Ok, I admit it was the cover that tempted me into reading this new book but when I saw the authors name too I jumped at the offer of reading this as I love her writing! I love feathers on covers as they are so sensual and ooze sex appeal which I must say is very fitting for this read. I’ve read all the books in the Fixed trilogy but this book had a very different feel to it. It’s not only sexy, steamy but has a real suspense feel and sometimes chilling.

The beginning sets the story very well. You’re under no illusion that the story will be mysterious. Emily is on a mission to find Amber, an old close friend of hers. They haven’t had contact for some time due a difference of opinion but when Amber sends Emily a ‘message’ she knows she has to help her. Emily locates Reeve, a person she believes is key to locating Amber. What she doesn’t expect is how attracted she is to him! Wow, this is when sparks fly! The feeling is very much mutual so does Emily carry on with following leads to find Amber or does she submit to her feelings for Reeve, or maybe she can do both ? Trust is a major issue in this read for Emily, can she truly believe what Reeve tells her. I can’t tell you how many times I shouted no and then yes you’re OK Emily just go with it but in the next breath changed my mind! Reeve keeps you guessing exactly who he is.

I admit I nearly did bail on the book as at times it was very slow which did bother me, however, I’m glad I stuck with it because the last 30% of the read certainly does make up for it! It’s very rare I give up on a read as I always have to know how it ends, I’m just that damn persistent and WOW, what I ending it was! The read is packed full of intrigue, suspense, twists and at times so dark it gave me goose bumps. If you’re looking for a romantic story with a twist then look no further! Let’s just say I bought book 2 within minutes of finishing this book! Well done, Ms Paige !
