A gentle, quirky and often humurous account of life a seemingly quiet the avenue in England, mostly seen through the eyes of two young girls, Grace and Tilly. The year is 1976, that hot, sultry humid summer that the author brings back to mind so authentically that I could almost feel myself back there.
Grace and Tilly start up a project for themselves and set out to look for God during the school holidays, whilst also searching for reasons for the disappearance of one of their neighbours, Mrs Creasey. As we follow the girls putting their burgeoning detective skills to the test we are introduced to other residents of the avenue who all appear to be decent folk but one by one, during timeshifts and references to 1967, it would appear that each and everyone of them has a secret, something that they are not so proud of.
A charming story that I thoroughly enjoyed and than Netgalley for the opportunity.

I loved this book. It is a beautifully written story that is easy to read. The investigation into the disappearance of Mrs Creasy is a brilliant storyline which tells about a child's perspective and the secrets neighbours have and of the consequences of secrets both past and present. This is a book I would definitely recommend and will remember for a long time. Definitely worth 5 stars.
