This book is a beautiful and empowering read for young girls. I’d highly recommend it for a church’s children’s ministry, as well as for parents and educators who are raising young girls and want a faith-based book to share with them. The message of empowerment is clear: God has a purpose and plan for all of us, and we are born leaders. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and I know that young girls will be captivated by the artwork. The only thing that could have enhanced this book is including the scriptures that were alluded to in certain sentences. Many of the words written were definitely inspired by scripture, and it would have been a nice touch to have those scriptures included on the page.

This is a sweet and uplifting children’s book with a strong, positive message at its core. I read this with my daughter, and we both enjoyed the colorful illustrations and the gentle, encouraging tone throughout the story.
While my family is not faith-based, and some of the Christian elements didn’t fully connect with us, the overall message of self-worth, confidence, and knowing you are special was easy for me to break down for my 3 year old Lol.
I appreciated how the book encourages children to embrace who they are and recognize their value it’s a message that transcends faith and can resonate with all families.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc.
Wow i just read it and its perfection.
This is the Kind of Book i would read my children if i had any. My inner Child felt so Seen. If you are looking for a children’s book that talks about worthiness this one is for you. And the colors and illustrations are so beautifully designed . Just read it.

Great illustrations. I don't like how overwhelmingly Christian heavy it is. Children's books should center the child and this felt more like indoctrination.

This is delightful. Each page is decorated with gorgeous pictures of a little black girl who, with gods help, is shown how worthy and loved and strong she is. The words are simple and can be read by my little one as well as to them. The images are so colourful and pink and sparkly that we had a lovely time talking our way through the book at bed time last night. The importance of being true to oneself and that it is that which makes the world and the people in it a better place is central.

Cute illustrations! Well meaning, but perhaps confusing message.
This book contains some very sweet sentiments and is focused on empowering young girls, which is wonderful.
However, I think some liberties were taken with certain threads of this message. It felt very “prosperity gospel” and some Biblical truths were even taken out of context.
For example, the scripture on the very first page is Ephesians 4:1 (which appears to be the anchor for the entire message of this book)—when you read this verse in context, it is referring to spiritual strength and unity within the church. This book implies that this scripture means that “you are enough” and that you’re “Destiny’s dream come true”.
Overall, this book seemed to echo the “you are enough” self-love narrative, which readers may or may not appreciate.

Worthy Girl is a lovely and inspiring book for young girls, featuring wonderful illustrations.
While it may not be the right fit for families who prefer to keep faith out of their reading, its beautiful and uplifting message makes it a worthwhile read for any girl, regardless of their family's beliefs. The book’s core message is both beautiful and inspiring.
