Ethan Hall, an ER doctor, is drawn back into his role as a law-enforcement investigator by a plea from a former colleague. Investigating a cold case of a missing girl with a powerful father is not something he looked for, but his own complex past has an unlikely connection that makes saying no impossible. It's a complex mystery over dual timelines, both equally compelling. The surprises are many and mostly unexpected. It's a dark, sometimes graphic story with an immersive narrative that draws you into the characters and the investigation. The storytelling is good, and the plot is cleverly written and revealed.
