's attention well occupied. Definitely one to check out, and the narrator does a fantastic job of voicing the various characters in the audio book, too

This book gave no clue about what would unfold .it was full of surprises and I never got bored once in fact I had to keep listening to find out what exactly happened and just when I thought I figured it out it changed everything so that it was impossible to predict it . The narrators Daphne Kouma and Melanie Crawley were both really good and made the whole thing more interesting and hooked me in from the beginning..Thank you to the author Becca Day for a wonderful book and I am going to definitely sign up to get more information on your books .Thank you also to #BookoutureAudio and to #NetGalley for allowing me to listen to this amazing audiobook.#goodreads reviewer .

The Couple at Number 7 had an intriguing premise that pulled me in right away. The story kept a steady pace with some well-placed twists, though a few moments felt a little drawn out and required some suspension of disbelief. Still, I found myself invested in seeing how everything unfolded.
The dual narration by Daphne Kouma and Melanie Crawley was a highlight—both brought distinct voices to the characters and kept the tension alive throughout. Their performances made the listening experience a good one, even when the plot slowed.
Overall, a solid domestic thriller with atmosphere, suspense, and strong narration. 3.5 stars rounded up.
Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the ARC.

Wow—this book completely caught me off guard! Not because of the twist itself, but because of how much I enjoyed it. I went in expecting a quick, low-stakes “popcorn thriller,” but what I got instead was a tightly woven, engaging page-turner that avoided the usual tropes in such a refreshing way.
I listened to the audiobook, and it was nearly impossible to put down. Narrated by Daphne Kouma and Melanie Crawley, with Kouma carrying the majority of the story, the performance was strong overall. Personally, I connected much more with Kouma’s delivery—her tone and pacing felt perfectly aligned with the story’s energy. Crawley, on the other hand, didn’t quite land for me. Her voice came across as a bit too mature for the character she portrayed, which occasionally pulled me out of the narrative. There were also moments where a slight lispy quality muddied certain phrases. That said, I found that listening at 1.75x not only smoothed over these issues but also heightened my excitement to keep going.
The story itself delivered several clever twists, each adding another layer of tension and intrigue. Even without an ebook copy to compare, the prose felt sharp and well-constructed—no glaring plot holes, just a clean, satisfying thriller. It’s rare to find one that balances suspense and believability this well, and it’s left me eager to dive into more of this author’s backlist.
I was fortunate to receive a complimentary ALC from Bookouture Audio via NetGalley, which gave me the opportunity to share my voluntary thoughts.
How I Rate
Because I mostly read ARCs, I focus on how I think fellow readers with similar tastes will respond. I sometimes round up or down based on pacing, prose, or overall impact, and I try to keep my personal preferences from weighing too heavily.
⭐️ 1 Star – Finished, but not for me; I never DNF ARCs.
⭐️⭐️ 2 Stars – Struggled due to writing, content, or editing issues.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars – Decent read with untapped potential; recommend with some reservations.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars – Really enjoyed it and would recommend for several reasons.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Exceptional; lingers in my mind well after reading. A story I’d gladly revisit.

The book is easy to listen to, it just flows seamlessly. The plot twist will have your mind running a 100 miles an hour trying to figure out who did what. It feels light and then suddenly you find yourself asking out loud “what?!!”. I had to go back and re-listen to make sure that what I heard was correct. At some point in the early chapters I started losing interest but Becca Day knew exactly when and how to real you back in with full force. Through most of the book I was 100% sure of how it’s going to end, until you get smacked right in the face with it. I love having 2 POV’s, it made it interesting and to understand the story from different perspectives.

A new author to me, a book friend suggested trying this psychological thriller as her other books get a lot of praise on social media. I had the audiobook read by Daphne Kouma and Melanie Crawley.
It’s a high octane thriller. Miranda firstly welcomes their new neighbours, but they soon become the centre of her obsessional delusion and paranoia fuelled world. I don’t want to mention more of the blurb, as I think the less you know the better.
Miranda is extremely annoying in an impending car crash can’t look away kind of fascination. I was in awe of her ever patient husband Lee. At times I’m shouting at her get a grip, others I’m chuckling at what’s just happened, even though it’s not meant to be funny.
It’s pure thrills and entertainment, high octane with more twists than tornado alley. Freida McFadden is the queen of twists, and think her fans would love this.
