Hector was a young psychiatrist. This was an interesting profession but it could be trying at times.
What Hector found the most trying was the question of love. Not in his own life but in the lives of the people who come to see him. Because love seemed to be an endless source of suffering. Some even complained of not having any love at all. So a lot of people came to Hector to explain the love or lack prevented them from sleeping, thinking, laughing, and in some cases even from living. Hector had been in love and remembered how much suffering love can cause. Hector got home before Clara which happened a lot, But tonight when Clara came in she had a big smile on her face and handed Hector a letter from her briefcase. Clara worked for a large pharmaceutical company and her boss was pleased with her work. The letter was from a man high up in the pharmaceutical company named Gunther. Clara worked for. It said the man thought highly of Hector and was relying on Hector to take part in a confidential meeting, where people from the company would ask Hector’s opinion on a very important matter. He hoped Hector would go. There was a piece of paper showing where the meeting would take place and then a third piece of paper telling Hector what he would be paid and the amount which Hector thought there was an extra zero in the amount. Then Hector saw other psychiatrists who had been invited and recognized some of them. Hector finds out Clara is having a affair with Gunther. Hector is sent on a mission and Clara does not go with him so Hector had time to think about her and their relationship. The mission was to find Professor Cormorant who had disappeared with a love potent and all his research and he and it must be found. The love potent was to keep people in love.
I had mixed feelings about this book. I liked reading it but it was nothing great or special for me. I wouldn’t read this again but there are things I like in this book such as the twists in this book and the way it ended just seem to pull everything together. I liked this gave me things to think about after I was done reading this book. But it also dragged a lot for me. There was also just too many characters in this book and it annoyed me. So as you can see I have mixed feelings but I am sure others will love this.
