I should not have left it so late to read and give feedback on this book. I had no idea that it was a true crime story when I started reading it, and was mostly intrigued by its references to Breton customs, language and superstitions. I was intrigued by the repeated apparition of the accident-prone wig-makers from Normandy. The repeated descriptions of poisonings were alleviated by a detached, often quite deadpan style of writing.
