There was much to enjoy here, but I found I couldn't connect with it. I'd read more from this author in the future though.

Will no longer be reading or reviewing this book due to lack of interest in the title, and the fact that the title has been archived.

I found this book very difficult to read and eventually I stopped trying. It is not a reflection of the authors work however, I think it is just not personally for me.

Very rich writing style, and a dreamy setting. A different kind of YA story.

I really enjoyed the beginning half of this book but felt like the second half dragged on a lot. It didn't feel like the story was actually going anywhere.

I really enjoyed reading My Favourite Manson Girl! The way in which Umminger explores the main character's interior world, her doubts and her worries, was fascinating. Although the novel seems to be written for a younger audience, Umminger still explores a whole variety of adult themes. Contrasting the darker truths of Hollywood with the fascination around Charles Manson and his "girls" allows Umminger to let her teenaged protagonist explore things like love, fascination, obsession, drugs, alcohol and family.

This book piqued me interest in two ways - the beautiful cover and the Charles Manson aspect. (I am very interested in all things true crime and serial killers). This book was completely different to any other contemporary I've read before, and I really enjoyed it! This book has so many different elements to it, and they all come together. It is unlike any other L.A. - set, Hollywood book, and yet it doesn't shy away from those parts either. I will be looking out for Umminger's next work eagerly.
