This author just keeps getting better and better! His latest book is suspenseful, mysterious and compelling with so many twists and turns and although I thought I’d worked out what was happening before the end I wasn’t completely right!
When Molly Green, researcher to political hopeful, Patrick Vanderpool, is found murdered in her apartment, Patrick’s wife Vanessa is accused after an affair between the two is suspected. Patrick is also in the frame but manages to avoid being arrested.
However the evidence is not clear and when Eddy Flynn, defence attorney extraordinaire is asked to defend Vanesa things become very dangerous as Patrick’s powerful father threatens Eddie as he doesn’t want his son in gaol for the crime.The story is told from many viewpoints but the tension never diminishes. I couldn’t put the book down until I knew what had actually happened. The truth is only revealed at the very end!
Steve Cavanagh certainly knows how to write a thriller and hold the reader’s attention -I don’t know how he does it!
I liked the way the author told the story from all the different perspectives including Bloch’s, Eddie’s plucky gung ho female investigator and the accused, Vanessa as well as Patrick’s - this made the plot all the more interesting and indeed it was difficult to work out who was telling the truth- unreliable narrators spring to mind.
Bravo Steve Cavanagh, you’ve written another winner here and I highly recommend it whether you are an avid fan of Eddie or new to these legal thrillers you will definitely enjoy “One Of Us Is Guilty”
