This book is fantastic - Viet is just an incredible writer, and I've loved both his fiction and non-fiction. He's an author i'd happily read anything he's written!

This book is about the duality of a person's identity and outlook on life, based in the main character who is a Communist sympathizer throughout and after the Vietnam war.
This is a very literary book, with intricate writing and sometimes difficult ideas for the characters and the reader to grapple with.
It was very compulsively readable, while at the same time being challenging and enlightening.
