Set on the West coast of Ireland, The Clew Bay Detectives is an engaging cosy mystery with likeable amateur sleuths, vibrant characters and a twisty plot that keeps you invested. Ali is expanding the successful landscaping business into Ireland's west coast. Business is slow, so she takes any leads she can and soon becomes embroiled in something unexpectedly dark. She is still grieving the loss of her romantic relationship with an Irish detective, but it seems events will bring them back into each other's lives. There are many suspects, just as many false leads, and an increasing sense of intensity as the story unfolds. The relationship dynamics are believable, and the characters are complex. The small-town vibe keeps it cosy despite the real crime and dangers Ali faces. I can't wait for the next one.
