A new author to me, a book friend suggested trying this psychological thriller as her other books get a lot of praise on social media. I had the audiobook read by Daphne Kouma and Melanie Crawley.
It’s a high octane thriller. Miranda firstly welcomes their new neighbours, but they soon become the centre of her obsessional delusion and paranoia fuelled world. I don’t want to mention more of the blurb, as I think the less you know the better.
Miranda is extremely annoying in an impending car crash can’t look away kind of fascination. I was in awe of her ever patient husband Lee. At times I’m shouting at her get a grip, others I’m chuckling at what’s just happened, even though it’s not meant to be funny.
It’s pure thrills and entertainment, high octane with more twists than tornado alley. Freida McFadden is the queen of twists, and think her fans would love this.

New neighbors move in and the main character feels like something is off. This was a great thriller that had some twists I did not see coming. I liked the two different perspectives. This was fast paced and will keep you engaged. Looking forward to Becca Day`s next book.

We’ve all had moments where we know something feels off, but no one else believes us. The Secret at Number 7 captures that uneasy space between gut instinct and self-doubt so well. Becca Day shows the mental strain of carrying suspicion alone, and I couldn’t look away as paranoia, fear, and truth tangled together. The twist hits at just the right time, and it’s a reminder that sometimes protecting your peace means trusting yourself, even when others don’t. You mad be paranoid. It may save your life.
Thank you Becca Day, Bookouture Audio, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

This was my first Becca Day book, and I ended up binging it in one go. The premise is simple: new neighbors move in and soon after, the wife disappears ... but the execution really kept me hooked.
What stood out most to me were the characters. Miranda, our main character: her anxiety and sleep paralysis after a traumatic break-in made her feel real, but it also made me question her judgment at times. She toes the line between determined and slightly unhinged, which kept me on edge the whole way through. Fraser, the husband, gave me chills every time he was on the page ... hostile, unsettling, impossible to read.
And Anna… let’s just say she isn’t a character who fades quietly into the background. Even when she’s “gone,” her presence lingers over every chapter, and when she does step back into the spotlight, she completely changes the game.
The pacing worked well overall, though Miranda’s obsessiveness might test some readers’ patience. Personally, I enjoyed not always knowing whether to trust her perspective. The narrators also did a fantastic job, really selling the tension and atmosphere.
Overall: an engaging, bingeable thriller with strong character dynamics and just enough twists to keep me guessing. I wouldn’t mind seeing these characters again in a follow-up. 4 stars!

Want an audiobook that will be hard to put down? Get this book!
Miranda has new neighbours, Anna and Fraser. When she greets them she is in awe by Anna and gravitates towards her immediately. The same cant be said for Fraser. He is cold and unwelcoming. One night Miranda witnesses Fraser leaving his home in the early hours of the morning with a large suitcase and it only gets weirder as Anna is now nowhere to be seen. Where has she gone? Miranda is going to get involved and try and solve the mystery.
I am so glad I requested the audiobook on Netgalley when I read the blurb. The narrator did such an amazing job and had me locked in from the jump. I love me a nosy neighbour that doesn’t know how to mind their business and the main character delivered.
I did not see the twist coming and my Flabbers were Ghasted! I truly couldn’t put it down. The book had all the popcorn thriller components. Drama,
Stupid Decisions
Characters you will love to hate
Being blindsided
I have read this author works before and I will say I think this is my favourite book by her thus far. Criticisms for this book would be I wish it was more show than tell and it did have some unnecessary fillers that could have been removed for a quicker read, but all in all it was a very enjoyable book.

thank you netgalley, bookouture audio, and becca day for the audio early access!
this book had me reeled in and i could barely put it down! the narration was solid! the twists and turns! i ate it up!! loved this book very much and would listen to another audio book by the narrators or by the author!

Holy Moly, that one took a path I hadn't predicted, but I absolutely loved. With some entirely W T...? moments you'll be tempted to speed up the narration to get to the next reveal, and it's certainly worth it.

