Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin and Matt for an ARC of Husband of the Year.

Let me start by saying AAAHHHHH! I LOVED THIS SO MUCH! Teacher of the Year has basically become a comfort read for me in the last few years--I love Marvin and Olan so much, and the little world Wardell has built. So you can imagine how excited I was when I heard there was going to be a legit sequel. Husband of the Year really delivers, too!

I loved seeing all the characters from the Teachers In Love series, plus developing some relationships/connections further, like Marvin and his mother. I really enjoyed getting to know Olan's family through his eyes, as well. The storyline with Olan's family is written with a lot of nuance and sensitivity, allowing both the love, and also the difficulties and complexities that come with family, shine through.

This book had some surprising and lovely twists that I did not expect. I was giggling, blushing and/or crying at many points! And the end had me really feeling that THIS is the level of queer joy we need in the world right now.
