Bridget Jones meets Black Mirror is the perfect description for this book, it is SO Black Mirror that it is scary. Not only was it scary but also sad and I am immediately deleting all of my dating apps.
The ending is so confronting.

This is absolutely Bridget Jones meets Black Mirror. It starts very gently and with plenty of humour and becomes something so thought provoking and insightful that, if it wasn’t so seamlessly written, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were reading a different book. I saw what was happening fairly quickly but that did not detract from the intensity of how Clara reacts and what happens next. The conclusion is very confronting as you question what is real, what matters and what is influencing the behaviours. It’s a great book and uncomfortably relevant.

This was very quick, fun, and also thought provoking read. J was a little disappointed in the character’s choices, which created the ending. It’s actually a little terrifying to think about.

A very quick read.
Interesting storyline but one which left me feeling sad.
I am so glad i am past the dating age.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

This was a quick read that I couldn’t put down. Really enjoyed the messaging format and the various relationship dynamics. I felt pretty confident I knew what was going on from the beginning, so I thought I might be disappointed, but finding out why it was happening was really interesting and unexpected. I thought it provided some great commentary on online dating, the loneliness epidemic, and AI.
Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and the author for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book completed sucked me in. I was trying to guess the plot twist the entire time. A few of them seemed far fetched, but others popped up as time went on. I was wrong on all of them. While I completed sped through this book, my rating is the complacent nature of the main character thinking this is all they will be able to do/have in life. Making people thinking sinking into a virtual reality is completely normal. I get the idea as this is what goes on a lot of the times, but the ending just fell flat for me with that.

As a person who has watched every black mirror episode this definitely has that same feel! I really enjoyed this and although I expected the story line as it moved on I really enjoyed keeping up with the story and how it wrapped up!

"Maybe your red flags are my green flags" - Clara
After going through a horrible breakup and still having to work with her ex, Clara has tried moving on, but every date is worse than the last. Her breaking point is when she finds out at work her ex has gotten engaged to another coworker after only two months of dating. Clara starts to wonder what is wrong with her. Her friends suggest using a new dating app, Swiper, to help her connect with new people. Could she possibly do it? She has never considered dating apps before but everywhere she looks there are ads taunting her to do it. Finally, she does and immediately is matched with Elias, and she quickly feels that everything is falling into place. But things tend to be too good to be true.
Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the arc!

First, thank you Netgalley & BooksGoSocial for this ARC!
My relationship with J.E. Rowney is a 'if she writes it, I will read it' one, and this time, once again, her story did not disappoint.
Speaking of relationships, that is what the book is about. Or, to be exact, about the lack of said relationships. Clara, single after breaking up with a man she still has to work with - the horror! - isn't really confident anymore - her heart is broken, her ego bruised. Her friends say the app Swiper might be the solution. And after a night of too much wine and self-pity, Clara gives it a try. But instead in getting her fairytale ever-after, Clara finds herself being obessed with a man - Elias - who seems to understand her as a whole, but never shows up to a meeting face-to-face. Her friend warn her, but Clara is into it too deep already to listen....
What can I say? Read it in one sitting, was not able to put it down! 5/5 stars! Also I am glad I never tried any dating apps myself at this point!