I listened to this audiobook in one day, so the book was definitely entertaining. The narrator who voiced Miranda was very good, the other narrator was just okay.
The book centers around Miranda, a neighborhood busybody who loves spying on her neighbors from her windows and doorbell camera. She sees something one night that makes her think her new neighbor is up to no good. No one believes her at first and as the book continues and Miranda spirals even I started to doubt her. This aspect of the book was well done.
Overall, this book is fast-paced, entertaining, and twisty. I'm not rating it higher because I didn't connect with any character and the main issue could have been solved with some communication.

I finished this audiobook in less than a day. I couldn’t stop listening to find out what happened next. The ending was a complete surprise for me. Certainly not what I had been expecting. Interesting and creative thriller. Good job by the author to keep you guessing till the end. Narration was good as well.

I read this book within 24 hours and it's been awhile since I was so wrapped up in a book I read any chance I could.
When I got the opportunity to read this I was excited because I've read this author before.
I've read similar plots before but this had a twist I didn't imagine. 😅
Very fast paced and if you love a good domestic dramatic thriller then I highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and Becca Day for this ARC copy, my review is my honest opinion of this book and I look forward to reading more of this author in the future.

“The Secret at Number 7” is a thriller told in the latest fad of being from two different perspectives. The majority of the story is told from the perspective of Miranda. Miranda can’t wait to be the perfect neighbor to the couple moving in next door. But as you can read in the description of the book, she has questions about the husband. Things go crazy when she sees the new neighbor leaving his house with what Miranda believes is the body of his wife.
From the start, I kept looking for clues for the “shocking” twists that would eventually show up. I will say this, the motive behind all this is one you WILL NOT see coming. Guaranteed. And the twists, they don’t stop. Not even up to the last page.
The audiobook is fantastic. The two different actors do a phenomenal job.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

A fun, binge-worthy popcorn thriller!
Synopsis: The new neighbors have just moved in—and they’re gorgeous, mysterious, and unsettling in a way that feels just off.
Told through multiple points of view, the story keeps you guessing: Who’s really losing it here? The nosy neighbor? The seemingly abusive husband? A too-close-for-comfort friend? Or someone else entirely?
This is a twisty, scandalous ride that’s hard to put down—perfect for readers who love thrillers you can devour in a couple of sittings.
Narration:
Both narrators were engaging and kept the pace moving, though I found Anna’s voice a little older than how I pictured the character. It pulled me out of the story a touch, but not enough to take away from the overall experience.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture Audio for the chance to listen in exchange for my honest review.

I received the notification I’ve been granted access to the ACR audiobook for Becca Days - The Secret at Number 7 and I am not exaggerating when I say i downloaded it instantly and started listening straight away… fast forward around 20 hours, (unfortunately I had to sleep or I wouldn’t have turned it off), and here I am, absolutely gutted it’s finished!
This was an action packed, fast paced twisty thriller that hooks you and doesn’t let go, right until the very last sentance!
A story centred around a couple who moved into a new neighbourhood, and their nosey neighbour - i genuinely thought I had figured it out and so many times I was proven wrong,
I’m now away to download all Becca Days books I’ve not read onto my kindle to start reading straight away!
Thanks to NetGalley and Becca day for the ARC

Fun twist!
Premise - She's a nosy neighbor. Her husband has had just about enough of her meddling, but when the glamorous Anna moves in next door, with her older (and creepy) husband, Fraser, she can't resist a little snoop. When Anna disappears, and she's sure the young woman came to harm at Fraser's hand, she's gotten more than she bargained for!
This was a fun read, full of obsession, domestic drama, and voice. I didn't quite trust our narrator, but I could still figure out the twist pretty quickly. All in all, a fun ride!
I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Daphne Kouma and Melanie Crawley. They were well matched and both did an excellent job. Their narrative reads were cozy enough to keep my thriller habit from becoming a cortisol problem, but they also definitely knew how (and when!) to ratchet up the tension and bring me to the edge of my seat.
Thanks, NetGalley and, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
