This book was an interesting fictional depiction of what Amelia and Fred may have experienced during their last voyage. The author writes from Amelia and Fred’s point of view and even explores how Amelia’s husband may have been feeling. I wish there had been a trigger warning about sexual assault. Historical fiction is not a genre I gravitate towards, but when I read the title, I thought it was the actual journals and had always looked up to Amelia’s spirit. I felt this story might be better unassociated with Amelia and that body functions and sex were too prominent in the story to be tied to historical figures.
