What a chaotic and fun read!
The book follows Sloane; a messy FMC whose imperfections make her feel real. Sloane tends to write eulogies for all of her ex-boyfriends as a way of moving on from them. However, things take a dark turn when her exes actually start dropping dead, adding thriller to her life filled with drama. Enter one of her dramas – her chaotic friendship group - including Wes and Asher. Wes is the boy our Sloane is crushing on, and Asher is the existence she barely tolerates until one thing leads to another, and he gets involved with Sloane in trying to solve the mystery behind the deaths of her exes.

The banter between Sloane and Asher is one of the book's highlights, as it is sharp, darkly humorous, and often teeters on the line between disdain and reluctant camaraderie (or more). Their exchanges add levity to an otherwise grim situation, making their dynamic both entertaining and layered. The mystery itself was fun. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, another twist would throw me off track, especially the twists toward the end! The pacing kept the suspense alive, and the blend of dark comedy with mystery thriller elements made for a fun ride.

That said, while the story brims with drama, romance, and suspense, it sometimes tries to juggle too much at once. Certain plot points felt underdeveloped, and a few side characters weren’t explored as fully as they could have been. This occasionally made some reactions and decisions feel a little unrealistic.

Even so, the book was an entertaining read. Between the flawed characters and the constant sense of intrigue, this book manages to strike a balance between chaotic drama and dark mystery. It’s a story that keeps you guessing.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author and the publisher for the ARC <3
